I got this palette when CP was having a sale because I wanted more variety of shimmer shades than what I have in my other palettes, and it’s perfect for that!
I was worried some of the shades would be too dark (a paranoia inspired by about half the 35O shades that are meh brown and unused 2 years after I got the palette and use it daily) but was pleasantly surprised. I don’t think the colours necessarily translate well through pics of the pans. If you’re considering purchasing, definitely look at some swatch pics!
For the colours with chunkier glitter, you’ll need a glue. For the other shades, I just pick the shade up on a flat shader and then mist with setting spray, apply, and then pick up some more on the shader and apply again (without setting spray the 2nd time). If you don’t want to use setting spray or glue with shimmer/glitter eyeshadow, maybe stick to mattes? Lol I don’t mind using a lil something extra to make em pop.
I think the packaging is beautiful, and is a really good bargain for how many pans you get.

Oh I wanted to like this so badly but I can’t lie, it’s awful 🙁 the shadows’ staying power is completely non-existent and the fallout is tremendous, they’ll be all over your face but definitely won’t stay on your eyelid. I’m so disappointed because the colors are gorgeous and the palette was a great deal, but I would advise people against getting this one because it just does not perform well.

Please do not spend your money on this palette. I got mine for free but I still almost felt like sending it back. Not sure if I got a bum palette or what, but most of the eyeshadows in this are just basically colored sparkles and barely pigmented. Using brushes to apply these eyeshadows is almost impossible, I can barely pick up any color at all. I’d say try it with fingers or a sponge and that makes it somewhat easier but still difficult to create a worthwhile look. Some of the darker shades are easier to work with but overall it’s not worth it.
I wish I could find something more positive to say about this palette other than at least my 8 and 9 year old love to play with it! Overall disappointed, DISLIKE!!!!

If you are looking for a sparkly wash of color, this is your palette. I can see why there are mixed reviews for this. It suited me perfectly, so no complaints here, and I would like to try more Colour Pop palettes. This one is definitely a YMMV item

The Colourpop Golden State of Mind Eyeshadow Palette is definitely one of the more affordable palettes at Sephora at $26. This is nice to have a better price range available for products there. This palette is all glitter / shimmer finishes. It is impossible to create a full look from this palette since there are no matte or transition shades. Some of the shades in this palette are severely lacking in pigmentation while there are five or six standout shades that are incredibly beautiful and easy to work with. If you apply this with a brush choose one that has very short, firm, flat bristles. You may find that using a fingertip is easier and will result in much less fallout. One more tip- definitely use a primer. If you don’t the colors will be muddied within an hour or so. My more detailed review with swatches is here: Q
