I bought this as there was a 30% off sale for Black Friday and I’ve been wanting to try a Pat McGrath palette. I love the packaging; it reminds me of 90’s designers like Vivienne Westwood/Betsey Johnson. The palette comes with a mirror and a plastic insert with all the shades. I didn’t view this palette anywhere but the Pat McGrath site which had the picture that is featured above. I was a little surprised as the picture shows a lavender/purple/brown shade (Ritualistic) in the middle bottom row, but in person this shade is darker and less lavender. This palette contains one matte shade (deep brown) and the remaining shades are frost/metallic. My favorite shades are Telepathic Taupe (which actually runs more gold/green to me but is beautiful nonetheless) and Smoke and MIrrors which is a deep neutral smoky brown with pearl. These shadows apply like a dream and wear well-I have found that they work best with an eyeshadow primer like NARS. I did not have good results with a MAC paint pot as the shadows creased and faded. My only complaint about this palette is that it is missing a matte transition shade. I do like that there is a light highlight shade included (Platinize) which is ivory with a hint of pink/gold. This is a definitely a luxury purchase and I’m glad I bought it. Because the shadows are more on the neutral side than most of her other palettes, this is a good daily palette and I can see myself using this often.

I was intrigued by all the Pat McGrath palettes for some time, so took the plunge and opted for this one to try. I am an avid fan of Natasha Denona, Anastasia and Huda palette formulations, so was really interested to see how these compare. I like the packaging design, though sometimes it can be a little fiddly to open and close. I was surprised the names are written on the clear plastic sheet, which I soon lost/disposed of. That seems to be cutting corners a bit in the packaging. I am also a bit disappointed with the shadows themselves. I am fair skinned, with dark brown eyes and it doesn’t matter how I apply these, the final looks always look muddy., even when using 3 shades. The shadows are mainly quite dark, apart from the light shimmer and the formulas are also disappointing. The metallic formulas are quite lacklustre, including the light shimmer shade. They also fade within a couple of hours and become lighter on the lid ( and I always use a good quality primer). I have only used it twice in 6 weeks and that is sad. I was going to try another of her palettes but I don’t think I will bother.

I hadn’t tried anything from Pat McGrath and couldn’t decide between Platinum Ambition and Mothership V Bronze Seduction so I ordered them both(!) – guess who’s in for a no-buy…
I have to say that I VASTLY preder Platinum Bronze! The shades are much more wearable for everyday while Bronze Seduction screems Partyyy..! Also the packaging might not be as luxe but it’s also less heavy/bulky/fingerprint magnet and more artistic/creative. You get more amount of eyeshadow in each pan and the price is almost half. Texture is creamier. No brainer if you’re not after the “special” sparkly/duochrome shades.
I don’t find the palette cool either, seems rather neutral. After so many really warm eyeshadow palettes everything that’s not orange seems to be labeled as cool toned. On to the colors now:
* Platinize is a creamy satin pale creamy/white shade. Nothing really special IMO but it’s convenient to have an inner corner highlighter in the palette so you won’t have to look elsewhere.
* Smoke and Mirrors is a smokey shimmery taupey brown.
* Telepathic Taupe is a shimmery taupe with a hint of mossy green.
* Deep Velvet is matte rich chocolate reddish brown which I use to smoke things out.
* Ritualistic is shimmery earthy purple.
* Sextrovert is a shimmery brassy bronze.
Every shade has excellent color payoff and I use fingers for the shimmers. You basically get four stunning lid colors, a smoke shade and a highlighter. I only have to add a matte transition shade – if that – and a pale matte eyeshadow on the brownbone for balance and I’m set. Longevity is great too.
I’m thrilled with Platinum Bronze, worth every penny for me. I have doubts about Mothership V but this one is a winner!

I bought the Pat McGrath Subliminal platinum bronze palette when Sephora had their VIB sale. It’s expensive. You get six eye shadows and it retails for $55. That’s a lot of money but it’s so beautiful. The colors are all cool toned browns with almost a purple undertone. It’s just gorgeous. There are 5 shimmers and 1 matte shade. The texture of the shadows are very smooth and they blend like a dream. I have worn this palette during a 12 hour nursing shift and the colors never creased or faded so to me that’s worth the price because I have come home after a long shift and look tore up and it’s not fun. I would recommend this is you want a good cool toned palette. I also have the warm toned Bronze Ambition palette and it’s beautiful too but I prefer this one just because I like the cool toned shades better.

Well I finally succumbed & had to purchase an eyeshadow palette from Pat McGrath. I saw the 6 shadow palettes @ Sephora online then decided which was for me.
I chose Subliminal Platinum Bronze 6 shadow palette of the new 3 just recently released.
I am warm toned & was hesitant to purchase a “cool” palette as so many bloggers labeled this as “cool” but were changing their minds to state this Platinum palette is warm toned. Tired of Neutrals I went for some color.
The palette itself is a bit more heavy than you’d expect. Heavier, say, than a MUFE 15 pan palette even. On trying to get the palette open, note there is clear tape holding it closed. I almost ripped that tape off in my hurry to open the Palette but didn’t want to then tear off a piece of the palette paper front.
Opening this little beauty was exciting. There are 6 lovely shadows covered by a plastic barrier which have the names of the shadow on it. Remove that, and voila!
Consistency of these eyeshadows is like butter – so rich, minimal dust up, able to just pat your brush on the shadow to get color yes, but to apply and blend you need to swirl just a little to get enough on your brush to apply.
Color tone: Excellent. Swatches are true to the color you see in ads.
The colors are beautiful. There are 3 that can be used to cover an entire lid, but the beauty is in application and blending.
Blended very well with minimal work.
8 hours after applying these shadows using Nars Eyeshadow primer and the color of the shadows were just as rich as they were on first application that morning.
Yes, now I am under Pat McGrath’s spell but won’t be purchasing any more from this brand as products are costly. I don’t need the bigger palettes so this 6 pan palette will see me through.
This palette may be my new HG, I love it so much.
For you warm toned folks, I am MAC NW 22-25 brown eyes & hair & this palette suited my skin tone perfectly. I can’t even see any “cool” toned here.
Can’t say anything bad about this palette except of course @ $55 it’s alittle steep but I am happy Pat McGrath offered the smaller palettes for those of us that can’t afford $125 (me).
The closure rubber band works well to keep the palette closed. I like the way the Viseart Petite Pro is designed to open & close their 6 pans better than this palette, which is bulkier than the 6 pan Petit Pro palette, but who cares? The packaging for the Subliminal Platinum Bronze palette feels strong & sturdy either way. It’s wonderful.
I am not sure I will ever purchase another palette. I may have reached my eyeshadow Nirvana with this palette, it’s that good.
The shade colors, again, are beautiful. The shadow product consistency is so smooth, easy to get on the brush. easy to apply & blend.
If only once, treat yourself to one of these babies. You won’t be sorry. I downloaded the picture above – my review is for the first one, not Sublime Bronze.
