TL;DR: not very pigmented. Great shade, perfectly gray-brown without warm tones – very good brow shadow, crease color for contouring (on pale ppl like me). Doesn’t seem to fall out much. Not very long lasting. Creases a lot. Haven’t tried with primers or wet appl.
Ok, since Nyx has quality control issues: mine was purchased in Sweden in November 2018, on the back is printed M08NWW.
It’s a great brow shadow for me (pale/NW13, with relatively dark brows & medium brown/mousy hair). But it’s not a very good eyeshadow – it lacks pigment. I say “not very” good since I’ve only ever owned & used like 4 eyeshadows.
Also, I use eyeshadows almost solely instead of smudgy eyeliner – people looking to “contour” their crease etc might like a somewhat sheerer pigment. I’m trying it now around the eyes as I type and it looks kinda nice for a *very* daytime, soft look.
***EDIT: I was home for the last 2 days and experimented with using this in the crease (and S.O.S. on the lid). Checking in after 8-10 hours, WOOOW that’s creased – it’s rolled into two thin sharp lines. Not sure how eyeshadows usually behave in this regard though. Also notable: today I used vaseline as a base on my left lid only, which definitely kicked up the intensity/coverage (and made the finish creamy/semishiny, obvs), and actually didn’t make any difference to the wear or creasing that I can tell now. I can pat the creased lines back into a fairly blended look, but yeah… watch for that.***
Lastly, I assume this can be kicked up with primers, or using it wet, which I haven’t tried.
On brows I use it with S.O.S., which is a much lighter, perfectly neutral greige shade (seriously: no yellow, peach, pink or violet! At least in this light – bleak daylight by the window).

So disappointed that this particular shade seems to have been discontinued, and it’s a very difficult, almost impossible, shade to find. I used to stock up on the Avon creamy eyeshadow stix in prolonged plum, but when they discontinued the color, I had a lot of extras which held me over for a while. Then I came across this shade (nyx, over the taupe) and it was very close. I’m just as happy with the color. But as it happens a lot, you find “your” special shade, that one that works perfect for you, and they go and discontinue it. Luckily, I found this on e-bay, where a seller had 5 of these, and I purchased all 5 of them. This shade is excellent in the crease area, eyebrows, and a contour for the nose. I also use it along the bottom lashline, and it’s the perfect e/l (I use a darker brown shade to line my top lashline). I just can’t praise this shade enough! Does anyone out there know of a dupe for this shade? (high end or drugstore brand) I really don’t want to be running out of this shade.

perfect eyebrow powder. no nesquick chocolate color. gray brown color that blends nicely if you have dark eyebrows.

I really didn’t have any mattes except the ones in Chocolate Bar and I was getting bored. I picked this up along with Coquette, Damage Control and Skinny Dip. I think it’s really sultry and pretty. It’s almost like Damage control but that one is more like a satin. The new formulation isn’t as good and the packaging is really cheap and breaks easily, but the colors I got are pretty good out of the line. This one is a really nice addition to a matte eye collection for crease or even lid. I can see myself using this for a lot of smokey/neutral eyes. The downside is it’s pretty hard and can be hard to get to apply right. I have a lot of colors and it’s always growing so this is ok but I’d probably use a slightly more high end and buttery one in the future. If you’re on a budget or just want a color for occasional looks it’s decent but I like the other ones I bought more.

LOVE. The perfect mauvey taupe color that I’ve been searching for. Not much to look at in the pan, but do yourself a favor and get it if you see it. I think I paid $4.99 for it at Harmon.

This is what I have been searching for, for the last 2-3 years: a true cool medium taupe color. Or maybe one could call it a true cool medium ash brown: no red or orange to it at all. I have wanted a suitable color for use on my eyebrows, but also for a subtle wash of color or for lining the eyes. I have tried other colors by other brands, and for the most part, there is always a bit of warmth to them that just doesn’t work for me. Believe it or not, the best deep gray-brown cool taupe I ever found is the darkest shade in Physician’s Formula’s Canyon Classics all-matte palette. That is a fabulous eyeliner, and used to work some years ago on my eyebrows, but, um, I’m getting older, and grayer and can’t use that any more.
This is a wonderful shade and wonderful quality. I saw that Ulta greatly expanded the NYX display recently and stumbled upon this color. It was the last one there, so you can see it is popular. There are testers for almost every item, which is outstanding. I played with some of the other items–more shades of the matte lip creams for example–but just had to get this eyeshadow. It is smooth, pigmented, and is as I wrote above: the color I was looking for. So happy!

In the pan this is a mousey mauvey brown. With a light hand it lends itself to the perfect face contour color. I use an ARTDECO bronzer to blend and the effect is very natural. Will use until I find the next best thing!
