The Lemon Drizzle palette contains everything for a complete eye look; matte crease and transition shades, satiny shimmers and two softer base & highlight shades; Afternoon Tea (caramel matte), Just A Bite (metallic copper), Sugar (écru matte), Scrumptious (mauve brown matte), Butter (banana yellow matte), Baked (brick orange metallic), Slice Of Cake (warm brown matte), Lemon Slice (bright warm yellow matte), Citrus (bright coral pink matte), Fluffy (sheer warm gold metallic), Tempting (muted orange matte), Delicious (deep plum pink with a metallic purple shift), Sunshine (salmon matte), Zestful (warm brown metallic), Tangy (bright yellow metallic), Zingy (metallic taupe), Sharp But Sweet (matte creme) and Nothing But Crumbs (warm gold metallic).
I dislike doing a three-shadow-or-more look when all of the shadows have the same finish to them, but sometimes when I’m feeling lazy or in a rush, I don’t want to dig out more then one palette when getting ready – that’s not a issue here. I also really like that most of the shades are a brighter version of ‘everyday’ neutral shades, with a couple of intense ‘fun’ shades [coral & magenta] for dressing things up. I think that this shade combination makes this a palette that can be used every day for work, casual-time, dates and evening/special occasion looks. Quality wise, the pigmentation of the shadows is very good for the price: a lot less powdery compared to the earlier Chocolate palettes. I can’t single out any shades for under-performing – sure, the darker shades take a bit of building up, but that’s to be expected from shadows in this kind of price range. Even without a primer the shadows will wear for most of the day without creasing. The shadows smell like lemony chocolate, so if you dislike scented cosmetic products, then you may want to skip this.
This palette is a fantastic quality and amazing price, but sadly I’ve had to click no for re-buy – I first thought that the Lemon Drizzle palette was an original idea from the brand, but Natasha Denona is now sold in the UK, so I can now see that this is a dupe of her Sunset palette. Lately I’ve become more aware of how disrespectful it is to basically copy another brand’s concept and colour-story – it’s the same thing as you working on a work/school project for months, then someone else coming along at the last minute, copying what you’ve put tons of effort into and basking in the credit for it. I❤️ Revolution/Revolution has really nice eyeshadow formulas and their original palettes have interesting concepts and colour stories, so it’s a real shame that they are prone to mimicking other brands quite a bit, as they really don’t need to.
Okay, I’m off my soap box now; I think the quality for this palette and colour-story are both excellent, so if the fact that this is mimicking another palette doesn’t bother you, then Lemon Drizzle is a fantastic buy if you want a sunrise/sunset themed eyeshadow palette – there’s over an £100 price difference between this and Natasha Denona, which is shocking. The I ❤️ Revolution Chocolate palette family now has twenty three permanent palettes [some are site exclusives], so there’s bound to be a few for everyone’s tastes and skintone – some are dupes [Ive noticed Too Faced, ABH & Huda Beauty dupes in the line too], but quite a few are original ideas too.
