This was my first Julep purchase, but I don’t think it will be my last.
I usually wear only pressed-powder eyeshadow. This time, though, I wanted a cream, stick, or pencil, for a quick, easy, one-and-done shadow application, with no primer necessary on my very oily lids. And I wanted a matte taupe grey. And I wanted cruelty-free.
With all of these specifications, I asked the MUA board for recommendations, and was steered toward this.
It’s ideal! Stone is a beautifully smooth well-pigmented satin-matte warm gray that looks gray, not blue, on me. All I do is dust a thin layer of oil-absorbing powder (my favorite is from Soap & Glory) on my lids, apply Stone lightly, blend with a clean finger, and my eyes are nicely, subtly shadowed, and the look stays fresh and crease-free for hours. My lids do eventually begin to feel a bit “moist,” but not for a long time, and I detect no fading or creasing.
Packaging is first-class – a substantial metal tube whose caps fit securely. One end offers a rounded sponge that can be used for blending instead of your fingers, if you prefer. I find that either works well.
I’ll definitely buy Stone again, and will consider other shades of the Eyeshadow 101 Crème-to-Powder Eyeshadow Stick. I only wish there were more matte shades; there’s a decent selection of neutrals, but they’re mostly shimmery. I wouldn’t mind if these cost a bit less, too(they’re $18.00 each), but for a product this good, I’ll deal.
