   Pleasantly surprised by this!
   I typically shy away from d/s palettes. But a yt guru whom I generally trust (lipglossleslie) reviewed this and her review of it was pretty favorable. Up until seeing her review, most of the reviews I had seen (albeit for Volume 1) were not glowing. But she said she liked this Volume 2, which is the cooler-toned palette. Volume 1 did not appeal to me bc of the reviews and really, they were colors I have more times than once-over in my collection. And, I do prefer cooler tones, so after seeing lipglossleslie’s review, I decided to peek!!

   I am pleasantly shocked at the pigmentation of these. The brush/sponge applicator is also a nice touch for those who are new to makeup or do not have brushes. Although the sponge is actually quite soft, and the brush really isn’t bad at all!

   I think this would be great for travelling. It is long, but sleek, and a good variety of colors that can take you from daytime to nighttime, from casual to special occasion.

   I also do not find these to be chalky or powdery at all, which is always a concern for me with eyeshadows in general, not just from the drugstore. But I do not see any fallout on my eyes nor the pan. These last every bit as long on me as the Tarte mattes, or the Urban Decay shadows, so I am just really shocked, and pleasantly surprised!! I find I do not even need a primer with these, and these last just as long on me as the h/e shadows that I ‘have’ to use a primer with!! So glad I caved and relented and got this. Do I need it..? No. But I am glad to have purchased this and can see me reaching for this quite often!! This even comes with a mirror. While I personally do not care about that aspect, I know many prefer a mirror with their palettes. This mirror is narrow, but long.

   As for the price..while some say it is steep for drugstore, I do not think that is really true when you look at the amount of product. A Covergirl quad eyeshadow here is around $8.00 for only 4 shadows and with this you get 10 shadows for not even $16.00, so far more product per ounce/dollar compared to the Covergirl, and imo Covergirl shadows are not as good of quality or not as nice as these, anyway. Also I have heard ppl have seen these at Rite Aid, and Rite Aid has 40% off Loreal right now so if you can pick these up on sale or with a coupon, I think these are definitely worth checking out!!! If you’ve been holding off on the Urban Decay palettes, these might be a nice alternative!! And, truth be told I like these containers better than the UD Naked palettes.

   Nice budget palette from L’Oreal. I must say I love the concept of the palette more than I love its execution, but the quality of the shadows is better than expected even if they’re not the absolute best shadows the drug store has to offer. Apart from their phenomenal Infallible shadow line, I’ve always been underwhelmed L’Oreal’s eye shadows. More often than not they either lacked pigmentation, were difficult to blend, had crappy staying power, were so hard you had to scrape product off the top in order to be able to pick anything up with your brush, or all of the above. These shadows don’t have those problems. While they definitely need a base of some kind if you want them to adhere properly and the mattes kick up enough powder during application to be potentially messy (beware of fall out!), they’re silky in texture, lay down smoothly and evenly, have pretty good pigmentation and last all day long on me without fading or creasing so long as I don’t skimp on the eye primer. All 10 shadows are soft and give me no trouble when I pick up product with my brush, whether I’m using something firm or fluffy. They blend pretty well, though the matte shades take a little more work than my high end shadows do to blend.

   This palette contains 10 shades with a focus on plum toned neutrals, rose golds and taupes. It’s not a dupe for any of the UD Naked palettes, but it would complement both the Naked 2 and the Naked 3 nicely. Neutrals with purple undertones are my jam, so I was really excited to try this palette despite my lack of enthusiasm for L’Oreal eyeshadows. It’s marketed as being best suited for deeper skin tones, but it’ll work just fine for anyone who prefers their neutrals to be cool toned. There’s a good mix of light shades and dark shades and an equal number of matte and shimmery shades. If Urban Decay Naked palettes and their knockoffs are too glittery and shimmery for you, this is a great palette to check out as even the shimmery shades are less flashy than the ones you’ll find in the Naked palettes. I’ve been using this palette for a week now and it has everything I need to pull off a variety of looks, from a subtle no-make up look to a dark and smoky look and thanks to the two purple shades I can even create looks more bold and colorful than you’d expect from a nude palette. My only complaint with the shade choices is that the lighter matte shades can look a little muddy on me when applied.

   This palette comes in a sleek black packaging with a clear window taking up half the front. It has a mirror inside that is too narrow for regular use but not so small that it can’t work in a pinch. It also has a double sided applicator that has a sponge on one end and a brush on the other, which I immediately tossed as it’s kinda of flimsy and I prefer my own brushes. The well in the palette that the brush came in is sadly too shallow to be filled with any of my other brushes. The back of the palette also has suggestions for 4 different eye looks which I think is a nice touch for people who find larger palettes intimidating and struggle at branching out from using the same 2-3 shades every time.

   Overall I think this is a very good palette for L’Oreal! It doesn’t kill my desire for Urban Decay to release a fourth Naked palette filled with plummy neutrals, but it’ll do for now and was definitely worth the $16 I paid for it.
