I own lidstar in lily and cub and I absolutely love them. They give your eyelids a nice shimmer and stays on really well. Lidstar is very subtle and sheer, it is not intensely pigmented. I love the subtle makeup look, and lidstar is great for an everyday look. I gave the product four stars instead of five because it takes a bit of time to adjust to using liquid eyeshadow.I am a really big fan of this product and I would definitely purchase it again; it is my favorite eyeshadow product.

I got myself Slip & Lilly which are both beautiful shades in the advertisements. However they didn’t turn out as I hoped.
I’m not sure how the rest of the shades are in the range but these 2 are absolutely terrible and not worth the price.
Here’s my pro/cons list of my experience:
**PROS:
– Aesthetically pleasing packaging
– Colour is the same as advertised, beautiful shades.
**CONS:
– EXTREMELY PATCHY when blended out, Seriously how did this pass quality tests?
– There is NO wash of colour effect…pigment is NON-EXISTENT
– Impossible to build up or layer: It gets even more patchy & starts to crust
– Very pricey for the effect
– Not long lasting at all
Overall the 2/5 is because the packaging and presentation is beautiful. I mean that’s the whole reason I fell into the hype. Otherwise I don’t think this product is worth the price. Rather buy dupes that are not only CHEAPER but BETTER.

As you probably know if you are reading this, Glossier products are for a ‘no-makeup makeup’ look, so expecting bold pigment and saturated color will only lead to disappointment. I’m over 40, but lately I’ve been heading towards a minimalist makeup approach and application, so even though I am not Glossier’s target demographic, the line appeals to me. In my third order, I picked up Lidstar in Cub, which seems to be the most popular color. I have many other ‘one and done’ cream eyeshadows, and I like them for the simplicity and instant payoff they provide. Lidstar is no different, but this is Glossier’s version of a cream shadow, so expect sheerness and soft color. Cub is a rosy bronze shade. It was easy to apply using the doefoot applicator, and I softened the edges a bit with a rounded blender brush. It hasn’t creased in the 7 1/2 hours I have had it on, but it maybe has faded just a touch. If I had eyeshadow with me right now, I might be inclined to pop some on top of Cub to freshen it up, but it’s not bad right now as it is. The color is still there and hasn’t settled into the creases of my hooded lids. Overall, this is a nice product for what it is. If I ever get to that level of minimalism, this could be all I would wear. Ah, goals.

I was hesitant to buy this but I really liked the idea of the product and some of the colors so I decided to try it out. I ended up buying the color cub. It took a little work getting the right application, but I really like the overall look of the product. It isn’t meant to be highly pigmented, just a sheer wash of color. When I first tried it, I used too much product and it creased a bit and looked patchy. The trick is just to do a very small amount and pat lightly into place with the fingers, similar to the product video on Facebook.

When I first opened the tube, I was struck how cheap the packaging feels. I’ve never felt the plastic container for make up needed to be thicker or of a higher quality until I used Lidstar, but I’m afraid I’ll break the tube (e.g., crack it by tightening it when I close it, disconnect the wand from the lid, crack the tube by dropping it, etc.) every time I use it. That being said, the actual Lidstar product works great for me. I have it in the Fawn color, which is a neutral-cool purplish taupe. I apply it to my lids and sheer it out with my finger to above my crease (I have hooded lids, so that’s the only way it would show). I don’t use a primer, and it doesn’t crease on me, even after 12+ hours. That says a lot because powder shades crease on me after a few hours with primer due to my hooded lids. Lidstar might crease if I wore more than a sheer layer; I can’t say. I plan to buy other colors because I’ve been so impressed with this product. Overall, it gives a great sheer, natural look that’s in line with Glossier’s natural-but-better look.
ETA: I did go back and buy the rest of the colors except Moon (because I could tell that one just wouldn’t work on my NW10 skin). So far, I’ve only used Slip and Cub, but here’s my take. The formula of both is just as good as Fawn. I think the trick is to use just a little bit on the lid and then sheer out above the lid. I experience no creasing or flaking, and the product lasts 12+, though there is a bit of fading toward the end of the day. Slip is a baby pink. I won’t repurchase just because it barely shows up on me because I’m so pale. It would look lovely on darker skin tones that are cool toned. Cub is more of a bronze than the rose gold that is described as on the website. It’s okay but would be better for warm-toned people.

I bought cub and fawn because I heard that these had the best consistency compared to the other lid. Fawn looked grayer than I would have liked because I was expecting a taupe, and it was patchy. Cub also looked really pretty, but I had issues blending it out because it would also get patchy and layering these just made them crusty looking. I never get patchiness with eyeshadows, and these were the first ones. I’m disappointed with these because they’re pretty pricey for what they are.

love, love, love my lidstar. i only have one shade, cub (the warm rose-gold shade), but i plan to take advantage of the “pick two and save” deal on the website when i need to repurchase and grab a new shade to play with.
i turn to this product as my go-to for almost any situation – in a hurry, going out, going to work, you name it. i put one swipe of product straight onto each eyelid from the applicator, pat it around a bit with my finger, take a second to smooth out the edges if needed, then i’m good. this creates a more soft-focus effect for me, whereas doing the same with a brush will give the color a little more oomph. i’d describe the end result of either method as being like a pretty, subtle filter over your eyelids – romantic, glowy, soft, subtle and yet, to me, it makes a big impact on my overall look for the day. it’s not glittery or opaque, just soft focus and filter-ish, a glowy tint. i usually pair that with a soft, dewy highlight on my browbone and inner corner, sometimes a little diffused deep brown or deep berry-toned eyeshadow along my lashline for some definition, mascara, then i’m done.
i’ve only experienced minimal creasing in dire circumstances (i work in a non-climate controlled environment so i’m usually sweating to some degree for all 8 hours of my work day during the summer, and only particularly hot and humid days yield creasing – i don’t prime or set this with anything, by the way). i think others have experienced poor wear throughout the day with this stuff, but my oily-eyelids-having experience is that it stays where you put it and doesn’t migrate or get weird, so your mileage may vary. at the end of the day removal is easy-peasy. my only hang-up is the price – as wonderful as i think this stuff is, it’s steep. my tube has lasted me about 5 months so far with regular use and doesn’t seem to be winding down yet, but i’ll stress that i use only one or two dips into the product each day that i use it. as far as packaging goes, i find it cute and extremely easy to travel with – the test tube shape doesn’t take up very much space in a little makeup bag.
overall, i love it and will happily repurchase when my current tube is all gone. for anyone who would like to try a product like this but doesn’t like the price, i haven’t tried it but i’ve heard the NYX holographic halo eye tint specifically named as a dupe for this, maybe with a little more oomph to it but a very similar vibe. unfortunately those products are limited edition i think, but i’m sure there are more dupes out there.

I ordered Fawn and Herb, and have been wearing one or the other pretty much regularly for the past months or so. Of the two, Fawn is easier to work with. Herb is a beautiful green/gold/brown that is amazing with my hazel eyes, but does take some work to blend. Fawn is something I can put on in a huge rush and not have to worry too much about – like flattering lipbalm but for your lids. They both stay PUT on my eyelids – really surprising for a wet application product. In fact, I am sort of concerned that their powerful cling might actually dry out my eyelids over time. But for now I am all in! I will most likely re-order. I am also looking forward to purchasing Moon in my next order.

Glossier can be a hit or miss, so I really did not know what to expect from their newest cream shadows at first. I bought two shades based on online recommendations (Fawn, Cub) and frankly these are the only two colours I am willing to wear on a daily basis now.
Why? They’re easy. Don’t get me wrong, I love a full on glam situation, however, these shadows are perfect for an everyday wear. They are long-lasting, don’t crease and give a very nice glow. Not glitter, not shimmer -pearlescent glow. They don’t require a primer either. If you don’t like to fuss much with your eye makeup, just pop a flattering light-reflective shadow, add some mascara and run out the door, these are brilliant for that.
I have unedited swatches plus more application tips and a makeup look in a separate review here for those of you curious about the new range ( hope it helps! At this point I am happy with both colours that I have, I don’t feel like getting all six, two is a good number.

So as a disclaimer, I kind of got these for free. I had bought a new Skin Tint and then Glossier changed their formula and issued me a credit. I can’t use the new formula because of the new ingredients so I got 2 Lidstars instead. I got Fawn, the taupe-y purple and Herb the greenish gold. Out of the two, Fawn performs better. its smoother, easier to blend and looks more even. Herb is a little more patchy and harder to work with.
The good: The colors themselves are flattering. I have a few lines forming on the lids and these don’t make them look worse. I love the doe foot applicator packaging and the swipe and blend with your finger concept is true for the most part. You can just throw this in your bag.
The bad: They need a primer or they crease and don’t last. This isn’t a deal breaker for me but might be for people looking for as much ease as posssible. Herb is has issues with patchiness, but again its not terrible. Neither are very pigmented but I think that’s intentional. And they while they are fine alone, on me they look best in a regular eyeshadow look with a matte transition and a medium or dark crease color, which kind of defeats the purpose, as I can just use a satin or shimmer on the lid and get the same effect.
I wish there was a maybe option on the buy again. They are expensive for what they are but I really do like them but maybe not enough to buy again, though I’m planning on trying the shade Cub. So because of that I’ll put yes.
