I’m VERY pleased with this. I spent a ridiculous amount of time searching for a matte light taupe eyeshadow, from a cruelty-free company, and kept coming up short. My usual go-tos, like Makeup Geek, Senna, Coastal Scents, Morphe, ColourPop, and Nabla didn’t have the shade I wanted.
The closest I could get seemed to be Buxom Designer or Die, which is described on the Buxom site as simply “matte beige.” I searched the internet in vain for photos and swatches, and finally just took a deep breath and ordered Designer or Die from Ulta.com.
It turned out to be a gamble that paid off – Designer or Die is the great neutral matte lid shade I’d been craving. Is it “matte beige?” Not so much; to my eyes, it’s more of a very very light greige, or maybe a matte light oyster.
At any rate, Designer or Die is perfect on the lid, with a medium-deep taupe, like Makeup Geek Faux Fur, in the creases for the perfect soft matte neutral-to-slightly-cool understated design. In the above photo, Designer or Die is the only eyeshadow I’m wearing[on the upper lids], along with dark brown liner and mascara
Designer or Die is smooth, nicely pigmented, and superbly blendable, with a total absence of the chalkiness often evident in lesser matte shadows. It lasts well on my very oily lids, too, though a primer is a must.
I wish Designer or Die cost a bit less ($12.00 USD for a refill pan; $2.00 for an empty single compact), but I’ll eagerly buy it again, if/when I run out.
