This is a really nice pallete! I got it at beautycrunch.com for $15.00 so it was a steal. The colors are neutral and buildable. You can wear this to work or at night depending on how heavy you go. However I think that if you want a super black smoky eye or have darker skin you might want to skip this. It seems to be geared more for fair skin.
There is also a Stila video on Youtube by Stila themselves that take you through step by step. It’s cute, and I am glad I got this. You could easily go to MAC and get 2-3 similar colors and get the same effect though.

I got the grey version of this as a gift and I’m not sure I would have bothered getting it myself. The talking instructions gimmick really isn’t that useful, since I find that smoky eyes are pretty individual and the technique won’t work for everyone. The colors look wonderful on both fair skin and blue eyes and stay on quite well. It’s a bit pricey, and I don’t think the talking part is worth it, but it’s a nice group of pigments that can work for day or night, depending on whether you want to go for the smoky look or go more natural. I’d buy the palette again, but not the instructions.

For 40 dollars you can get MAC colors (and blend to create a smoky eye) and this is not even close in quality. The colors are pretty, and pigmented, and this set does talk. Tried this in sephora. Would not buy because the colors did crease within a few hours (no this does not regularly happen to me), and I found very similar quality products in lancome, clinique, etc.
A cheap way to try these colors is CQ color trio. They have the grey, med grey, and black colors. Another option is ELF quad in drama (through elf is not quality it is a good way to cheaply try colors before you buy).
They also have clinique in graphite OR blackberry frost (my favorite set for creating a smokey eye). I found that the clinique was the best quality and price when it came to these colors. And that Stila was overpriced and overhyped. Dont waste your 40 dollars on this.
