I recently found this in a mix of e/s ive had but haven’t looked at in awhile. It is everything everyone else says it is! A perfectly textured and blended & pigmented antique gold with a tinge of olive. It looks great on my pale olive skin tone, almost blends into my skin color etc lol! Unfortunately, the pan of shadow broke and is now a powdered mess in the container. I’ll have to try to repain it with a bit of alcohol. I’ll be checking to see if anyone ever posts a good dupe of this

UPDAATE (3/23/18): STILL my FAV shadow (along with FEMME FI, also disconninued). I still have 4 left in my stash as I stocked up on them when it was discontinued. I have looked high and low for a DUPE that not only looks the same on my eyelids, but that I’m not allergic too. I just discovered that Coastal Scents Hot Pot Gypsy Gold is a dupe of this. I have bought a few of those and, while NOT MAC, they give the color and texture I am seeking. I save my remaining Henna’s for things that are “worthy”. As with my Femme Fi, when I finally hit pan on my last one, I’ll cry. (And NO, Sumptuous Olive is NOT the same–wears different on my skin/eyelid and pulls green; Henna pulls NO green… only Gold Goodness…. )
Henna was Limited Edition, and is my favorite “steppin’ out” shadow. It’s a gorgeous gold on my lids. Patina is my favorite shadow for day, but Henna is my fav shadow for night. It’s erroneously compared to Sumptious Olive–Henna has NO green on me, whereas Sumptious Olive is VERY green on me. Henna is highly pigmented, applys like a dream, lasts all night/day… and is no longer available. 🙁 Luckily, I bought SEVERAL backups when it was discontinued, so I’m set for the next few decades. Am allergic to most eyeshadows, so I’m blessed to have found my favorite(s) and have backups. [People sometimes say MAC is over-hyped, but, MAC eyeshadows and blushes are a saving grace for those of us that have allergies!!!] This is my HG shadow. [Henna, Patina, and Femme Fi are my HG eyeshadows.] Not affiliated with MAC.

From reading the past reviews, looks like the people who would not buy this again are cool-complexioned folks who really don’t look good in warm colors of gold and green. HOWEVER, if you are warm or neutral, this eyeshadow, if you can get your hands on it, is the most gorgeous color for warm brown, amber, hazel, green and “warm” blue eyes ever! This shadow is stunning on those whose eye color has gold flecks. It is, as others have stated, a gorgeous shade of antiqued gold with some olive green tones. Amazing color and no dupes exist unfortunately–it is nothing like Sumptuous Olive which has much more geen. Of course the lovely Henna was LE so is hard to find, but perhaps there will be a repromote someday. I hope so! In the meantime, if you own this and have cool tones, put it up for swap because it will never work for you….frustrating but just a fact….
Respectfully submitted,

I got this at a CCO and I really thought that I would love this shadow. It came off an antiqued gold on the back of my hand, but it was an olive shade on my lids. The shade is just really unattractive on my eyes. I will not repurchase.

I just received this in a swap and am wondering where it’s been all my makeup life? I love it! It’s golden khaki, easy to blend and lasts well all day (using a primer). I used it with All That Glitters as a brow highlight and Charcoal Brown in the outer V, and Rosemary and Thyme as an eyeliner. Perfect work look! Lovely shimmer all day. Don’t know if this was LE or permanent but I’ll be on the lookout for a backup!

I have been wearing this eyeshadow quite a bit lately as my go inspiration lid colour. I just love the gold-khaki colour with golden shimmer. It’s pigmented and very blendable. Pairs beautifully with other golds, greens, and browns in my collection for either neutral or dramatic looks. One of my favourite combos is Goldmine on the inner 1/3 of my lid, Henna on the outer 2/3 of my lid, Cork in the crease, Wedge as a transition/blending crease colour, Blanc Tye on the brow bone, and Espresso to darken the outer V. I’m a huge fan of green eye shadows and thrilled to have Henna as part of my collection.

I initially resisted the urge to buy Henna when it came out because of all the reviews saying it was a dupe for Sumptuous Olive but then I saw it on SNet and caved in. Now, I have no idea how it could be a dupe of Sumptuous Olive! It’s a georgous antique tarnished gold that matches nearly perfectly with Powersurge eye kohl. Yes there are hints of green in Henna but it’s absolutely not an olive green e/s. It’s way more gold.
For reference, I’m quite pale (NW15) so perhaps this is a colour that shows up better on paler skin?

This is a beautiful Golden Olive color. It IS close to SO in the pan, but like others have said, it isn’t the same when applied. It’s a less green color. I enjoy both shadows with my light brown eyes, but each serves a completely different purpose. I REALLY love Henna as my lid color with Mulch in the crease. I would buy this again.

Beautiful mid-tone golden olive color, its great for a all over wash. Lasts all day and easy to build up the color.

Mink & sable’s/Sumptious Olive’s more goldy cousin. Id say it’s a darkish, antiqued gold, with a greenish, olivey tone. It’s absolutely beautiful! It’s a veluxe pearl so its nice and smooth to apply with a nice but not overbearing amount of frost. this color makes my brown eyes look AMAZING. I already have brown eyes that are considered very light for an asian but multiple people complimented me on how brown my eyes were when I had this color on. I found it at a CCO & I wish i got 2 bc it was LE. It reminds me of an eyeliner that I love by laura mercier called “black gold.” Black gold is darker but definitely the same tone as henna. Both do wonders for my eye color.
