This is described as a coffee bean brown. I am C1 nc20 and this does pull a bit red but not in a bad way. I love this as a base all over my lids and blended out. Easy to
Blend out and stays put. Its a very nice smokey reddish brown eye look. On the lower lash id def smudge this because it can pull a bit red by itself just as a line in the waterlines. Its ok looking in the waterlines if im being honest. Its a really beautiful alternative to black.
Its kind of the twilight vampire liner lol for the waterlines if you know what i mean. It doesnt bleed(no pun intended) and It will make your colored eyes pop. I like the wear this along with Mac Embark eyeshadow on top to set it. Brown Script in the crease, Texture to transition into Brule as highlight and Ricepaper in the inner corners. Its a dark sexy smokey toasted toffee teddybear brown eye.
Edit- i felt this pulls too red on me and i cant wear it on the waterlines. It also is smudgy. I guess its not something i reach for so i returned it. I was trying to make it work under Embark but i dont need it. I also cant back to mac these liners so i decided to let it go. Too red and brings out redness in my eyes and i look like i have an allergy.

This eyeliner is very unique and different, I’m a red head with pale skin, and it is a great substitute for traditional black. However, since it does have reddish undertones, when it starts to fade it can make me look straight up sick/stoned/crying. I looked in the mirror at the end of the day a few times after wearing this (after a lot of fading) and it just made me look TERRIBLE-tired and as if I have bad allergies. The staying power isn’t good either, most of it wears off by mid day and I’m left with Thor weird reddish tint around my eyes.

I guess I can count this as a staple or HG product for me. I switch up my eye look a bit day to day but this is the one thing I reach for EVERY DAY.
I used to be liquid eyeliner only. Drugstore pencils tended to drag along my lids or didn’t deposit any color. Or I couldn’t draw a precise enough line.
Then I got a few UD pencils bc they were so coveted. I found them very hard in formulation. They would kinda poke my eye a little causing it to move and again I could never master an accurate straight line.
If I wanted something more soft or grungey or smokey I would resort to using eyeshadow. I gave up on pencils.
So I had a nord gc for $10 and wanted nothing at all. I went into Mac to spend it on Mac teddy just to try it out– ended up being more drawn to costa riche so I bought that instead. I love this. I use it every single day of my life.
The pencil is soft. It doesn’t poke at my eye and cause it to close. I can draw a precise enough line and am even able to wing out my shadow– I’ve never been able to do that with pencil.
The color is just beautiful. It is a mid tone reddish brown. It’s actually about the same color as my eyes and it makes my eyes pop and look bigger without the obvious look of eyeliner.
Eyeliner doesn’t move on me unless I rub my eyes or take a nap with it or something. Stays on all day and doesn’t fade.
This is such a perfect pencil. I feel like I am going to use this forever. I prefer the eye kohls to UD

I am a HUGE Teddy fan. It has been the eyeliner that I’ve hunted down dupes and still come back to Teddy. Then I tried Costa Riche. This is my ultimate, most favorite, beautiful brown eyeliner ever. I have blue/gray eyes and have a fair complexion. This medium dark brown with red undertones and no shimmer — makes my eyes pop like crazy. Teddy is more bronze with a shimmer and is still one of my faves — but it is Costa Riche that will be forever in my stash.

A gorgeous colour that can make hazel eyes pop, with a creamy consistency which makes it very blendable. Unfortunately, this liner was sliding off and down my cheeks within a couple of hrs. Would not repurchase.

This looks like just another warm tinged eyeliner but it’s much more. I bought this on a whim recently after seeing a couple of people use it on YouTube. All of the below descriptions of the color are spot on, it is a deep reddish burgundy brown that make my green eyes pop and it’s unlike anything else I own. What I love about it is the formula is really creamy and is easy to smudge but stays on my waterline all day. Absolutely love it and it is worth the price.

Beautiful red-brown eyeliner! I love the warmth this eyeliner brings to the eyes. I like to smudge this on my upper lash line and waterline when I’m wearing a warm smokey eye. It just makes the whole eye look come together beautifully. If you have oily eyelids, then you may want to set this eyeliner with a warm chocolate brown. I love this eyeliner on my brown eyes and it works really well with my fair skin. I highly recommend this eyeliner! I guarantee you will receive compliments on your makeup.

i recently purchased MAC eye kohl costa riche, and WOW. this color is GORGEOUS. i have brown skin and brown eyes. costa riche is a rich, reddish/mahogany brown (think of the color of the bark on coastal redwood trees or rich, deep red earth). a nice twist on a flat brown eyeliner. i’m a fan of the eye kohls, and this one is as beautiful as the others i’ve fallen in love with. i’ve lately been on a kick where i’ve grown tired of dark black liners, and this one gives me great definition and pigmentation in an earthy way without sacrificing drama. i will definitely repurchase and highly recommend.

How interesting. I also bought this pencil after seeing it on the men’s grooming video on the MAC site, and I also use it on the lower rims for the lived-in look. I love it. Great quality, as others have noted. Would definitely repurchase. For my next trick, I will try pairing it with teal shadow — that combination sounds beautiful.

I just got this a couple of days ago after seeing the makeup artist on the MAC web site use it on himself, and describe the effect. You can watch it at at :
I use it differently, though, but to try to get a similar lived-in look. I found it went well with a stripe of teal shadow on my lids, as a thick liner. Then I use this pencil on the lower rims and upper waterline, letting it smudge. I top it with a cheap, black greasy pencil on the outer rims, because I didn’t want to buy two MAC liners at once. I don’t add any gloss or smudge as much as in the video because I wear mascara, too. This look is really interesting and is, in fact, a bit lived in. I have pale cool blonde hair, NC15-20 skin with gold tones and blue eyes and am female, for reference.
Even though the video is about men’s grooming, I think there is some good advice there for women, too, especially if you are tired of classic or pop pricess makeup. This video takes things in a different direction. I found it very inspiring. And, I agree with others, the eyeliner really lasts.
