I bought this to contour but it really didn’t work for it. Maybe it’s cause of my skintone, but this looked suuuper muddy on my face. It was okay as an eyeshadow but very meh. Not bad, not great.

Its the third time I buy it. I use it for contouring and eye shadow. It stays all day.

Can I just say that essence is THE best cheap eyeshadow I have ever bought. It is cheaper than Rimmel or Maybelline but so much better at blending and the shades are way more subtle. Unfortunately, I can’t get it in my country but when I travel I try to stock up or get people to send it to me. I have been on the lookout for an individual nude eyeshadow that would be good for grey eyes and wouldn’t overshadow (ha) my natural colour by being too bright, and the range of taupes and nudes they have is magnificent. Highly recommend particularly for lighter coloured eyes.

if you are a regular user of Makeupalley then you can’t help but being aware that there are some hidden gems from Essence every now and then. For that reason I often stop by to check new products out. Since neutral eyeshadows is what I favor for eye makeup this pretty shade caught my eye.
It’s a cool toned taupe with the slightest satin finish and feels buttery to the touch. You get 1.8gr of product for about 3 euros. The packaging is quite plain, looks flimsy and is housed as baked eyeshadow on a ceramic base glued on the plastic. Can be easily depoted without heat just by sticking a pointy metal underneath and pulling up gently but firmly.
The downside is that as an eyeshadow it’s not pigmented enough for my liking; as a subtle daytime crease shade or as a wash of color it works good enough but don’t expect to achieve dramatic looks.
What works wonderfully for me is as… A COUNTOUR SHADE! Yes you heard me, it looks completely harmonious on fair skin. The shade is cool enough not to look muddy and mimics perfectly natural shadows. Soft medium pigmentation is a big pro here as it makes application foolproof. The satin finish isn’t noticeable on the face as it’s so subtle even when swatching. It just doesn’t look full on matte but more like healthy skin, also hasn’t broken me out. Longevity is rather good if you apply a proper base underneath so it has a layer to stick to.
Overall as an eyehadow My Favourite Tauping doesn’t really cut it unless if you are into subtle looks but if you are fair and look for a cool toned contouring powder check this out. I sure know that I’ll get backups next time.
