I’m just here to make people aware of the fact that lots of shops i.e Douglas sell NYX for an extremely overpriced price. Last summer I was in Hong Kong and it was just terrible. Therefore I would like to advise everyone to take a minute and look at the official American NYX website before purchasing any of their products in a store. Xoxo

Huh. From the online description–deep cool grey-brown–I was really wanting this. But I couldn’t find it in any stores, and really didn’t want to do a whole order from NYX (trying to control my collecting, ugh!) just for this. So when I saw it was available through Amazon (from which I was already ordering), I went for it.
Well…unless they changed something, the color isn’t really what they described. Not that it’s bad, just that it’s VERY similar to another NYX shadow, Own the Night (which I already had). They are both very dark muted purpley browns. Haywire is just a tiny bit darker. A little disappointed…this is why I hate buying without trying!

This is the PERFECT shadow for the outer V. I’ve been looking for a color like this for a while. I like that it pairs nicely with so many different other shadows. My favorite combination so far is loreal amber rush on the lid, haywire in the outer V and any midtone brown to blend out the crease. As with all powder eyeshadow, this is definitely better over a primer or base.

I haven’t used this not on my eyes (although I think it would be gorgeous) but I use it as… Drumroll… A contour shade. I don’t like using bronzers as contour shades. Shadows are not brown. They are gray. I saw this swatch on a beauty bloggers website comparing tons on bronzing options. Wonderful taupe gray. I actually achieve MY perfect contour color by mixing this NYX Haywire shadow with NYX Taupe Blush. The taupe blush gives it just a hint warmer and more flesh like. Also the blush’s texture is more blend able than this shadow.
My skin tone is light with neutral to slightly yellow tone.

Great for the price. Was looking for a non shimmer, neutral color. The only problem is that it creases and disappears on my oily eyelids. Stays a little longer with primer.
For the price I think these are very good buys.

UPDATE: I love pairing this with MAC all that glitters all over lid-MAC wedge in the crease and Haywire in the corner smoked out.
I have a ton of shimmers from having both Naked palettes and i was looking for some matte colors. Found this one for super cheap and i loooove it. I have started to pair it with MAC satin taupe and MAC naked lunch.

I think this is a gorgeous color. I LOVE taupes! Pretty much any color taupe… This one is a greyish/purplish/brown color. I think it’s really nice. I have to say that I much prefer this formulation to any other NYX shadow I’ve tried. Definitely interested in trying more.

This is not the best product nor the worst out there. I am not a high end person; there are great products at every price range I believe. I got this during a 40% off sale recently so it was pretty much a steal. The texture is fairly smooth and adheres well. I am not really a primer sort of person; a layer of foundation on the eyelids is fine by me. Now the color of this is really unusual. You can lift the plastic cover on the display to access the tester pots. I played around with this on the back of my hand trying to figure out what color it was: gray? purple? brown? taupe? it is a deep combination of all these colors. I’d call it neutral to cool, not warm as there is no red or orange or yellow to the color. I find it very nice with my brown eyes. I have not tried it wet as an eye liner but I think it is dark and intense enough for this, or for a smokey eye if you are in to that look. The supply for the nude matte shades was almost gone and only a few shades were available. I wouldn’t call this a true matte: there is the smallest hint of shine but nothing too noticeable. On the down side, looking at the testers for this assortment, there were real gaps in what I would consider a comprehensive grouping of matte looks for the “nude” palette. The browns tended toward warm shades (with a touch of orange/yellow) and I sadly saw that most of the shades would not work for me. Ochre??? (A yellowish brown) I don’t think so. I think this is a flaw of NYX–there are dozens of eyeshadow shades, but the lack of a range of matte purples, for example, is frustrating. And one must really hunt out the truly matte shades for a classic eye look. Great line if you are into bright red or yellow eyeshadow, but for the less adventurous, I am still looking for a good brand.
