I was on the fence about this palette when I first purchased it, having bought into the hype I kept seeing online. At first, I wasn’t too thrilled with the level of glitter in the shimmery shades, as I’d become accustomed to the intensity of the Colourpop Kathleen Lights Dream St. palette. But I did fall in love with the mattes immediately. After getting over my initial attitude about the shimmers and deciding not to compare apples to oranges, I decided that I really do love this palette.
Each shade offers something gorgeous:
The first shade in this 10-pan palette is a light gold shimmer. I won’t call it champagne, as it’s more yellow-toned than that. It’s an amazing highlight for the inner corner or browbone.
The next shade is a pale rose gold. It’s more of a gold shimmer densely suspended in a pink base. I find it to be very flattering, and a rather unique shade. I enjoy this on minimal makeup days.
Next is a pinkish mauve shade that works perfectly as a transition shade for more berry- or rose-toned looks. I love this in the crease as well, with the aforementioned rose gold on my minimal days.
Next is a matte, warm light brown shade. Another great transition shade that works perfectly with the warmer tones in this palette.
The next shade is a gorgeous deep bronze with an almost greenish undertone to it. It’s unique in that it doesn’t get muddy at all, like may deeper bronze shades can. I love how this makes my light brown eyes really pop!
The next shade is one of my favorites. It’s a true gold. It’s not too yellow, not too cool. It’s absolutely perfect. I’ve used this shade more than any other shade in this palette so far!
Then comes the coppery orange shade. The shimmer in this is actually pretty substantial! I haven’t used it too much, as I do prefer the coppery shade in the KL Dream St. palette, but this is definitely a great shade if you don’t already have a dupe.
The shimmering cool berry red next to that is another stunner. Very shimmery and pulls almost to a deep pink depending on the other colors you pair it with.
The last two shades are mattes – one light reddened brown, and one darker brown with almost purple undertones. I loooooove these for when I’m playing around with matte, sort of grungy looks.
All the shades in this palette blend like a dream, which has been consistent with e.l.f. palettes ever since the Mad for Matte 2 was released. Actually, MFM2 and RGS are an amazing pairing as well! Between the two, the options are endless!
As with all e.l.f. palettes, I love the simple, minimalist packaging. The mirror is substantial enough to be able to do more detailed work, but these babies are also small enough to make them perfect for travel. Sturdy, sleek, and wonderful. Nothing about it feels “drugstore”.
At $10, you really cannot beat these palettes. They are such a great value for money, and e.l.f. really stayed true to itself with this palette, having remained consistent in quality and shade selection. Definitely will repurchase!
