I really like Colourpop eyeshadow – I have a bunch of different singles, palettes and Super Shock Shadows. If you are familiar with Colourpop shadows, you will know that the pans are slightly smaller than regular eyeshadow pans, but that’s not only fine with me – I really don’t need bigger pans, as eyeshadow takes forever to use up anyway. As with most other Colourpop palettes, I wish this had a mirror. BTW: the pans are magnetic, so eyeshadows can be taken out of palettes and put into other palettes you have, or just be switched around.
I bought this palette mainly because of 3 things: the duochrome chade in it, it was 30% off, and that it seemed to have some really good transition colors. The idea of the packaging was quite creative too – that it was the second half of the Fame palette.
I do like the quality of the eyeshadows – as with most Colourpop shadows, the texture is soft and powdery, but also very blendable, and the eyeshadow stays on very well. I don’t get fallout from the mattes, and minimal from the metallic shades and the duochrome shade. As with some of the other Colourpop eyeshadows, several of these colors have a tendency to go on more orange than they appear in the pan, which I find unfortunate (no pun intended). There are actually no colors in this palette that I feel I can use as a transition shade, even though I was so sure all of the light brown ones could work. Ben: looks like a peachy light beige, but goes on much darker and orange. Mo Problems: looks like a neutral light brown, but goes on the same orange color as Ben (which is VERY confusing to me). Wiser: looks like a light peachy pink, but darkens to a mid-rose. All of these colors sure can be used in the crease, but I was a bit disappointed in the colors, as they look much different from what I expected. I kinda feel that the colors look so different in the palette, but then whatever I do with them kinda turns out orange anyway. I thought that I would be able to use C.R.E.A.M as a brow hilighlight (I’m about NC25), but it went on too golden for that. Because I can’t rely on the colors being as expected, and because I have to use something else to do my crease, I end up not using this palette as much as I wish.
There are many beautiful shades in this palette, and I’m very sure that a lot of people will like this. Because I love the quality of most of the colors, I won’t give this less than a 4* rating, but to be honest, if I had the choice of buying it again or not, I might not have done it – I would probably have gone with the Fame palette (which was not on sale, and I hear it pulls mauve although it looks taupe). It might be because I have other Colourpop palettes that have some similar colors. People who don’t have a big collection of Colourpop shadows would probably like this quite a lot, I feel. I have both the Give It To Me Straight Palette, Double Entendre Palette and Glass Bull eyeshadow, and feel that these 3 items are enough to recreate the looks I get from Fortune. Anyway: the quality is superb though
My favorite colors:
– Miser: sheer teracotta base with teal shimmer
– C.R.E.A.M: a really smooth light golden metallic – good for inner corner and lid
– Money Trees: a taupe bronze – nice for a brown smoky eye
– Strike It: dark burgundy brown – I often use it as liner
– Racks: a rose gold, which looks really nice for a more romantic look
– Stacks: a silky-smooth metallic bronze
– Trove: very pretty magenta (can be used as crease color, with miser on the lid and cream on the inner corner)
