After all these years, I “lucked” onto what seems to be an authentic compact of Discrete, and better still, I HAVE FOUND A DUPE!
The dupe is Coastal Scents’ “Sand Dune:”
Both Discrete and Sand Dune are a light greyish “pearl” color; a beautiful and unique cool neutral.
In my photo above, they don’t look all that much alike, but, believe me, they’re very close.
I can scarcely tell them apart when they’re swatched.
Sand Dune is actually smoother and better pigmented than Discrete, and may have a tiiiiiny bit more shimmer, but as far as color goes, they’re practically identical.
Since my Discrete is used, I don’t know if I’ll have the nerve to actually apply it to my lids, but it’s a lovely color that I’m very gratified to finally own.
Some people have likened Discrete to MAC “Shroom,” but I can’t agree; Shroom is lighter and much warmer.
I indicated that I would repurchase Discrete, but since it’s long since discontinued, I probably *couldn’t* find it again.
However, I like the color enough to gladly repurchase its dupe when the time comes.

Oooh, I was so disappointed in this shade. I was ecstatic to get my hands on it and much to my dismay, when I put it on my lids – nothing. It simply doesn’t show up! And I’m an LLL!

This is an amaxing shadow. I love it. Its very versatile…a natural wash or highlighting a smokey eye…Discrete has many uses. Its a light, very light beige shimmer. Its perfectly frosty and nicely blendable. This is the new Shroom!

A really nice eyeshadow. Too bad it was only limited edition. Can be used as an everyday color. Goes well with everything. I like using it as a base with just liner (or eyeshadow as a liner). Goes on as a light grayish color for me, but with a subtle sheen.

Everyone else described it better then i could have. If you mix shroom, seedy pearl and crisp, you get this unique shade, agrey taupe with iridescense. I will buy another one and hoard it because i’m paranoid like that. totally neutral and part of my HOLY

What a pretty eye shadow! I agree with the other person that said this is the gray version of Shroom. It is a shimmery light gray, ideal for a wash or as highlight color. I wore it today with Scene and Print e/s, and my brown eyes looked stunning! I will be buying more of this eye shadow for sure!

Greyed taupe is the perfect way to describe Discrete because it is definitely not beige, but definitely not grey either. Rather, it’s a lovely blend of the two. It has just enough shimmer to give it a hint of dimension, but it is not obviously shimmery, which is great in my opinion. Discrete is a great all purpose shade that I like to wear as a base color or as a wash by itself. I am planning to repurchase since this is LE.

I think Dicrete is accurately described as a greyed taupe with a slight shimmer. It is more grey than Retrospeck with no glittery shimmer. Very great base shade.

This is a holy grail! I have been waiting for a color like this from MAC…Discrete is a light pearlescent shimmery gray-beige as MAC would call it “greige”. (Or you could call it a light taupe) In some lights it looks more gray, in others it looks more beige. Anyways its so beautiful and neutral…goes with all my eyeshadows, especially all my shimmery taupes. I have used it everyday since I bought it…I LOVE it! I have to stock up since its LE 🙁

This color looks like nothing special in the pot, but on the eyes it’s indescribable. A perfect shade that complements any crease color, yet stands out all on its own. This was a wonderful choice, and I am glad I got one before they’re all gone!
