I wanted to love this, and have read others’ reviews. However, I have 58yr old crepey deep set eyes and this shadow stick feels like a heavy coating of plasticine and makes my eyes feel sticky and tired. Like the shade though, have sand dune and soft peach.

Really enjoying this. I’m not much of an eyeshadow person, I have slightly hooded lids that are becoming more pronounced now, at 40. I get a bit of wrinkling and crêpey texture around the crease/hood, and I have oily lids. I like matte, neutral eyeshadows that mostly just do some very basic contouring in the eye area, creating a bit more depth, and especially long-lasting cream formulas, because it’s just so easy. MAC Paint Pots are lovely, too, I have and love Groundwork and Soft Ochre. Full evening make-up generally just means that I take more time doing a deeper version of the same simple look, put on false lashes and a bright lipstick. I usually can’t even be bothered with any sort of eyeshadow for work, although I rather want to do at least a simple wash of something.
That’s where these shadow sticks come in. I get up early, I’m not a morning person, make-up in the morning before work does not get to take any more than ten minutes, at most. Preferably five. If I can get away without using brushes, I’m happy. So I’ve been leaning into cream products that I can blend with my fingers more and more, and this is such a good product for that. I can just apply a swipe or two on my eyelids and blend with my fingers, no brushes needed, and it’s less messy and imprecise than dipping fingers in paint pots. Also, they weigh much less than the glass pots that MAC paint pots and Bobbi Brown’s potted cream shadows come in, and they’re less bulky, so they’re great for travel.
Lasting power is excellent on my lids, I don’t really notice any creasing, which I’m prone too even with lid primers. Less so than with MAC Groundwork, which is another favourite wash-of-colour shade. Nude Beach is a creamy matte pink-toned beige, slightly darker than my (MAC C1) lids, but not much. It’s about the same depth as Groundwork, but has a completely different tone, see swatch photo above. It’s nice as a wash, just to look a bit more polished, and great as a base or light transition sort of shade too. I also have Taupe, a slightly darker and a much more yellow-based sort of beige/light brown, and Bark, a neutral dark brown, leaning towards cool-toned. All three are lovely, matte neutrals that blend and last well on the eyelid.
The Long Wear Cream Shadow Sticks are expensive, significantly more expensive for the amount of product you get than the pots, both Bobbi Brown and MAC. To me, it’s worth it. It’s just such a great, lazy product. I get more use out of them than the pots, as much as I love them too, because of the sheer ease of application. I’m tempted to look into the shimmer shades, too. If portability and being able to apply them very fast without using brushes aren’t as important to you the pots are probably a much better value, though.

I love this! Color is perfect – by day it provides contrast for my heavy eye lid, making it recede, in darker lighter it is actually darker, and it lasts and lasts. It’s there the next morning if I don’t scrupulously wash the eye area. Love.

Formula: I love the formula of these sticks. I have the BB cream shadow that comes in a pot as well in the shade ‘Stone’, Laura Mercier caviar stick in ‘Copper’ and MAC paint pot in ‘Vintage Selection’. Among these I love the formula of the BB sticks best. It’s creamy and blends easily with fingers. Pigmentation us also top notch in line with LM and MAC paint pot. BB cream shadow in pot is a very sheer formula in comparison with the stick. LM wear time is 3-4 hrs on my lids. MAC paint pot is 6-8 hrs. Bobbi Brown cream shadow stick wears for 8-10 hours as good as applied. It also remains on the lid if I sleep with makeup on. After blending with fingers the finish is seamless but still opaque. Feels like nothing on the skin. No tacky dried feeling that comes with some cream shadows after they’ve dried down. No creasing.
Color:
I already have taupe which is a brown caramel color slightly darker than my lids. I’m nc41 in the MAC studio fix powder foundation and have pigmented lids. I expected nude beach to be a tad lighter than taupe but in the same color family based on swatches in the Internet. I also swatched it in store. It appeared a milky pinkish taupe. But fortunately for me it looks neutral/my lids but better on my lids with only a slight hint of pink/mauve barely noticeable. On lighter skin tones, it appears more brown based on Internet swatches. It is more pink than the cream shadow (pot) in ‘stone’ and lighter. Taupe is clearly a caramel brown in comparison and way warmer than Nude Beach. Nude beach is perfect for me to cover and neutralize pigmented lids or for minimal makeup days. Be wary of the mauve undertones if your skin has a tendency to play up such tones. On someone with deeper skin tone than me, I fear it may appear a little ashy. So please consider this before you buy.

I like a lot of Bobbi Brown products, including this one, but I won’t re-purchase because it’s too similar to MAC’s Laying Low paint pot. The paint pot is cheaper and there’s more product in the jar.
Bobbi Brown’s long wear cream shadow stick is definitely long wearing and the texture also feels similar to MAC’s paint pots. (no surprise as both companies are both owned by Estee Lauder)
Nude Beach is a bit darker than Layin’ Low and it would make an excellent base as well.
It’s perfect for a ‘no makeup’ look, especially for NC30 and darker skin tones.
Bobbi Brown’s website describes as it as greyish taupe with a hint of shimmer. I agree with the colour description but I definitely don’t see any shimmer at all. It looks very matte to me.
