It is a sheer tone but still, you can add layers of this eyeshadow to make it look an opaque, true purple eyeshadow. It is versatile because of it’s sheerness, you can use it for a slightly purple in your eyes and go to work or build it up and make it a party look. I will definitely repurchase, it’s a beatifull tone.

The darkest blue tone purple (with a pink sheen) that I own. Poor on application, doesn’t translate on the lid the same as in the pan… hard to find a ‘good’ purple colour.

Parfait Amour is the first Mac eyeshadow I bought because I’m a lover of purple. But as the other reviewers have written, it takes so much layering to show up, and when it does it still looks far bluer on skin that it did in the pot.
But then I discovered that if you layer this underneath or on top of Cranberry – WOW! Suddenly it’s completely worth it. It only take a few swipes when you layer it with Cranberry, and you’ll get an amazing rosy violet. I have hazel eyes and nothing makes them look better than when I wear this eyeshadow combo on them.

MAC makes up the bulk of my colour cosmetics. I’ve been a happy customer for years, especially with their eye shadows. I have two 15 pan palettes filled up and I use them constantly.
So, it pains me to admit when one of their shadows just isn’t up to scratch. But Parfait Amour is a bit of a dud.
The worst thing is that the colour is beautiful!! I wanted to love this one so much. It’s a gorgeous rich violet-purple with subtle pink shimmer. Lovely. The texture is also smooth.
The issue is the pigment. This looks like such a vibrant shade but it takes so much layering to get the vibrancy to transfer onto the lid (for reference I use the MAC Paintpot in Soft Ochre or Painterly as my eye shadow base).
The trouble with Parfait Amour is that when layered it becomes muddy and dull. The best way I have found to make it work is to pick up some product on the brush (Mac 237 or a similar dense packing brush) and then spritz with a little Fix+ before applying to the lid. This helps to foil the shadow and bring out the shimmer.
I was tempted to get rid of this shade until I wore it out and my husband commented on how much he loved the purple (it takes a lot for him to comment on my makeup.) So, for now Parfait Amour has been saved, but it’s hard work to make it look good.

This is the worst MAC eye shadow, it has this vivid, bright purple on the pan, but when I apply it, it looks muddy and when I try to build it up, it looks dirty and ugly… a total waste of money

Bright purple.. depends on your taste. I think its hard to work with. Ill stick with more neutral colors next time. However sometimes i use it in my crease or as liner (helps my brown eyes pop).

I have two words for this: INCREDIBLY disappointing.
In the pan, the color is absolutely gorgeous. Really, it is. I’m super pale so I was expecting this to be vibrant and lovely, but unfortunately, it goes on extremely sheer and ends up looking muddy/dirty if I try to build the color. It’s honestly nowhere near the beautiful purple you see in the pan. NO. WHERE. NEAR.
Okay, I’ll say it. In general, I don’t think MAC eyeshadows are particularly stellar, and this isn’t the only one I own. At $15 a pop you’d think the quality would really be amazing, but for me personally, it isn’t. I would NEVER repurchase this (or any other MAC eyeshadow, to be honest). So disappointing.

PA is not the colour it looks to be in the pan. Definitely veers hard towards blue instead of the nice purple-blue it appears to be. It also goes on fairly sheer even if you build it up. Wetting it probably helps, but blues look so awful on me that I’ll probably try to swap it instead.

Its an absolutely gorgeous COLOR ,extremely silky and blendable duochrome.
The color is very buildable and very pigmented .
actually i think it would work with almost every eye color and it works magic on your under waterline.

I really like purple colors, and I bought this thinking it was a really pretty purple! When I got it home and used it along side my UDPP, it looked more blue! Someone even complemented me on how pretty of a blue my eye shadow was 🙁 So from now on, I will swatch MAC colors before I buy!
