This is a great everyday palette to take with you to work. A basic daytime look can easily be transformed into a night time smokey eye with a bit of black eyeliner and a smudging brush. I wish the greyish shade on the top row was available in the permanent range as it is so versatile. The only shade I rarely use is the pinkish colour on the bottom row as it does nothing for my pale skin. Would definitely recommend this palette.

Honestly, I am on the fence about this palette. On one hand, the colors compliment themselves very well and can give you lovely, natural-looking eyes.
However, while the packaging is adorable (I like how small, sturdy, and travel-friendly it is), the payoff from these eyeshadows was disappointing. Even with primer, I have to really layer these eyeshadows to get them to show up, and I find the colors to be strangely similar to each other (all but the black and brown come out looking pinnk). I really wish this palette was more pigmented because it would be my favorite palette to take on trips if it did, but honestly, it is simply not worth the money. Don’t get this unless you’re willing to layer! I’m pretty sure cheaper shadows will give you the same sort of natural eye look for much less money.

LOVE this palette. I know some of the reviews state a few colors are very sheer and have bad color payoff, and yes it’s true but I really am enjoying this. The colors are Fire in her eyes(F): A light beige color with some sheen. Wide-eyed Wonder(F): A purple-brown taupey color. Black Magique (V): TO me his is a super dark brown almost black with glitters in it. Spell No.9(S): A very sheer light glittery pink. Decepion(F):A golden pink brown. and lastly, Smoke & Mirrors(S): A warm matte brown. I love using the deception but I really have to pack that baby on to get any color to show up with S&M in the crease and Fire in her eyes as a highlight. In my opinion most of these are dupeable and therefore I would not repurchase but I will enjoy this till it’s gone since it’s such a no-brainer. You really do not have to think about what to pair together, it’s already laid out for you.
Update: I have literally been using the palette every single day. I pretty much never use the left corner color, it’s just not for me. But I use all the rest. I use the top row together and the bottom row together, minus the highlight which I use the top left again. I have come to really hate the packaging and wanna get this used up and outta my drawer. It just takes up too much space.

i love this palette. i understand how some people doesn’t like this because the pigmentation are not as great as MAC’s other eyeshadows, but if you really use a primer and build it up, it’s great. i wasn’t too into this palette when i first got it because like a lot of views already said, it’s too sheer, but the more i use it, the more i see myself reaching for it. i’ts a really good neutral palette,, NOT SMOKEY PALETTE. it’s one of my go to palette when i don’t know what to do, so i just put this all over my eyes. it’s easy and it’s pretty on. and besides, the packaging is to die for. it’s so unique. and i got this at my local CCO for about $25 🙂

This palette has every neutral color needed for everyday looks. But there are a lot of dupe’s for them but it’s really convenient that they’re all in one little palette rather than 6 individual eye shadows. My favorite is the pinkish- beige eyeshadow but i found that malt is a similar color but a tad lighter.

Not quite pigmented compared to other LE palettes I own from MAC, but still looks good.

I absolutely love this palette. All the shades are stunning. I can do dramatic or daytime smokey eye with this. There’s an off white shade, a neutral pink, 2 purplish greys, a dark charcoal grey, and a chocolate brown. All have subtle shimmer without being OTT. All colors work well together and have great pigmentation. I even like the little brush it comes with. It’s much better than the usual sponge tip you get with other palettes. I had to have it the moment I saw it.

First let me say that the reason I bought this is because of the case it comes in! I love it. I use a lot of MAC products and love their eye shadows. I find this palette has a good variety of neautral colors. I love to mix and match and always make my look different. Some are more sparkly then I expected but thats great for a night out.

LE, Magic, Mirth, and Mischief Holiday 2009
Fire in Her Eyes (Frost) – yellowish beige with subtle shimmer; medium pigmentation
Wide-Eyed Wonder (Frost) – stony taupe with shimmer
Black Magique (Veluxe) – ashy grey-black with brown undertones and very subtle multi-color shimmer
Spell No. 9 (Satin) – dirty champagne pink with subtle shimmer; neutral-toned and sheer
Deception (Frost) – complex color – dirty olive-toned gold with shimmer
Smoke & Mirrors (Satin) – deep greyish brown; cool-toned
Product – Overall, the colors seem unspectacular, but together they make for a reliable neutral look or work-friendly soft (understated) smoky eye. I will agree with several of the other reviewers that the shadows are not as heavily pigmented as we have come to expect from MAC. I do, however, like that, because the palette is very easy to work with. Deception is my favorite color in this palette. I don’t have any issues with fallout.
Comparisons – Reminds me of BB Stonewashed Nudes palette, which I still have so I probably didn’t need to buy Smoke and Mirrors.
Packaging – Square compact in black plastic with mirrored metal lid and MAC logo and various colors and sizes of dots. It would be nice if the dots colors hinted at the color scheme inside, but they don’t 🙂 Full size mirror under the lid. There does not appear to be any kind of clasp to keep it shut, but it does stay shut on its own; there is no fingernail slot for opening it either. Six pans of color (looks like the same size as the 6-pans in NARS Best, etc) and a brush well for the included small e/s brush (unnumbered 213) with dark grey handle. Retailed for about $36.
Overall – Lovely assortment of neutral-to-cool neutrals, and can be used for a soft smokey eye too.
