Love this! I bought it at a little cosmetics boutique, and an hour or so later I was trying on jeans at AEO and slapped some on, since I wasn’t wearing any eyeshadow, just my regular tinted sunscreen and face powder over top – so I did not use a primer, nor did I put on any fresh face powder first. I just swiped it over my eyelids with a fingertip, and was very pleased, it looked good even under unflattering dressing room lighting. I also liked the formula, soft and creamy, yet dried quick.
Later, when I got home, it still looked good, fresh, and there was very minimal creasing and no fallout. The color selection is small, I believe only four….or was it six? I got the shade ‘First Light’ and frankly, I’m glad they don’t make a lot of colors, because I’d be buying more! First Light is a neutral, soft, champagne-gold shade, which I think would work for most people. I don’t believe that women over a certain age should avoid frost, for me, it really brightens up the eyes. And this shadow isn’t gaudy or too sparkly, just a mid range soft shimmer. I would think this would be great for people who don’t wear a lot of eye makeup, and just want something they can put on quick and easy. It probably would also function really well as a highlighter. And of course, the SPF 30 is awesome! Extra protection for the eye area is always a good thing, since the first signs of aging usually show up around the eyes, and it is a common area for skin cancers. I was concerned at first that this eyeshadow contains a chemical filter called octisalate (along with a whopping 20% zinc oxide) since I’m sensitive to some chemical sunscreens – but I experienced no burning or stinging, nor any other adverse reaction. It contains no parabens, no synthetic fragrance, and no oxybenzone.
I will probably….no, I am sure I will…go back to this store and see if maybe one of the other colors might work for me too. So, heck yeah, I will repurchase. I am considering trying out a lot more Supergoop! products. Everything I’ve have tried, I have been pleased with. Price is higher than drugstore, but not insultingly high, and the quality is very, very good – plus, it’s cruelty free and Made in the USA!

Supergoop is always creating new sunscreen products. Supergoop has a full lineup and they definitely have a sunscreen for everyone. I am pretty impressed with their latest product, an eye shadow that protects the delicate eye area from sun damage and burns. Currently, the Supergoop! Shimmershade Illuminating Cream Eyeshadow only comes in three different colors, but they are all pretty neutral as long as you don’t mind a bit of a sparkle. I picked up the shade First Light, which is the lightest of the three, and a beautiful silver-bronze shade.
I found that the Shimmershade Eyeshadow works best over an eye shadow primer. On days I used this without a primer I found creasing by the end of the day. I also had a bit of glitter fall-out when I used this without a primer. The other side effect of this shadow was a bit of dry flakiness on my eyelids. I do have very dry, sensitive eyelids. I am allergic to many eyeshadow primers, the worse offender for me, the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. One use of that and I have red racoon eyes for days. So this might not be a problem for most others.
I’ll probably save this product specifically for days where I’m spending a significant time outdoors, like days I’m going to take the boat out, or days I’m out hiking. For the average day where I’m inside most of the time I’ll probably pass on this shadow due to the dryness issue. Otherwise, this product is a good idea, especially for those who are outside a lot.
