This was my first Kat Vin D purchase, and it cost me a small fortune, am I glad I spent that much? No. Here’s why; 1) As someone else said the eyeshadow is chalky and has heaps of fall out, 2) some of them are more pigmented in the package than when actually used, 3) they don’t blend so well, I had a struggle to get the colors to blend, granted I’m not that good I still expect something I’ve just paid good money for to be able to do the job that’s intended. 4) The packaging is cool, I like the fact it’s meant to be an old vinyl, but it’s impractical, I accidentally dropped it (not from a great height), but none of the shadows were damaged, I can’t store this with my usual eye shadows because it won’t fit, so it’s kinda bulky. Overall, for paying so much I expected so much more, from what I’ve read I’ve now learned that a lot of KVD eye shadows are hit and miss.

I actually won a $50 Sephora giftcard so I decided to use it to buy this palette. If I had paid all out if pocket for this, I’d have returned it.
Pros: Great color selection, unique colors, hard to dupe colors, healthy mixture of finishes, healthy ratio of neutrals and brights, good pigmentation, true to color
Cons: No mirror, packaging is just foamboard, not travel friendly, bulky, packaging is not secure, inconvenient layout, font difficult to read, 75% of colors are either chalky, fallout happy, or hard to blend.
I created a couple of looks with this palette and its ridiculous. Its gigantic, most of the eyeshadow is chalky as heck, a few dont blend well, Mayhem and Lemmy are ESPECIALLY fallout happy. Im losing tons of product and yes, I know what I’m doing.

I originally bought this palette to add some bright colors to my eyeshadow collection. There are some neutral colours in this palette but not enough to complete a makeup look IMO. I would have to reach for colors outside of this palette.
The eye shadows themselves are quite pigmented. Unfortunately, they are EXTREMELY powdery and there’s a lot of fallout. As pigmented as they were, i didn’t find they held on too well when blending. It’s very easy to blend too much and result in a very muddy color.
The packaging while stunning… is not very practical. It’s very big and not secure. There were times where the palette would just slip out and almost fall to my floor. While i understand it’s supposed to resemble an old fashioned record player, it’s not a practical packaging for a makeup palette.
All in all, for the price of this palette, it’s expensive and the quality isn’t there. That combined with the fact that it irritated my eyes every time I used it (probably due to the large powder kick up)…. I ended up returning it.

I love this pallette its beautiful!! The only issues with it is packaging… It slides out of the sleeve… Its fine if its small but this is large and the only covering for the shadows. It has a liner page …. With tips which is nice
The shadows are breath taking…. The only problem is the packaging
Ive split the seam on the side glued it to the tray and used velcro dots to make it a flap open and closed found a random piece of the plastic foam paper cut to size and works better

I got this palette during VIB and used it right away. I fell in love. The artwork is beautiful and the concept of the color wheel/record is creative and amazing. My 1st es look turned out beautifully, so creamy so buttery. Then, I tried it again :-/ with different colors, I fought with chunky chalky yuck. I had so much fallout. So, I tried a third look last night. And that look has prompted this review. I mixed shades in this palette with some from other palettes. And the difference was more obvious. KVD has some beautiful shadows mixed with complete nonsense. It’s so hit and miss. I kinda expected a bit more for the price.
So, I guess it would depend on why you’re buying this palette. . .
If you just want some color variety. . .Pass. You can get great colors from other brands at better quality and probably better price.
I don’t dislike the palette enough to return, there are definitely some gorgeous shades that blend like a dream. I Just don’t see myself reaching for it a lot when I have more convenient palettes that work better.

I was excited about this palette when it first came out because it’s huge and has a large selection of colors. I really don’t need any more eye shadows but I love makeup and I really love Kat Von D makeup so I bought it. The shadows are placed by color family in a color wheel shape. They range from neutral browns and creams all the way to vibrant blues and yellows. I’m at the age now where most people wouldn’t wear vibrant colors but I have found that if I do a smoky eye or a neutral eye and use one of the bright colors to line my bottom lash line or use them as an eye liner then it works well for me. Do not be afraid of the colors in this palette. They are beautiful and very wearable. I love the formula of Kat’s eye shadows, they are velvety smooth. There is a good range here with mattes, lustres, and some shimmer. The design of the palette is beautiful but the card board pull out makes it a little awkward to use. Other than that, it’s a winner.

You need this palette! The bright shades are so richly pigmented and easy to use. The neutrals are also lovely, and blend like a dream. The only downside is the packaging. It is not ideal for travel or on the go.

I LOVE this palette! If you love playing with colors then I high recommend this palette or if you like add it pops of colors then I recommend this palette again! The colors are so pigmented and it’s sometimes rare to find colorful shadows that will show. They are also blend able I use my
Morphe brushes and it’s just perfect. I bought this palette when it was released and I cannot put it down. I would highly recommend this palette to anyone.

Love this palette! Tons to play with and you could go on for days making new looks. My eyes stayed on all night with no creases or smudging. My eyes were as bright at the end as they were when I first put it on. Big thumbs up. Personally the palette design is cute but not ideal for application and it is huge.

I bought this a month ago. I love it!!!! I don’t own many pallets with bright and bold colors. So I had to have it. The shadows are very pigmented. There is some fallout in the pain but not on your eyes. Some darker shades are hard to blend. But not that bad. Most of the colors are soft and buttery. I have enjoyed playing with pallet. I would recommend it to anyone who loves bold and bright shadows. I would definitely buy this again. I got a few for my daughters for Christmas.
