This duo is a really nice combination to have everytime everywhere for touch-ups and for travels.
I discovered this little gem in a review from Temptalia where she praised the outstanding quality, so when I was in the store to buy BM 5-in-1 Eyeshadow and I wanted to test how it performed as base I needed some powder eyeshadow to apply on the top and gave this duo a try.
It looked so nice and the application was so effortless that I decided to buy this as well.
The good thing is that the package is thin and light enough to carry with me – which I can’t do with my palettes.
Colours:
The light shade is a yellow based ivory, very pigmented, perfect as base to counteract any redness of the lid. I think that although it is matte, it has an imperceptible satiny finish, not the typical flat matte. The quality is superior to other BM shadows I know from the large 8.0 palettes, especially compared to the light shades, as it has more coverage and last longer.
The dark shade is a satiny taupe-brown that on my lids has a greyish pay-off. With this colour it is possible to do everything. It can be used as a liner with a fine wet brush, it can be smudged on the upper and lower lash line for the kajal effect, it can be used all over the lid for a strong smoky eye or buffed in the crease to define and sculpt the eyes.
Both colours are very long-lasting and can be applied with every kind of brush, foam tip or with the fingertips.
My only complain is the applicator – useless – and the black rubber case because it looks always so dirty. I would wish BM would make cases in another material, I.e. the silver or rose gold of some palette cases.
I’m really keen to buying more of the duos as they have interesting combinations and the quality beats many high end brands. Price in the middle range, actually quite convenient considering the amount and the quality.

I bought this eyeshadow-duo because of a really good review on youtube. I think I felt for “applies butter smooth”. And yes, they do. As a matter of fact, I really love the beige. And they do applies butters-smooth, I really like the feeling. BUT, the dark-taupe-brown..It is so hard to get it even, and after just 2 hours the shadows starting to flake and to smudge in the crease and fall down under my eyes. I have tried Urban Decays primer (my favourite!), all other shadows seem to stay in place with this, even the cheaper ones. But this…I have never seen such a mess on my eyelids after a few hours! The next day I tried with more amount primer, I waited extra long for it to dry, then I struggled with the shadow again.. Same result. Next day after my Urban Decay-primer I did put on some loose powder to get an really even surface on the eyelids, same bad result.. I tried other primers (for example Too Faced that also is really good), I tried with more and less amount primers, with no powder before the shadow, I tried with different high quality brushes to apply the dark shadow, but the result is just a catastrophe! I really like the beige one, it´s mat and neutral, and I use it to smooth out the dark one, but I really cant recommend this, sorry!

I was so impressed with my first “Ready Eyeshadow” purchase that I wanted to give more of their pressed shadows a try so I bought The Escape last week.
Each of the pans in this duo weighs about the same as one MAC eye shadow pan (0.05 oz.) but you get 2 shadows for $25 CDN, an infuriating full FIVE dollars more than they cost in the US, which is very annoying! Still, the duo represents very good value for money weighed up against MAC shadows which run $18 per shadow. The packaging of the Bare Minerals duos is much nicer in that it includes a really decent mirror and it’s much easier to hold onto. Also, as the tops are FLAT, these are much easier to stack one on top of the other (which I have to do with a lot of my makeup).
Now on to the shadows themselves. They are every bit as good as I was expecting based on my experience with The Star Treatment. I bought this duo as I wanted a nice, solid neutral pair of shadows. “Daydream” looks basically like nothing on my eyes, because it’s basically the colour of my skin, but works great as a base or a very subtle transition colour and it a great matte highlight for daytime and when you don’t want a product that screams “highlight” on your brow bone. “Wanderlust” (the darker of the 2 shades) looks fairly matte in the pan but applies more satiny and with a bit more “life” than a true matte shadow (I find that sometimes, those can look a bit “dead” and actually emphasize my eyelid imperfections rather than masking them). Wanderlust is a cool-toned rich brown and is one of those very versatile colours that can work in all situations….great for creating a darkened crease, excellent as an all-over the lid colour (you can blend it easily from a dark application in one area to a softer, lighter layer in another area of your lid), great as an “outer V” emphasizer and it works as a smokey liner too, smudged into/above your lashes. I believe these can also be used wet, though I haven’t tried that yet. All in all this is a true “workhorse” duo….maybe not the most exciting duo to look at but a great one to use. In fact, I think a better name for it (though perhaps not very glamorous) would be “The Workhorse”! Wear for these shadows is also excellent. Although I always wear a primer. I tried these without primer just to see how they lived up to the claims and they were really long wearing and didn’t crease, which surprised me, as I had applied a fairly moisturizing eye cream.
I certainly plan to get a few more of these duos (I love the look of The Scenic Route) or perhaps the quads as they are great shadows, well packaged and wonderful to use.

I wanted to try the Bare Minerals eyeshadow AND I was also looking for “travel friendly” e/s in natural, neutral shades. I don’t always want to be packing e/s palettes and I was drawn to the sturdy, compact packaging of these duos. It even has a mirror. The shade “Wanderlust” is a great neutral to cool, medium brown (hard to find) and “Daydream” is very close to my skin tone but with a bit of shimmer – great for blending out and/or as a brow highlight. I feel like I could throw this in my carry-on and have shades for a professional, natural look and also not worry about them getting wrecked. I am impressed with the Bare Minerals e/s. Very soft, buttery, pigmented and long-wearing (seriously, it doesn’t budge!). Also, fragrance free and non-irritating if you have sensitive skin (like all of the Bare Escentuals products). I would definitely try out some more shades!

I got this after seeing swatches of the Brown Suede, which is really pigmented. I have to say that the overall texture and workability (is that a word?) of these shadows is different from what I am used to, being the UD junkie that I am. For instance, I prefer to apply shadow with a brush, but these duos come with a sponge tip applicator (good quality). So of course I initially ignored it and used a brush, and had trouble blending the colors. Once I used the applicator it came with, though, suddenly I was able to work with the colors. So the lesson there is, trust the company to include the right tool, I guess.
Now, I do have to say that, while the Brown Suede is very highly pigmented, it pales considerably once blended. This isn’t a bad thing, in fact, I found that using this duo alone on my eyes gave me a verrrry natural look. I mean, it looks more natural than any other shadows I have. Since that’s my thing, I’m not complaining. It’s just that usually, highly pigmented shadows don’t blend away like this one does. So if when you first apply Brown Suede you are freaked at the color, relax. It will be fine.
The lighter shade, Nude Creme, is a bit too light for my taste. I find I prefer it as a highlight or as a base for something with a little more oomph.
Overall. I’m impressed, though, and I think I’d like to get another duo with a more pigmented light shade, perhaps The Epiphany.
I like the packaging, it’s very durable, and I can actually see my eyes in the mirror.
These are a bit pricey in my opinion, though, so while I would buy again, it wouldn’t be top of my list.

I am very into neutral eyeshadows which is why I decided to purchase this eyeshadow duo. It comes with a matte, creamy beige color and dark bronzy-taupe color with a slight sheen to it.
It is perfect for wear either during the day or night. Overall, I think that this is a good buy. To make these eyeshadows last all day and not crease, a primer is recommended. These eyeshadows are not oil-free.
Also, I cannot attest to these eyeshadows providing any anti-aging or smoothing benefits to one’s eye area. I don’t actually have any problems with wrinkling or crepiness at such time around my eyes.
The pressed READY shadow compacts did come smaller than what I originally expected. You do not get a whole lot of product for your money. That’s the only con I see with this product (in my opinion).
