I absolutely love these shadows. I first purchased luminous nude and liked it so much that I have purchased numerous other colors but nude is a daily staple in my beauty arsenal.
These are soft, luminous, blend well and the product just glows. I use nude as a luminous wash over my lids and inner corners and then take MAC’s Cosmic Force (Future MAC) and sweep this in my crease and then take luminous nude under my brows to highlight and finish the look with 2-3 coats of mascara to make my eyes pop. Most natural nude eye ever.

I bought this eyeshadow via the mail in the color Intimate. Oh my what an amazing color. It’s a neutral taupe. Maybe a shade darker than my eyelid skin (I’m an NW25). I can’t discern any glitter or sparkle per se, just flashes of green in it.
It’s looks beautiful on. Natural yet unusual. No one has commented on “what eyeshadow is that” which I feel is a good thing. I don’t want folks to notice my eyeshadow. Instead, I get compliments on “your eyes are beautiful”. Which I attribute to the enhancing effects of the eyeshadow. It really brings out gray eyes.
Last but not least, the staying power is a phenom. It looks just like I applied in 12 hours sweaty hours later. Wow!

NUDE is a neutral flesh toned shadow that is matte yet has some luminosity to it. It creates natural looking highlights but it is also great for ridding my violet tones. It works fantastic swept under eyes because it cancels out the purple tones and brightens up the under eye area quite a bit without looking dry or flat.The texture is soft and smooth but not creamy the way some of the other offerings in the line are..
INTIMATE looks wonderful on my eyes. It looks nice when swatched but I was not wowed until I saw the effect on my eyes. Luminous is an accurate description because my eyes do not look sheeny, glittery, frosty, or metallic but they do look glowy.

After reading a lot of excellent comments on EB, I decided to get one eye shadow, Intimate.
Well, I’m quite disappointed… OK, the packaging is really nice and sleek but the eye shadow itself is nothing particular unfortunately.
The color is nice but quite dark and not luminous at all on me (I have brown eyes). Also, it didn’t stay the whole day.
So I won’t get any other for sure.
I think some other brands offer much better quality (Mac for example).

I purchased this in Intimate and Nude. The texture of this eyeshadow is wonderfully soft and stays on for a long while (under a primer). One swipe of a brush and there’s enough color powder for an eyelid. Packaging wise, I do like the classic black exterior with a small mirror & applicator. As expected EB prices are on the high side so pick your colors wisely.
OK, let’s talk about the colors. Nude didn’t do much for me, it was just a regular light nude matte shade that I use as a highlighter. On the other hand, Intimate became an instant favorite because it’s a neutral taupe/khaki shade with a hint of shimmer. This is a versatile shade that I also use with my Becca Eye Tints to change the finished color. I would repurchase Intimate but not Nude because it’s not as unique.

I love Edward Bess shadows. I am a makeup and skincare addict and very fickle, but I could easily throw out my other makeup and just use EB. These shadows are unlike anything else I have ever tried. The colors are subtle, classic, unique and beautiful. The texture is smooth, soft, blends easily and rich with glistening color. They can be layered or used just as a wash. I don’t know what it is, but they give me a smoky, sexy eye in one swipe. The quality makes my other shadows (channel, nars, Mac) look and feel heavy and chalky. I have Edward Bess shadows in Intimate, Dusk and Storm and love each one. This is by far the most superior line available. Luckily, I work in NYC and can go directly to Bergdorfs but I know this line is exclusive and not widely available. This is a brand to watch. It is my hands down holy grail line. Its perfection.

I fully admit to being somewhat of a makeup newbie – other than foundation, I only ever really flirted with the stuff from time to time. But the big three-oh birthday looming on the horizon has me realizing that I always pictured myself as being stylish, put together and fabulous by now. So here I am trying to make the best of my looks with those shadows, lipsticks, glosses, etc that MUA deems to be truly exceptional.
So far, Edward Bess products have mainly been a good investment for me. I have these shadows in Escape, Dusk and Night – and have my eye on Mystery next. Escape is just lovely, a summery bronze that looks quite natural with my skin tone and allows me to pair it with bright lips. Dusk, my favorite so far, is a total workhorse – I wear just a light wash all on its own for an elegant daytime look and also use it as a crease/outer v color with other taupes and pastels. Night, a grey that can be layered to become almost black, is probably the hardest shade for me to manipulate. Again, it might have to do to my newness with make up application or the highly pigmented nature of EB shadows but I always have to do a lot of cleanup with this one and sometimes have trouble getting the appropriate darkness I want with a brush (in this case, I actually prefer using the teeny tiny sponge applicator). But all of the shadows have a lovely, smooth texture that lasts and lasts even without primer (though I do use Paula Dorf which really cements this shiz in place). And I appreciate how well they work with other brands’ shadows: from wet n wild trios to Chantecaille eye shades (also quite lovely), EB shadows always “play well with others” as it were.
While I can sympathize with those reviewers who feel frustrated by the limited color range, in my admittedly limited experience I find that nobody does neutrals like Edward Bess. Now that I have these high quality, high performance staple shadows in my collection, I feel free to explore purples, blues and greens knowing that I have the perfect neutrals to pair with them.

Well, hmmm…. first the good news is that the quality of these eyeshadows is pretty good. Similar to Giorgio Armani Maestro singles(which I have a lot of) and Chantecaille. The pigment and hold is great – last all day without creasing. The bad news is, that the color selection is very mediocre and kinda “boring”. These shadows do not make my eyes “pop” like Armani ones. I’d say if you have golden blonde hair with brown eyes (with gold and green in your eyes) or if you have brown hair with hazel eyes the shadows may be a better fit. I have dark brown hair with caramel highlights and brown eyes. While these shadows apply nice, Nude doesn’t look like much on my lids or brighten – looks almost like yellow chalk on my lids! Dusk is a greyish/brown (okay lid color) and Intimate is okay for crease. I also bought Mystery (neutral brown) and Night (very pigmented charcoal grey/black). Again, the quality is good, just very disappointed with the color selection. On a positive, note I did hear from the Neiman’s SA that Edward will be coming out with atleast two new shadow colors in Spring 2011. I heard the colors will be light (similar to Intimate) which may be what we’re looking for! A pretty light neutral beige with a little luster would be a great base (step aside Nude) and brighten the eyes. She anticipated they will be available for sale sometime in February – I will keep my eyes opened to check these out.

I bought 2 of these — Intimate and Nude. Nude is like a more sheer version of MAC Shroom… Looks like a beige color in the pan, but on the skin, just gives a nice glow to the lid. Not quite shimmer–just a glow. It makes a very perfect base for a smokey eye, or for other shadows. Intimate is a pretty goldish-taupe, with the same kind of “glow” to it. It can be built up for a moderately smokey eye, or paired with Nude for a classic, neutral eye.
The finishes of these are amazing! Very silky and finely-milled, where the pigments sort of meld into the skin rather than sit on it… Similar to Giorgio Armani’s except a tad more pigmented. The packaging is elegant — small black compacts with a mirror inside, and a matching velvet pouch. These shadows work exceptionally with the Edward Bess eye brush.
Love these shadows, and will continue to repurchase and want to try other colors!

I ordered Dusk, it is a smokey, taupe grey color with some gold shimmer. The gold shimmer doesn’t show when it’s applied, but it gives a really natural glow/ sheen on the eyes- not metallic. The shadow is very sheer, its blendable and buildable. It applies like the giorgio armani ones, but the color does not show up/ come out as much as the GA ones but they are still very good quality. I think i’ll order intimate next.
