A matte version of the Lise Watier cream eyeshadows in pots. Unlike the shimmery Souffle version, this is not airy and bouncy and it almost immediately transforms from cream to silky powder when applied.
I have this in the shade “Rose Thé” (that I’m guessing translates to “tea rose”?) which is a pale and muted mauve-pink. Used as a light wash of colour it looks slightly brightening on my cool-yellow skintone and is surprisingly natural looking. I think cool-toned pinks tend to look bad on me but this is muted enough that it neither clashes with my skintone nor does it make me look sick. Personally I had hoped that it was a bit more purple than pink.
The cream is easily applied with fingers or a cream eyeshadow brush. Because of how thin the consistency is, it does take multiple passes with a brush or finger to pick up enough product as to build up a stronger colour on the lid(this can actually be beneficial with the darker shades I think), but this also makes it very hard to overdo it when applying. Almost immediately the cream turns to powder and blends readily, so much that you could completely blend it away if you get carried away. It doesn’t set as grippy and rigid as some other cream shadows do so even after it has set you could further diffuse it a bit. There are also no issues with applying powder eyeshadow on top of it.
This product is touted as being long lasting and waterproof but because of how powdery it dries I’m doubtful. I have tested it on my bare eyelids and it doesn’t crease as fast, but it still does on my hooded lids. Friction can also rub it away.
The packaging is very standard, glass pot with plastic screw on lid. It does come with a (cheap) sponge applicator, but it might as well not have as it is useless with this product. Though even Revlon can provide a usable brush that fits into the packaging so there’s no excuse why a high end brand does not.
For 27 CAD this is a pricey shadow, but the price is in line with Lise Watier’s positioning as a mid-high end brand. I’m happy with the quality but it’s definitely a splurge. Luckily I had a great coupon from Shoppers Drug Mart.
I would recommend this if you don’t already have plenty of eyeshadow and are looking for a simple one-and-done cream eyeshadow that is natural, fool-proof, quick to apply, and that you do not mind building up pigment(if you desire it). It’s also very suitable as an eye base.
