This is a great dary grey mostly matte black shadow. Liquid and gel eyeliners just don’t work for me, I find them difficult to apply and they seem to flake off and wear unevenly on my oily skin hence the reason I rely on a really good eye shadow. This is a fantastic shadow for lining my eyes. I use Mac’s 212 Brush and can achieve a really dramatic or subtle look depending on what I’m going for. I usually apply the shadow thinly working into my upper eye lashes as close as possible which makes my lashes look thicker and fuller without an obvious eye liner look. i love to tightline with this shadow and brush. This seems to be the best shadow for me in terms of staying power as a liner. I’m also very happy with the new design of the shadows and I much prefer the flip top lid. The price is fine, considering the size of Bobbi Brown’s eyeshadows they really are much bigger than MAC’s and this will last me a long time. I love the design and new palette system introduced by Bobbi Brown. I love these square shadows which can be added to a much slimmer palette than previous offerings from Bobbi Brown, I already own the 3 and 4 palette and have all my favourites housed in one place. I also like that I now have spare square cases from the ones now housed in my palette to replace the cases of any singles where the Bobbi Brown logo has rubbed off (I really hate that). Now my eyeshadow singles that I keep in my make up bag always look new.

Can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this before. I absolutely ♥LOVE♥ this eyeshadow! Charcoal is the most beautiful eyeshadow to use on my eyes as a liner. It is non-irritating, and its richly-pigmented color makes my eye color simply POP! Charcoal is more of a matte black than a deep grey, but I love it no matter what Bobbi calls it. :o)
This powder eyeshadow works better for me than gel or waterproof pencil liners- it lasts all day, and then some! I like using it with a damp, MAC 263 brush. I line my upper lashes first, and then I tightline my bottom lashes with it. When I want my eyes to look spectacular, this is the eyeshadow I reach for. Love it!

Doesn’t look right on me at all. And it smudges really easily since it’s not waterproof. I don’t like it, and wouldn’t buy it again.
