Pros:
Pigmented
Bottom highlight shade is brilliant
Cons:
Fades within 3 hours esp on oily lids
Buy this if you want to try colours you haven’t before and don’t want invest, but don’t waste your money otherwise.
Edit (12/17): still using this many moons later as I still haven’t bought green eyeshadows. Had to upgrade to 3 stars as I felt 2 was critical but points above still stand.

I purchased this in BR-1 in Japan, and I’m so impressed. So many western ds brands that I have so little interest in (and have never or rarely been impressed) are truly impressive in the Asian formula/products. Revlon, Maybelline, Rimmel (especially Rimmel!! Rimmel’s e/s palettes are constantly ranked in the top 10 or 20 on Japan’s Cosme.net which is huge!!!), sooooooo many things are better in Japan!
These retail for approximately 1400yen in Japan (about $12USD with the current exchange rate?) for 5 shadows – the arrangement reminds me of some US released Rimmel palettes.
The colors for BR-1 are, from top clock wise, dark burgundy/Bordeaux with loose gold shimmer, the V shape is the yellow gold highlighter, then a light peach with medium packed shimmer, bottom is a gold gold glitter pack, and finally my favorite shade, a rich rich orange copper packed with shimmer. This last shade is basically my favorite, and it’s actually got pretty much a fine metallic foil like finish that doesn’t appear overly done and doesn’t make me run screaming like most metallic/foil palettes I’ve tried in the US (even from higher end brands).
I tried this both with and without a primer – the actual color pigmentation did not really vary between w/wo primer which was amazing. When I tried this, one eye I used the WvW Fergie eye primer, the other is just bare, and the end product look identical for the non-glitter shade. The only difference I noticed (and I’m not sure if maybe it’s mainly because I didn’t pat it on my non-primer lid) but the gold glitter shade stuck on better on the eye with primer. Regardless, both sides looked amazing, which really impressed me as generally eye primer are supposed to intensify the colors. I can’t speak for longevity with/without primer however, but it’s already pretty awesome that the intensity is as good as it is.
I am Asian myself and I find that the shades Maybelline (and other western d/s brands) release in Japan are almost always warmer in undertone since they’re made for Japanese skin. This is really good since in general when I’m in the US, it’s the complete opposite, where I can’t really go for d/s makeup because they’re almost always aimed toward a very blue-based white people undertone. For that reason, however, the reverse is probably true where a western person will likely dislike these Maybelline releases here because they’re just so obviously aimed toward the warmer Asian skin.
On me, this palette comes out to be a gorgeous fiery sunset look – I use the right most base shade as all over lid. The pink peach shade is quite subtle and there is shimmer but it’s not so densely packed that if I put this all over lid up to my eyebrow, I’m not going to look insane. Then, using that lovely left copper shade, I put that on the outer V and blend inward on my lid. I also bring this down about 1/3rd to half of my bottom lashline. I take the dark burgundy and using a denser and smaller brush, add more intensity/darkness to the outer v, hugging the lashline kind of like I’m lining my eyes. on the bottom lashline, I bring this in to 1/3rd. I use the v shaped yellow highlighter on the inner corner of my eye and maybe bring it down to my eyebag area for that namida-bukuro look that everyone really like in the recent years (Korean trend), but this kinda varies since I’m not used to highlighting my namida bukuro. At this point it basically look like a really pretty copper orange sunset – and yes, it’s going to pull orange because it’s copper with gold shimmer – that’s going to get you an orangish tone…sunset is yellow, orange, red, yes?
Since not everyone can pull off an orange based look, I think that’s the only negative to this palette – it’s not at all a neutral basic brown palette. Most Japanese brands the BR-1 is generally the most neutral, the most versatile, and the one that most people get because it’s easy to use. In this case, it’s not nearly as neutral – it’s very obviously warm toned and may be a too “colorful” (what they call “color make” for color based makeup as opposed to neutral browns and beiges) for some people.
Now that gold. Let’s talk about that gold. I know most people hate glitter but I honestly had very little problem with it – I use a small dense brush to kinda dab in a little hard to dislodge the color and glitter (it’s packed pretty well and I find that most brushes will not get any off or just a little bit). Then on my lid, I PAT IT ON. not swiping. Patting works the best, and it seemed like it stuck better on the eye with primer than without. Another thing you can try to get a really dense glitter metallic foil eye would be to dab a bit of eye gloss (or even regular clear gloss) on top of your eyeshadow before patting on the gold – it should stick much better. During the period I had this palette on, funnily enough I had zero gold glitter fallout to my glasses. I had fine gold shimmer dusting potentially from the left copper shade or the right base pink/gold shade, but not from the glitter. I didn’t notice dramatic glitter fallout on my face as I was applying anything either (honestly I’ve experienced far worse with even western high end makeup like Dior…).
For a more neutral version, the GD-1 palette might actually be a better choice, as the left shade is a more neutral taupe (it’s gorgeous and I want it bad).
Finally about the sponge tip applicators…they’re not cheap at all!!! I know most of us are trained to throw away the sponge tips but in Japan the sponge tips (called “chips”) are very common used (some people even buy the bulk package from places like Daiso instead of brushes). Even popular JP makeup youtubers use the sponge tip that comes with the palette often. The sponge tip that came with this palette has a nice thick spongy foam that’s not scratchy and I can imagine using for the glitter shade to pack on better. The other side is slimmer to use for liner.

This product is disappointing. I have BR-1 which in the pan, is a variety of peaches, rose golds, gold and soft burgundy, but when on the skin are slight variations of copper orange.
The textures are not consistent. The burgundy colour is chalky and patchy. The lightest golden highlight shade, though beautiful, is powdery with flecks of shimmer. The copper is absolutely stunning when swatched, but when blended out it is orange! The satin peach shade is chalky… And the gold on the bottom is GRITTY. The glitter CHUNKS flake off into your eyes when you try to apply them to your skin. They simply do not adhere.
If you have green eyes, maybe this will work in semi accentuating your eyes, but otherwise don’t torture yourself or waste your money.
Design of the eyeshadow pan means that your brush will have trouble swirling in the pan unevenly.. Why didn’t they make it all the same shape? I HATE trying to highlight with the lightest shade when the pan is a “V” shape.
I have not had any luck Maybelline eyeshadows. Their Colour Tattoos are lovely – that’s about it.
Wouldn’t go near Maybelline eyeshadows again!

I got the brown eyeshadow in Bronze Diamonds. The dark shade is not pigmented enough, and the glitter looks lovely but doesn’t stand out. I only really use this for the warm brown shade on the far left, which is great for blending out the contour shade. I can’t find it anywhere else!

Pigmented, stays on 3-4 hours without primer but can get chalky sometimes. Overall not a bad product!

Use this everything I want a smokey eye makeup, it’s beautiful! Often I just use the white on its own in the inner corner of my eyes and on my waterline as a white eyeliner too:) I love that’s its glittery

I have this product in BR-1. Which is great for daily use. I wear it almost every day but i find it quite powdery and the glitter falls easily. Other than that, It’s okay.

my palette is the one with black, dark brown, peach & white. i find it a cheap & good purchase for daily use. yes i wear it everyday, esp the black, just to line my upper eyelid with. it can take me from glam to wham, whether a glittery night look or a grungy-smokey eyed day look.the the black has a nuance of purplish tint. the browns are quite blah on me. staying power is questionable. but im happy it cost little, for a job it does rather well for simple unfussy days.

Pros:
Really pretty packaging and layout of the shadows
Very pigmented
For something called “hyper diamonds” it delivers! Very sparkly!
Really nice array of colours, not boring at all.
Blendable
Cons:
A bit powdery
Comes with crappy foam applicator
So, so much fallout! Measures need to be taken to keep glitter from getting all over your face.
(I think) Only available in Asia
I’ve decided that Maybelline in Japan is much more awesome than Maybelline at home (In Canada). Even though I love more subtle, neutral/natural eyeshadows, these are so much fun! The colour selection impressed me so much I bought this same palette in 3 colours! I NEVER do that. You definitely need a primer, and probably something like extra translucent powder on the face to catch fallout glitter (to be brushed away later, of course). I also love the small, purse-sized compact that snaps tight, and it’s jewel-like cover. The package is a little on the cheap side, but I don’t think it would break if dropped. It’s sturdy enough that it puts Maybelline packaging from home to shame, but it’s not absolutely amazing either. Overall, great product! Considering getting a fourth colour!

I think this product is only available in Asia as I brought it there, but haven’t seen it anywhere else. I have this in ‘WN-1’ which has a mixture of purple shades. These shadows are pretty shimmery with one colour in particular that has a alot of glitter in it. These on their own don’t show up too well, but with a base or primer, they show their true colours a bit better. I gave it only 2 lippy’s as it was too shimmery for my liking and contained alot of glittery fallout. Would recommend applying this BEFORE your foundation to minimize ruining your makeup.
