Like I said in my review of Bubblegum Pocket candy, I’m wondering if there is an inconsistency in the formula. People either rave, comparing it to the venus palettes, or compare it to children’s makeup. Unfortunately I got the chalky and dry version of this. I’m very glad I got these on sale and did not spend full price.
Smacy on youtube said that Lime Crime spent more money on packaging than the formula and she’s right. Even the shimmers manage to be wisps of color and the glitter falls out everywhere. The yellow is extremely disappointing and even with setting spray is near impossible to pick up product. The palette also has a sickly plastic smell. Everything about these reminds me of Claire’s makeup.
The plushies quads are Significantly more pigmented and better performing than the pocket candy palettes and I would suggest investing in those over these.

I love this palette! I bought two, Pink Lemonade and Bubblegum. I feel the colors are stunning and high quality…I don’t really get the bad reviews at all. The two top colors can be used as blushes also. I really love it, out of the two, Bubblegum is my favorite just because the colors are more “me”..but they are all beautiful. And they really do have a nostalgic 90s Polly Pocket vibe to them.

The Pocket Candy compact in combo Pink Lemonade contains the following shades/finishes; BROWN SUGAR (pink-brown, satin), PINK JELLY (rose pink, velvet matte), STRAWBERRY (strawberry pink-red, sparkle), BABY CAKE (chocolate brown, velvet matte) and LEMONADE (sparkling yellow-gold, shimmer). The shade Pink Jelly doubles as a blush and Lemonade doubles as a cheek highlighter.
I’m really into this more compact type of palette now, where things are multi-purpose and most of the shades are focused around a theme; a palette that doesn’t waste lots of it’s space (and therefore our money) by including several of the same kind of basic highlight/crease/transition shades that the average makeup lover already has many times over – I’m sure that we all have plenty of neutral shades that we love in other palettes, that we can use in conjunction with this palette to make it go further. I’d say that the shadows in here are similar to the ones in Lime Crime’s smaller Venus palettes; buttery smooth, easy to blend, great to mix together to create new shades and they have next to no fallout. The shimmer shades feel exactly like the mattes do formula-wise. All of the shadows are non-fading, and I haven’t experienced any creasing – I apply them in the morning [no primer] and they’ll still look good in the evening, when I remove it. The sparkle shades have a bit more fallout in comparison to the other shadows which have very little, which isn’t a dealbreaker for me but I still thought I’d mention it. Fallout in shadows doesn’t really bother me as I do my eyes before my base – all pigmented & softer shadows have fallout, so I do think that all good-quality shadows should kick-up a bit.
Any disappointments? There are two ‘basic’ shades in the palette, which I think is a waste of space as this compact is meant to be themed. I’ll let them get away with the rose brown shade as it sorta fits the theme, but with only five pans to fill, I feel as though they could have at least have the chocolate brown have had some yellow in to fit the ‘lemonade’ theme – most makeup wearers already have a dozen different chocolate brown shades already, so make it a bit different.
This is of a great quality, plus the Polly Pocket inspired packaging is insanely cute – and whilst there are only five shades in the palette and the price isn’t much less than one of Lime Crime’s 8-pan Venus palettes is, the shadow pans here are actually slightly larger in comparison, so I feel as though the price is justifiable. I enjoy this product, but clicked ‘no’ on rebuy as I now have the Violet Voss HG palette, which has similar shadow shades/finishes – but that palette has fewer basic-type ‘filler’ shades in, that have really begun to irritate me lately. If you look this kind of shade range and don’t want a larger, more pricey palette, then I recommend looking into Pink Lemonade.

Who is this easily pleased reviewer before me? Did you get it free? Go onto youtube and see all the bomb reviews or at least swatch before you buy so you won’t be disappointed like me.
If you’re used to the Venus palettes, these Polly Pockets-eque palettes will make you cry with shame. For the US $34 price the formula of all 3 of the palettes is terrible. Most of the shades in each palette is so sheer, has huge fallout and blends away to nothing. Most shades don’t stick to the eyes even with a wet brush or pressed onto the eye with a finger. I would buy these for $5 to give to a 8 – 12 year old to play around with.
PINK LEMONADE PALETTE (YELLOW): The 3 shimmers are terrible, the 2 mattes are usable. Lemonade (centre) is the worst. Its a chalky, chunky glitter that is worse than the Subculture shimmers. Worse, because there is no pigment in the base and it doesn’t stick to the eye (even pressed on with a finger or packed with a wet brush, yes I know how to work a bad formula). So you get loose glitter that falls everywhere and won’t stick to the eye. The other shade I was looking forward to, Strawberry (bottom left) has NO pigment and won’t stick to the eye, blends to sheer nothing.
BUBBLEGUM PALETTE (BLUE): Bubble (centre) is a pale blue shimmer with balmost no pigment. Glow (bottom left) is a purple shimmer thats disappointing dusty nothingness. Snap (top right), is a nice pink shimmer if you press onto the eye with a finger and don’t blend.
SUGAR PLUM PALLETE (PINK): All sad, sad, shimmers, no mattes. Icing (centre) is a chunky white glitter that looks princessy cute if pressed with a finger onto the inner corner of the eye. Candied Plum (bottom left) is a sweet berry pink with microglitter, and you can get a nice look if pressed with a finger (again, don’t blend or it disappears). Nutcracker (bottom right), is the darkest shade but has rubbish pigment. Top right, blue is dusty sheer glitter. I just can’t go on 🙁
The compacts are designed to trigger nostalgia and suck money out of the wallets of nice, kind people who deserve better makeup. If you like to collect cute packaging like me, I’d say PASS. Keep your eyes shut and don’t look at the cute packaging. Keep walking/scrolling and and get something else even cuter that actually works. Like the recent Color Pop My Little Pony (a bit dry, not as good as the regular Color Pop formula but still enjoyable.) Too Faced Peach Powder. Or something from Paul & Joe with the refillable kitten packaging 😉

HOLY GRAIL ALERT! I don’t usually gush about a certain brand or become emotionally attached to inanimate objects, but all those rules have been broken. This palette is DEAR TO MY HEART.
I purchased a few Lime Crime Velveteen liquid lipsticks online, and decided to give the eye shadows a try. I was surprised at my adoration for this, because I was pretty disenchanted with the lipsticks.
Packaging is a huge way to rope me in. I’m a child of the 90’s and Polly Pocket toys were one of my favorite things to play with, I took one everywhere. That is what this compact mimics! A soft buttery yellow Polly Pocket-like compact that is heavy and we’ll made, with a mirror and a shade guide on the back. The Pocket Candy collection has three different palettes, I purchased the more warm-neutral collection in Pink Lemonade for $35.
Inside are five candy color shades: Brown Sugar (a matte warm neutral brown with a hint of pink) Pink Jelly (a pretty, dusty rose pink with a shimmery pearl) Strawberry (a deep reddish pink with a pink glitter) Baby Cake (a deep chocolate brown matte) and Lemonade (a bright metallic cream with gold shimmer.)
All of the shades are fairly pigmented, looked the same on the skin as in the pan, the mattes went on better with a brush than swatched with a finger. The glitter did fall a bit, but all of the other pros of this product made that insignificant. The wear was great, 8 hours with setting spray and primer.
I am pretty impressed. I will be buying the other two Pocket Candy palettes as gifts for my 90’s baby friends for the holidays.
