I love love love this shade!
However, it’s a little tricky to describe. Ashen is a medium-deep slightly grayish “dirty” taupe, with a smooth fine shimmer. Ashen is, to my eyes, pretty much like a darker version of NYX “Frosted Flakes,” which is lamentably discontinued.
Ashen makes a perfect neutral lid shade on NW15 me.
In the photo above, I’m wearing Ashen all over the lid, with Coastal Scents “Dark Chocolate” on the outer corners, with no other makeup.
Ashen is smooth, nicely pigmented, easily blendable, and it wears tenaciously on my oily skin, with a good primer.
The only possible caveat is that Ashen, like other Coastal Scents Hot Pots, is sold in the pan only. You have to put it into a palette, or, as I personally prefer, one of Coastal Scents’ single shadow “Go Pods,” which are unfortunately often out of stock.
Packaging annoyances aside, Ashen is a real find – cruelty-free, inexpensive, high quality, and a very unique and versatile shade.
I expect to wear this one OFTEN!
