This was my go-to eyeliner for a long time! I fell out of love with it for two reasons, though: it transferred easily to my oily eyelids — something I could’ve stopped with a matte eyelid primer but wasn’t wise enough to try — and I wanted to transition to lighter, warmer browns and Espresso is nearly indistinguishable from black. But man, this stuff is super opaque and you can get a very clean line out of it. These little pots can last a good two years with regular use (if you don’t have reservations about using an eye product waaaaay beyond its expiration date). The flip side of that is it’ll gradually dry out with infrequent use, and keeping the little brush clean of caked product is vital for its application.

OMG! Where has this product been all my life! I have to say, I bought this on a whim, wanted to buy myself a treat at Stop ‘n’ Shop and I have never used a better, longer lasting eyeliner that is easy to apply in a gorgeous color! I have bought ever so many brands, high and low, to include, lately, Chanel, and also the Infallible waterproof pencil eyeliner and I have to say this is the best ever! Wind me up and I buy a new eyeliner because the old ones always fail. And although I am mostly indifferent to packaging, this product is so intelligently packaged it’s hard not to comment: the brush has a cover so any product remaining on the brush doesn’t smear your makeup bag or medicine chest shelf. I am usually very thrifty and try to use up what I’ve bought before but this time, it’s going to be hard, this product is so darn good! Yay L’Oreal!

First off the color is a dark brown in the jar but it goes on super dark…almost black. It was creamy and easy to use but it migrated and got messy within an hour…definitely wouldn’t last 24hrs…

Oh my, I am a fan of this! I’m blonde and very fair skinned, so I can’t wear black eyeliner, it looks far too harsh and unnatural when I wear it. Yet most browns are too light, just not enough pigmentation. Enter this color. From a distance it could be a soft black, but up close you can see it’s dark chocolate-y shade. The product is so smooth, pigmented, and long lasting. I’m by no means adept at applying eyeliner, but this product makes it fairly simple. Easily the best eyeliner I’ve ever used, including the gel one from MAC. I sweat a good deal on my forehead and it tends to run down onto my eyelids, yet this eyeliner never runs, smears, or transfers onto my undereye area. The product in the pot seems like it won’t dry out after a month, which is the experience I had with the Maybelline gel eyeliner. I like the packaging, feels heavy and solid and the gold lid makes it feel very luxe. I also happen to like the brush, just maybe not as much as I do my other HE ones. It’s a good quality brush, plus I like the cap that goes over it to help protect it’s shape. I will most definitely repurchase, but I think it’ll be a while before I need to replace it.

One of the best gel eyeliners i’ve tried.

One of my favorite products. It is easy to apply and lasts for hours. The espresso color is a very dark brown, very pigmented, and a great color for me.
The brush is good quality too and has an included cover so it is easy to throw in your makeup bag.
I also have used this to fill in my brows a few times, and it works great for that too. Very versatile.
It’s not *quite* as quality as more expensive gel liners (like Bobbi Brown), but for less than 10 bucks it is a fantastic product.

I absolutely love this gel eyeliner. It stays on until I take it off. I highly recommend this eyeliner.

this was my first ever gel liner, and while I love the colors, this did not work for me.
I have hooded eyelids and they are oily and this is a very creamy formula that takes a long time to set, which means it smears.
I love creamy formulas don’t get me wrong, but i don’t like how long it takes to set.
it does glide on very easily and smoothly, which I really appreciate.
really sad that I’m not able this one

I saw so many raved reviews on this eyeliner, so I decided to give it a try. It didn’t disappoint at all! It’s very pigmented and glides easily. Staying power is good, it doesn’t smudge (at least for 4-5 hours). Using with eye primer, it can last me for the good 8 hours before it starts to bleed under my eyes (and turning me into a racoon).
I would say the quality is almost on-par with Bobbi Brown gel liner (Bobbi Brown lasts a little bit longer) but so much cheaper! I don’t usually trust the quality of drugstore gel liners, most of them are dud, but can’t say the same for this one. I have been enjoying it so far.
The brush is very easy to use too.
I really have no complaint on this eyeliner. 5 out of 5.

I found it impossible to get anything but a harsh line out of this stuff. And once it’s on, it’s like trying to smudge cement. Even after heavy duty removal techniques, this stuff was still a bit visible the next morning. Maybe that’s the only way to use it? The brush was so-so, but may be good to apply concealer in tiny areas.
Prob. biggest waste of my makeup dollar in a long time.
