The colour range is very beautiful, with lots of purple, pink, gold and bronzy shades. They have solid, buildable pigment and the colour combination suggestions printed on the back of the palette gave some lovely results. It’s very versatile for day and night looks despite the high amount of shimmers.
I do think the two mattes tagged onto the end are a bit chalky and I don’t find them so appealing. But the rest of the colours are way too good.
One problem is with the packaging. It is a plastic case, a little bit flimsy but serviceable. The two-sided applicator/brush seems pretty useless. Some of the pans can and will pop out, so the palette does need to be handled with relative care (not held upside down to examine the instructions on the bottom, as I realised almost too late!) But I don’t consider perfect packaging vital if the product is awesome, and this one is!

Let me start by saying that this palette is a HUGE step up from their previous palettes of this format. If you’ve previously tried the other Maybelline Nudes palettes & are thinking this is more of the same – you owe it to yourself to buy this one, because it’s a different formula and it’s amazing. I bought this on a whim in Wal-Mart. I own the previous Maybelline palettes in this format (The Nudes, The Blushed Nudes, The 24K Nudes), and assumed it would be the same formula – dry, chalky, limited pigmentation. I could not have been more wrong. The Burgundy Bar is soft, buttery smooth, and highly pigmented – almost reminiscent of Lorac’s shadow formula. The colors are perfect for fall and there’s a nice variety. The shimmers and mattes both have great pigmentation, blend nicely, and hold up all day over eye primer. I didn’t find any duds in the palette, and I can honestly say that this palette’s formulation holds its own against mid-range and higher-end shadows. I instantly threw away the brush/sponge-tip applicator that came with the palette, but otherwise I can find no fault with this one. This is a big win for Maybelline and I would most definitely repurchase it.

This is the palette I have Soooo been searching for.
Gorgeous champagnes, rose golds, burgundies and coppers. The shades include:
A pearly creamy light beige, a matte neutral brown (on the cool side), a matte darker brown (on the cool side), a pinkish burgundy, a pretty bright but subdued gold, a brown with a hint of bronze, copper, red, and 3 champagne shades (one that is a little more beige) with different undertones and flecks of glimmer.
This is useful for a variety of looks, glamorous or neutral and subdued. The texture is smooth, buttery, without fallout (which is common with glittery shadows) and pigmented. The staying power is also great.
The packaging is simple but cute with a burgundy case. It could be a little bit more robust to avoid the lid coming off but if you are gentle and handle your makeup with care it should be fine!
