I have this in shade 120 for green eyes. I have blue-green eyes, but think this trio would work well with most lighter coloured eyes. The trio consists of cool tones of light silver (the base), charcoal (crease), and a very gorgeous mauvey-purple (brow bone). At first glance, I didn’t think these colours would look good on me, but all three shades together look beautiful and surprisingly natural.

I have the hazel eyes palette, which has a gold for the lid, a dark brown for the crease and a shimmery nude for the brow. I accidentally left my make up at home on vacation and needed something simple that could be worn the entire week. I would have gone for the green eyes one but it was out of stock.
The first thing I noticed was, as usual, the applicator that comes with it is a cheap sponge tip. Luckily I did have a set of brushes with me. The color payout isn’t the best on the other two but the gold shadow works great. Wetting the brush helps, and this stuff does blend really easily.
With a good primer it has decent staying power, so overall not bad for the price.

I wasn’t sure where else to put this review because I’ve purchased many of these over the years in many different colors. This one, specifically, is for the NEW packaged Almay intense i-colors. They have a circular, dark gray packaging and a foam applicator (just one) on a roundish stick.
Specifically, I purchased the “party” colors…for browns, which is a range of purples. Even though I have green eyes and this is for brown, purple shadows always look good on green eyes.
First off…the packaging looks better than the old ones–the ones in the white tray with the clear cover. But the applicator is round to fit in the compact and somewhat odd to work with. Very awkward.
I can’t speak for other sets–I’ve owned many of the previously packaged ones and they’ve been okay. Hit or miss. Some of them look fantastic. Other ones–not so much. This particular one was HORRIBLE.
For starters, the purple isn’t very pigmented. It’s matte which is okay but as I said, not pigmented. I put the medium orchid-y purple on my lid, put the maroon-y purple in my crease and the light lilac on my browbone. You could hardly see the lilac though as it’s a highlighter, that’s sort of to be expected. SORT OF. But the finished effect looked like I’d gotten punched in the eye. It’s not a bright purple. It’s not about it being the wrong color…after applying more hoping for better pigment–the black eye effect just looked worse. I cringed and reluctantly did the other eye–maybe I screwed up. Even my kids looked at me and said “Wow, you look like you got into a fight–and lost!” I tried putting eyeliner on after–sometimes it helps flatter but, it didn’t do any favors. The pigment in this one is just bad.
Had there been more pigment I think this punched-eye effect could have been avoided. I use lots of purple eyeshadow (it’s my favorite color, lol) and when pigmented correctly they are very flattering. You can TELL it’s purple. Without enough pigment, or any shimmer…it’s just light enough (which is generally the purpose of this Almay collection…to appear more neutral and foolproof….) to add subtle color. Unfortunately subtle purple looks like a black eye that’s been healing for a few days.
Almay has always had a problem with pigmentation in their shadows. Probably how they stay hypoallergenic, I don’t know. Just, buyer beware…maybe you can find a way to make this one work, but after attempting about 5 times I just gave up and put it in my junk makeup drawer (you know, the stuff you bought with high hopes and it didn’t live up to the expectation so you shove it away for now because you just bought it and it’s too soon to throw out?). Perhaps someone will come up with a technique to get this to work. I however have not.

These are great eyeshadows. I LOVE neutral shades! I have the Naked Palettes, the Neutral and Natural Palettes and Chocolate palettes from Too Faced. If it’s neutral, I’ll buy it. That being said I love the “Everyday Neutral” three color palettes in this line. I picked up my first one, “for Blue Eyes” and soon it became my everyday “go to” palette for work. I love that they organize the shadows into how they should be applied to the eyelid. Highlighter at the top, crease in the middle, and lid at the bottom and in the right amount of shadow for each area! I have already purchased another one because I actually “hit pan” on this. I rarely hit pan on anything, so if I do, I KNOW I like it.
The Blue Eyes palette consists of a soft beige highlight, a deep brown crease color and a light cocoa brown shade for the lid. I also bought the one for green eyes because I have a bit of green in my blue eyes, and it consists of a pale grey highlight, a deep grey crease color and a pretty mid range purple lid color.
The concept of these shadows is that each palette is created to compliment a particular eye color, they have an Every Day Neutral, a Party Brights and Evening Smokey eye Palette to compliment each eye color. So you just have to look for your eye color and then pick the palette you want. That said, I prefer the Neutrals, but I am sure there are those who would love the more intense palettes.
These have good pigmentation, apply smoothly and last all day long over a good quality primer (I use Urban Decay Primer Potion). The packaging is a little awkward as it isn’t completey round, but they are slim and don’t take up a ton of room. As usual, the applicator is pretty much useless, so invest in some decent eyeshadow brushes.
These run approximately $6-8 depending on where you purchase them.
