This is one of the few quads I own, as I was able to buy it at a discount. The shades in the quad are beautiful and are flattering for many different complexions. My only complaint with the colors is that the highlighting and base shades are too similar for the intended contouring effect. That aside, the shadows are soft and easy to apply and blend. There is quite a bit of kick up when picking up the eyeshadow. The shadows are very long lasting and last even longer with primer. I would consider repurchasing this quad.

I couldn’t believe the mixed reviews this has received as for me, a long time warm shade devotee, this is now my ultimate HG eyeshadow palette for everyday.
As a former high end designer employee now working in a professional office environment I want a palette that provides a professional but still striking look that lasts all day; this tiny palette does just that!
Firstly, I love the packaging. It’s extremely secure and strong enough to survive many falls; not to mention the perfect size for traveling. The eyeshadows themselves are perfectly sized with the base colour being larger than the others.
Overall I find the colours are extremely pigmented and perfect for a warm toned but neutral everyday look (something that can be very hard to find as most warm “burnt” tones are too intense for the office).
The base shade does run very neutral on my NC35 skin and I initially had reservations about it and wondered if such a soft pink was suitable or I needed a more warm/taupe and pigmented base like I would normally use.
However, I soon realised that when used with the other colours it provides a subtle contrast without being overpowering. I now bow to Kats’ superior colour spectum and shade and light knowledge!!
The burnt orange shade is quite simply perfect and undeniably the star of the show!! It is the perfect mix of burnt orange and brown and has a beautiful warm depth without being too intense for everyday and blends seamlessly.
The brown is again darker than I would usually choose for the day; but (again!) I was proven wrong! It is the perfect contrast to the burnt orange shade and provides definition without being overpowering. As with the burnt orange it blends seamlessly.
The highlight shade is a nice addition to the palette. The shade perfectly compliments the others in the palette and provides a nice subtle highlight.
As mentioned by others the shadows themselves are very powdery and there is undeniably a lot of kick up when using them. However, the exceptional colour payoff and easy blendability more than makes up for this. In my experience kick up can be greatly reduced by using an extremely light hand.
This palette has become my everyday HG for the ease with which it allows me to create a soft, warm eyeshadow look. The extremely blendable colours mean I can create a striking look in minutes with minimum effort that lasts all day. My biggest fear is this being discontinued!!

These quads are popping up at Tj Maxx stores. I was excited to find them but unfortunately their powdery, patchy, hard to blend CRAP!!

The Rust quad has essentially two highlight shades. The base is too light to use as a crease/transition and the highlight has flecks of glitter and poor opacity. Both are too powdery. The burnt orange contour and dark brown define are the hits with super pigmentation, but that makes this quad a duo.
Do I think this quad is worth $22.00? No, because I got the same look with equal wear time using the e.l.f. Mad for Matte/Summer Breeze palette which is $10.00 for ten shadows.

I know that a lot of people have mixed feelings on these quads, but I really love Rust. I am a big, big fan of orange and very warm brown shadows, and this kit has everything required to do a quick, every day warm brown look or a simple brown/orange smokey eye. The shadows are very powdery and there is a lot of kickback, but I don’t really mind that very much. The base shade is actually my favorite, it neutralizes my lid color really well and leaves a nice surface to blend the darker colors into. Like all KVD shadows, these blend like a dream and they wear well on me over primer. I think the outer packaging is super cute, but it is pretty annoying that the mirror only opens half way. I recommend this if you’re a fan of warm shadows and the large Shade & Light palette is too neutral for you.

Such sadness here. I had high hopes and was disappointed. Blending these shades, specifically the orange one, made them disappear. Kept having to blend, then reapply. So much kick up on the shadows yikes. Won’t buy her eyeshadows ever again. Back to saving for Viseart or Inglot shades

I really had high hopes for this palette and truth be told, it kind of has been a let-down for me. I have and love the KVD Shade & Light eyeshadow (12-pan) palette, so I debated getting this one. But that rust colored shade really pulled me in. It just seemed like it would be more pigmented than the burnt orange shade that is in the 12-pan palette.
First off, these end up being much less pigmented in my opinion/experience than the 12-pan palette. These, like the 12-pan palette, all blend seamlessly and pretty effortlessly, truly these are like butter, they just glide right on. However, unlike the 12-pan palette, these do not last on me at all. Within a couple of hours, these shades all fade to nothing on me, even the darkest/deep brown shade. Not sure what is up with that. I initially tested this without a primer (as I did with the KVD 12-pan Shade and Light eye contour palette, and as I do when initially testing any eyeshadow product), and also with several primers on different days, and even tried applying these with several different brushes/applicators. These just, for whatever reason, have very little pigment for me to start with (which can be fine, very much a ‘natural look’/no makeup type of look), but being these do not last for me but a couple hours (if lucky), I just am disappointed in these.
While I love how well these glide on and blend with pretty much no effort, and the shades are flattering and very natural, I just don’t appreciate how these just do not last for me.
Now, price-wise. If talking about prices bothers you, click out or stop reading. This quad currently retails for $26.00USD, for 4 shades. That equals out to $6.50USD, so not terribly priced (if you especially love this quad, that might not bad at all price-wise). That said, the 12-pan palette currently retails for $46.00USD, which works out to be roughly $3.80/per shade, so definitely more bang for your buck with the 12-pan palette….However, for me, the warm quad in the KVD 12 pan palette is pretty similar, and once on the eyes, I can’t really see much of a difference, much less others being able to tell a difference. So…..I would say if you are debating this palette and love natural shades, I would suggest just getting the 12-pan palette, especially if you do not already have a neutral palette. You get more bang for your buck and in my opinion, for whatever reason, the shades in the 12-pan palette are just more pigmented and last far longer for me. However, if you like very natural looks, super-easy blending, and you prefer/want a warm palette or quad, this might be right up your alley!!
I will say these shades, like the 12-pan palette, do not crease on me at all and they make my crepey eyelids look smoother, so bonus points for that. And, like the 12-pan palette, I get literally “0” fallout or dust with these shades.
But due to the terribly short-lived performance for me this rounds out to being something that does not knock my socks off. I get way more use out of the Kat Von D 12-pan palette and I realize yes hello, more shades, but even in looking at the ‘warm quad’ in the 12-pan palette versus the performance of this ‘Rust’ quad, the shades in the 12-pan palette just perform far better for me. If I merely wanted a warm quad with ease in blending, this would be nice, but again, the lasting power is not there for me. If you have the KVD 12-pan palette, you probably do not need this quad.
And, oh yes, one final trivial note..: the case on this quad also feels like a very cheap plastic, like it might break/crack easily if you are not careful. I would not travel with this palette for that reason.

I love the packaging first off. Some did say they were too bulky, but I like it. They won’t break as easily. They’re crazy pigmented and blend able. BUT. Way too soft. Waaaaaayyyy too soft. I touched one and my finger imprinted in it.

I already had the Lorac Pro, Tartlette Matte and Coastal Scents palettes and pretty much all my other eyeshadows are singles to make my own palettes. I heard so many great things about the Kat Von D eyeshadows, in particular the Shade + Light matte palette but I didn’t want to purchase that since the colors look a bit similar to what I already owed. Then I found this “rust” quad and I had to get it.
In one word…WOW! The shadow is nicely pigmented and goes on like nothing else I’ve tried! The colors are so easy to wear and I especially love the rust shade in this one. The shadows are so smooth, especially the two lightest shades which are extremely buttery! I find these so easy to apply and blend! They are great colors for anytime, and since I’m an older gal I don’t wear very many shimmery eyeshadows. The lightest beige shade seems to have a light touch of shimmer but not very noticeable at all. This is the first quad that I would actually use ALL four colors. The container itself is a bit bulkier than most quads but it’s still handier than carrying around a 12+ color palette on trips.
Word to the wise, avoid buying these from ebay or Amazon because there are so many people selling fakes on those sites. Believe me I know from experience!
Overall I’m very happy with this one!
