This is my first Lancome eyeshadow palette and I must say I am not too impressed.
I went to Sephora while I was in Poland as the palette I was after (ST8 Mon Regard Parisien, Fall 2015 LE) never showed up in my local Boots (a central Edinburgh branch at that!) so into Sephora I went.
After a brief discussion with a helpful Sephora consultant, we came to conclusion that this palette is pretty much exactly the same colours that were used in the main collection palette designed by Caroline de Maigret. The other palette was twice as much expensive as it contained a whole array of products apart from eyeshadows and as they had only one – I was not able to swatch any to compare: eyebrow colour set, a base and a cream blush, none of which I would use frankly, as i have lots of other ones that I love – I was only interested in the awesome eyeshadow colours, especially after watching Lisa Eldridge’s tutorial using the palette on Caroline herself.
There are 4.3 g of eyeshadow in the palette, so a pretty meigre amount but it contains a big mirror and some clear instructions of how to use it, plus it snaps shut nicely. So far so good. What is not so good are the shadows – on the eye these look different than in the pan! A major setback imho.
Let’s talk about these eyeshadows. The main big silvery brown on the left hand side of the palette is my biggest disappointment as it looks gorge when swatched! The other big panel with a whitish matte pink is another disappointment as when this one is used as a base, it makes all the browns go very cool, very mauve in tone. According to Lancome it is supposed to be used as a browbone highlight, well, I never use a highlight there (droopy eyelids here we come) so I was trying to find another use for this big chunk of lightly coloured eyeshadow but it does not work well as a inner corner highlight – being completely matte, what was I thinking?! . The middle narrow strip is a very nice rusty brown so hopefully I will be able to use it all over with the darkest and smallest strip of a cool matte dark brown shade that I am putting near the lash line. The move brown in the bottom strip did not warm my hear so it might be the shadow that I’ll use the least form this palette.
Last couple of times I used this palette I had to actually use the tiny brushes to apply the shadows (I am away from my usual brush stash and frankly I do not want to buy new brushes just to be able to use this palette!) and they are well, really bad. I kind of knew that these tiny palette tools are always bad but the narrow, wobbly stick that I am supposed to apply my £38 eyeshadows is a bit of a joke.
At least this palette was bought with a Sephora -20% discount so it was a bit cheaper than when bought in UK so I should not complain as I am not going to use the palette with these tiny, floppy tools while back at home anyway. Nevertheless, maybe Lancome should learn from Bobbi Brown in a ‘small brushes that come with the palette’ department.
Over all, if this palette was not Caroline de Maigret induced purchase and if I was able to have a look at it first earlier and swatch it a couple of times I would not purchase it in the end. But it is too late now, one cannot return products in a Polish Sephora (you lucky American customers!). And we do not have a Sephora in Scotland or these palettes on Lancome counters anyways, so…

I bought the Drama Eyes with lots of shimmer. The colors are beautiful, soft and buttery and so easy to apply! They are flattering, sophisticated and really give me a red carpet look.
The criticisms are: the palette is extremely tiny so you have to use tiny brushes. Also they give you too much black that you never use and only a tiny little pan of the chocolatey taupe which is your main color. I used all the taupe color (Lancome calls it highlighter) within 2 weeks and the other pans are still full.
Overall I would buy again as the look is beautiful and the product A+ but the packaging stinks.

hi, I’m reviewing shade called Brun Ador. It has a nicely pigmented shimmery taupe color. It has 5 shades, including a liner shade which is a matte black. The shade in the middle is a truly creamy, shimmery darker mauvy taupe. The bottom shade is a slightly plummy light taupe. Then on the right side, there’s a highlighter, but it is truly shimmery champagne so no way to use it under the brown bone – in case you don’t wish to create any KimK crazy look 😀 but in general the colors were perfectly picked together and you can create different types of looks (also leaflet included in the box can be quite helpful).
Pros: amazing colors, gorgeous packaging (magnetic, so you don’t have to afraid it opens itself while traveling for example), smooth formula
Cons: as those are shimmery, I would suggest firstly do the eye makeup, take out any fall outs and then go for the rest of face

First time i’m posting a new product on this site! YAY :3
When searching for a pink/warm eyeshadow palette i found this beauty from lancome. Apparently, hypnose palettes come in three types: Doll Eyes (for non-shimmer natural look), Star Eyes (with some shimmer, the one i got) and Drama Eyes (For bolder eye makeup). I didn’t know this when i bought it; i was looking for a non-shimmer palette and got pretty scared as soon as i found out i bought the shimmer one LOL, but fortunately it’s not THAT shimmery 🙂
For the record, i’m reviewing the color ST3, Terre D’ivoire from star eyes line.
Packaging:
The product came in a silver box. Inside the box there was a tutorial card showing how to use the palettes for creating different looks.
The cover of case is shiny black, with Lancome’s logo on the bottom right. It’s not as big as most other palettes, just slightly bigger than lancome’s blushes. It should fit into most make-up bags. On the bottom of the case there are some square shaped holes, don’t know why (maybe they prevent the powder buildup inside brush cavities?)
The cover is magnetic, it doesn’t have a closing mechanism. It doesn’t look like it could open on its own.
On the inside, there’s a big mirror on cover. On the palette there are 5 different eyeshadow slots, keeping the colors separated from each other (which is great- i don’t like when different colors are in the same slot). One tiny problem though, if you are using a big eyeshadow brush, it might be hard to dip the brush into the colors in the middle without touching nearby colors, they come in very thin stripes.
There are two brushes, one is a double sided sponge applicator and the other is a one-sided brush. Brushes are silver with “lancome” writing on them. Sponge applicator’s one side is a fat sponge and the other is a finer tip sponge, possibly for lining the eyes. These brushes are somewhat bigger than most other eyeshadow applicators.
Formula:
Eyeshadows are finely milled and blend quite easily. They don’t feel chalky. All shades have some shimmer except the darkest shade, which is the liner color. Since these shadows are finely milled and feel somewhat creamy, they hardly show up on skin without a primer. Even if they did show up, they’d be gone in minutes. But if you use a primer as a base (i used NARS’s) colors look beautiful and shimmer is not overpowering. Even if you use all 5 colors you still get a subtle look for the daytime.
Colors are very different from each other, they form a gradient starting with beige to salmon and then brownish pink, taupe and finally a muted, very dark purple (almost black). Colors work very well together. They bring warmth to eyes without making eyes look red and irritated (a common problem with warm shades). Unless you use the liner color on your crease, you cannot achieve a “dramatic” look with these shades, it will always look subtle and sophisticated, lady-like. Pigmentation is low on four shades, but liner color is surprisingly very pigmented, you can easily use it to create a somewhat crisp line. I think i’ll find use for all the colors (main reason i chose this color scheme) i can have a salmon-pink eye makeup or i can only use the browns for my everyday neutral look.
As a summary:
Pros:
– This is a luxurious product. Both the case and the colors.
– Colors are separated from each other
– Brushes can actually be used.
– You cannot look like a clown with these colors, even the brightest shade looks sophisticated on skin.
– Stays on a long time with a primer.
Cons:
– Small pans of shadow might be difficult to use with big brushes
– four of the colors look invisible without a primer
– somewhat pricey
– Not for those who like to go bold with eye makeup.
