I think I must have the same 2 palettes as the previous reviewer, Maddie 0582. I received them (along with a bunch of other Arden products) in an Xmas gift from a friend. I think this was a GWP assortment but I was very glad to receive it as most of the products (with the exception of the brushes and maybe 1 or 2 other things that just weren’t good colours for me).
Both of these shadow palettes are amazing. The colours are just as Maddie 0582 describes them. The more “purple” selection is actually very wearable – not brilliant, over-the-top purples but softer ones paired with greys and cooler flesh tones. But like her, it’s the more neutral (though not exactly “warm”) palette that I use most often. One of the colours (I think it’s called “Copper”) is actually a stunning burnished gold that has attracted positive comments and compliments, even from the SAs at – of all places – Sephora. In a lot of ways, it’s not unlike the UD Naked palette – balanced neutral shades from light to deep, none of them too warm or red toned or orange and all very wearable. This is a great travel or work palette but because of the inclusion of some darker shades, it is very easy to do a deep, intense evening eye look as well.

i have had a few palettes over the years, currently i have two palettes from Holiday Set, one is your typical neutral shades, the other has a variety of purples/pinks/grays. The neutral one I absolutely adore! No, pigmentation won’t blow your mind but they last so well and they are suitable for a daily makeup and even a makeup beginner should be ok using these. I use it quite ofter and because the packaging is slick and sturdy, it was my palette of choice to take on (summer) holiday.
I think the price isn’t too bad and I have had good experiences with EA eyeshadows so I will probably buy again.

and i used to buy top quality avant-garde hand-drawn blending brushes that are definitely worth the price, good quality I’ve had! They work very well! It had to be able to take those timepieces back to ‘the swine days’, starting with jasmine hands which are fast drying and skin big and creamy.
Though i remember you complaining that the ones you had started with were a tad thicker compared to my previous collections of Neutrogena new ranges which were fine, but we all know that the female is much larger than her male counterpart which means they could not hold up to application of chemical when clipping and swishing. So I chose to try the new bandages.
They really did shed a lot of skin which is saying something. I mean, this set has incredible softness and feel to it. However, the color sticks out and stickiness really makes the paint tingle up. I’m not wearing a coat but there’s a small chance that the pigment peel is rubbing off on the skin and some will have to be scrubbed off after that but i’m able to maintain a good looking paint quality throughout the event. When I tried to use it dry on the body.

The brushes are easy to wash and work on and it really does remind me of good old fashioned skincare goodness.
I buy my brushes at a local art gallery and once you’ve tried them out it’s very easy to sit in the shade of your favourite one and point your finger.

This review is for Elizabeth Arden’s BEAUTIFUL COLOR eyeshadow. The Beautiful Color line is amazing. Shades range from very nice neutrals to glamorous which flatter most anyone. EA’s beautiful color eyeshadows are gentle to skin, yet highly pigmented. Easily blends to create whatever look I want. Lasts all day (or night), no touch ups needed!
Pricey, though superior quality. If you can get it in a set with other products as shown in the picture, then your $ was well spent. Elizabeth Arden cosmetics are all very luxurious. Love!

I have bought 5 eyeshadows so far from lightest to darkest: Nude, Rosewood, Almond, Midnight Brown and Mulberry.
* Nude is a neutral metallic platinum. Pretty but I mostly use it on the inner corner and I have too many shadows for this purpose.
* Rosewood is a bit unremarkable, soft taupe with a touch of pink. I like the satin finish though.
* Almond is a medium neutral leaning cool matte tan shade, great as a crease shade or as a lid colour for matte smokey eyes.
* Midnight Brown is my favourite, a buildable warm brown with cool toned sheen. I use it often over Growndwork paintpot for a lived in smokey eye which would be appropriate day and night.
* Mulberry is a satin plum shade which compliments green eyes and the buildable formula allows a lot of flexibility for such a dark looking in the pan shade.
They all have a very distinct aesthetic behind them; hazy but polished. You’re most likely not going to get full pigment or editorial looks with these, the Burberry eyeshadows are mostly made for people who aren’t super experimental with makeup, looking for their everyday staples. Quite hit or miss for me so far but I enjoy the silky soft texture and appreciate the minimalist heavy magnetic packaging. No issues with fading or creasing over TFSI.

I love these eye shadows and will be purchasing more in different colors. I own Rosewood and Tea Rose, I’ve worn them every day for the past couple months. They are exceptionally unique, you can build it up or sheer it out to nothing. I love how much they sheer out in the crease, I can do my eye makeup in 60 second and it looks awesome. If you’re looking for “bold” neutral colors these might not be it. They don’t have a 100% opacity when built up. It’s more of a wash of color, the edges will blend flawlessly giving my eyes a “muddy Burberry look”.
The next shades I am looking to purchase will be Mulberry, Midnight Brown, Antique Rose, and Pale Barley.
The packaging is nice, I love the magnetic containers and even the crappy applicators have “Burberry” inscribed on them, and they would work well enough in a deserted island without brushes situation.
Rosewood is a hard to describe shade, it works well as a one color eye look because it’s so dimensional. It’s cool and warm, has a sheen to it, purpley brown?

Bought Pale Barley and Midnight Brown. The colors are nice, but they are not unique, and creased within three hours on my eyes. The pigment is medium in intensity, which I expected. Unfortunately, the only luxurious quality about Burberry shadows is their softness, which isn’t something I can’t find in other lines, and isn’t all that important to me. Don’t waste your money.

I have tried almost every brand out there– including all of the high end brands. Over the last few years Chanel, YSL, and Dior don’t seem as good as they used to be. So I moved on to other high end brands that were so hard to find, like Le Metier, Cle de Peau, or Rouge Bunny Rouge. Every brand seems to have something that defines it, and with Burberry it seems to be the eye shadows, blush, and lipsticks. I don’t hear as much buzz for their foundation, powder, or eyeliner/mascara, but the glow highlighter is also good. The Burberry woman is classic, but also wants a sensual edge. This is what natural makeup should be, and it’s effortless beauty. The products do more than half the work to complete your makeup looks. They are soft, sheer enough to not deposit too much color, long lasting, and compliment all skin tones. The packaging it comes in (even the boxes) are unique and heavy, very luxurious. Don’t trust the computer generated shades online. Bloggers and Google show the true shades, and call Nordstrom or visit a store that carries the line if you need more help. The only thing I hate is the shipping is so slow. It’s like they put it on a covered wagon to get it from coast to coast! I started off with Midnight Brown and suggest you start out with this one, Rosewood, or Pale Barley. I went for Midnight Brown because it’s beautiful on it’s own with nothing else, but the others need to be paired to create a look. I know these are raved about online and especially on Youtube, but you don’t have to have them. Buy one or two and see if they’re for you. Too often something is raved about for weeks and then they move on to the next big thing.

I pined over these eyeshadows for quite a while before finally making the purchase. I have to purchase the majority of HE brands online, so that means fervent research about swatches, payoff, wear-time, blah blah blah.
So I did all that, made the purchase and as soon as these came in the mail they were swatched on my hand. Immediate let down.
Chalk Fest. Compared to other less expensive brands like Inglot, UD and even MAC, the fall-out/powdery-ness of the Burberry eyeshadows was far worse.
I also was thrown off by the colors since they appeared so different IRL than online:
Pale Barley – I anticipated this to be a lighter version of MAC Patina; however, on my skin it was very pink-toned. Quite sheer (as the name implies), but I packed it on pretty heavily in the morning. By midday, I literally looked as if I hadn’t worn any eyeshadow at all. All you could see was my eyeliner and mascara.
Gold Trench – The name obviously leads you to believe this shade would be somewhat gold. Nope. This was a basic tan color on my lids. So sheer I used it to blend out Pale Barley, without noticeable effects.
Midnight Brown – Ok, so this was going to be the star of the show, or so I thought. It is a mid-toned brown with what appears to be large flecks of glitter whilst in the pan. Swatched and on the lid, this looks so close to Satin Taupe. So, with a darker shade, I didn’t think the wear would be bad, but it was. Creased on me within hours, almost fading away to nothing like pale barley.
needless to say, I was not a fan of these at all. I swapped one and returned the other two.
As always, YMMV, but I just wasn’t pleased at all with these shadows and will not repurchase any Burberry m/u in the future.

I have these shadows in a few shades. I’m NC20-25 with hooded oily lids that must have primer or everything will crease.
Almond: a darker than expected neutral brown. Leans a bit cool but the darkness evens that out. I use it exclusively as my contour colour for almost all eye looks. very versitile as it is matte and creates a nice subtle depth effect.
Taupe Brown: way darker than expected. dark cool brown. i use this for defining my outer V only on all eyeshadow looks. yup, very versitile and matte.
Khaki: I’ve been searching everywhere for this paricular shade of medium to dark green. I use this with all green eyeshadow looks in my contour as it tones down the overall crazy green lid colours i tend to use. the green isn’t ever powering and blends well. also a matte finish. seriously, this could be worked just like almond for a lot of different looks.
Pale Barley: this is a shimmer unlike the others. it will accentuate lid wrinkles and crepiness but it is a beautiful light gold that isn’t super warm toned and has just a touch of lit brown to it. next to almond, this is my most used color.
Rosewood: waaaay darker than i thought. this is a Taupe shimmer with just a HINT of rose. on my lids it looks a little muddy.
Porceline: matte finish, more like chalky skin tone colour on my lids. can barely tell i have anything on. not light enough to be a highlighter, not dark enough to show as lid colour. i will probably just use it as a base.
These shadows have excellent wear time on me with UDPP. the mattes blend with shimmers well so nothing ever looks totally matte once my makeup is done. no fall out on any of these but porceline is a bit chalky. its not super easy/smooth blending for the mattes on UDPP but workable. for less fallout of dark contour colours on my cheeks, i’ll happily work a bit longer to blend!
So far this is the best eyeshadow I’ve used, and I have a huge amount of eyeshadow. My HG shadow! especially for neutral but sultry looks.

My hunt for cruelty-free eyeshadow singles led me to Senna, a company of which I was unaware, and my quest for a light matte rosy taupe shadow culminated in my purchase of the Matte Eye Color in the shade “Aperitif.”
Aperitif is a fairly difficult color to describe. The best I can do is “matte light-medium cool brown with slight rosy tones.” It’s actually just a hair deeper than I wanted/expected (I ordered online), but I love the color so much that I’ll work with it. I like to wear it on the lid, with Karity “Tart,” a slightly deeper version of the same shade, in the creases. The rosy tones in these shades really “pop” the green in my eyes, but are subtle enough that I don’t look like I have conjunctivitis.
Aperitif is a good quality shadow – it’s smooth and well-pigmented, with an admirable absence of chalkiness. It does generate some “dust” when I stroke my precision shading brush across it, but that’s a minor point. Aperitif stays put for hours on my extremely oily lids; over a good primer, like TF Shadow Insurance, it’s practically bullet-proof.
I do wish these lovely shadows cost a bit less; a refill pan is $16.00 US, and in a compact the shades are $18.00 US each. They’re worth it, though.

i got this in a “just peachie” palette a couple years ago on hautelook pretty cheap. i kinda forgot about it for a while and then was craving a true peach eyeshadow so i busted this out and wow! after using mainly urban decay’s powder shadows for a while, i can say these are BETTER!!! they are soooo creamy and pigmented!!!!!! they last allll day w/ a primer. haven’t heard about this brand in a while i hope they didn’t disappear off the face of the earth

Senna eyeshadows come in a shiny gold flip-top container with a clear/frosty lid. They retail for $16.50.
All of their colors are manufactured in the USA, which I like as a consumer for the superior quality. Even when you buy their shadow palettes or envelopes, you get the exact same USA made colors. These eye shadows last the longest on my oily eyelids and when I use Senna’s Totally Transforming Eyeshadow Primer underneath, I can wear my makeup for like 15 hours without worrying about it. All of their shadows are highly pigmented and blend like a dream. All of the Matte colors are highly pigmented, soft and easily blendable. None of the sparkly colors are chalky or gritty. None of these colors are ever streaky and the quality is consistently great. I’m sure you can tell that I am describing common problems with MAC colors, which I have come to really not like after trying Senna’s shadows. There are 4 different finishes and I love them all equally – Matte, Sheer Glow, Sparkling and Metallic.
Here’s my favorite colors:
Matte: Canvas (perfect base/light nude color), Lavender Smoke (smoky purple), Peacock (an AMAZING dark teal – words can not describe how great this color is)
Sheer Glow: Daisy (bright sunny yellow), Haze (pinky/purple dual reflective), Dazzle (golden/plummy shading color)
Sparkling: All of them! This is the best sparkling shadow I have ever used, and women of all ages look great wearing these since the sparkles aren’t overpowering huge chunks of glitter. Pistachio is the most fun color, and Bewitched is the best lining color.
Metallic: Pink Martini (golden/pink opal-like highlighter), Fantasy (shiny blue/purple), Sun Dance (the most amazing gold – looks like real gold leaf), Firefly (reflective golden pink).

I have this eyeshadow in Aquamarine, which is a fairly sheer silver-blue-green. The formula is soft and easy to blend, but the color turned out to be a lot more boring than it appeared to be in the pan. Based on the other glowing reviews I may try another shade, but Aquamarine was a bit of a disappointing introduction to the line.

got marabou in a swap… LOVED it! it’s a glowy mauve-ish pink shade. it’s from the “glow” line of shadows by senna – they are very aptly named. it really does make my eyelids glow. they don’t shimmer or sparkle, they just glow. perfect.

This shadow (FIREFLY & GRAPHITE) are very nice colors. The shadow goes on smoothly and evenly. Lately, they are not lasting as much as they did the first few days I wore them, not sure why.

First of all, the colors are not super pigmented (hence the bad reviews) but they do blend nicely and work well for the younger age range. I got the color blonde for my 12 year old daughter and told her how to apply it and how to prime her eyes before applying the shadow. I’m giving this a good review because this is blendable and perfect for a light wash of color all over the lid.

If you want to splurge, go to MAC, it puts EA to shame. since elizabeth arden is the only high end brand readily available where I live I`ve tried it many times…and am hugely disapointed. The eyeshadows are poorly pigmented, don`t blend nicely, and aren`t nice colors…They are also very shimmery and did not work for my older firends or me…Honestly the only person I could see using this makeup is a 12 year old…its sheer and the colors are crappy, she may as well use a generic kit!
The packaging is OK but not very strudy.

I was gifted the EA Christmas special set which included a pallette of 10 eyeshadows. The colours look nice in the pallette but the colour pay-off is terrible! The eyeshadows have hardly any pigmentation, colours hardly show up even if I use a primer / base and have no lasting power either. And I specially bpought EA’s eyeshadow brush to apply these. There’s no way I would buy EA eyeshadows.

My love for Arden must stop at their skin care and parfume. Because these eyeshadows are simply not the best. I have tried so many eyeshadow high and low and the Arden eyeshadow palette are one of the worst. They’re not the finest powder. They don’t have the smoothest application. They have one of the worst pigmentation. I’m not sure how nice the colors are because it’s hard for them to show up. I thought abut scrapping them out and use them like loose powder shadow to pile on my lids, but then why bother when there’re so many better shadow out there and in my drawer. I love a few Arden skin care products but that’s where I should draw the line.

“Would you buy it again?” – if only! I have about 8 or 10 of Stila’s single eyeshadows. They are quite large pans and they’ve also been designed to be fairly easy to remove from the plastic compacts if you want. The colours I have are so pigmented and beautiful but the only problem is that with the exception of Kitten (which seems to be their “flagship” colour), you can no longer purchase the singles. Some of their better ones did get put into the “Eyes are the Window Spirit” palette but far too many of them – La Douce, Cloud, Starlight, Grace and so many others – are no longer available. I am glad I have these shadows and that they are large enough pans that I’m not likely to finish any of them for a good few years. But I don’t understand why they’d discontinue this excellent range of shadows (mind you, I can’t figure out why Benefit also got rid of almost all their wonderful powder and cream shadows from a few years ago).

Out of all eyeshadows, Stila are my favorite. For the reference, I’m comparing to MAC, Urban Decay, Chanel, Dior, Sisley.
I can’t think anything bad about Stila:
– the colors are vibrant;
– no fallouts;
– blends beautifully;
– lasts all day;
– doesn’t crease even without any primer (no other eyeshadow perform well on my eyes if I don’t use a primer);
– no eye irritation (I have very sensitive eyes).
HG! The only brand I’ll continue to buy.

I got this in shell as it’s the type of pinky-taupe shimmer I use on the regular and I wanted a lot of it. It’s not My favorite formulation for eyeshadow, but I have no complaints. The color payoff is pretty good and I could wear this down to the pan.

I’m not original. At all. Like everyone else, I love the Stila Eyeshadow in Kitten. I prefer wearing this eyeshadow wet (you get a lot more a sheen with it). If I’m feeling extra special one day I’ll pull this shadow out and pop it on the lid. I’ll add some matte browns/greys in my crease and I’m all set! I love how this shadow is very pigmented. I don’t have to continuously dip my brush into the product to get an even sweep of product across my lid.
I give it an A+ on my grading scale!
I would repurchase (I would imagine it’d take you
forever to get through one of those Stila Eyeshadow singles!)

I have a Luxe Eyeshadow Palette (which was a gift as Stila is not readily available in Scotland where I live) that has 9 Stila eyeshadows (matte and sparkly) so I would say that it is a good range to be able to form an opinion about the eyeshadows from this brand.
It is my first foray into Stila as a brand and on one hand I am quite impressed (eye shadows are buttery, not too shimmery and decently pigmented) and on the other a bit disappointed – these eyeshadows do not work well with my Nars Smoodge proof eyeshadow base (which so far worked fine with MAC, Guerlain, Inglot and L’Oreal e/s) and my MAC eye brushes.
Surprisingly these work well applied with small Shu Uemura sponge applicators (which might be because of the eyeshadows being cream-to-powder formula) or fingers. Brushes seem to simply wipe off the colour leaving the eyeshadow as a patchy layer on my lids.
However, when applied these hold on for the whole day, w/o fading or creasing (though I would need to try them on sans Nars base) with a minute drop off of darker colours during application.
Although the packaging is really beautiful I am a bit worried about the eyeshadows drying out (I stuck a transparent plastic sheet separator with a bit of a sticky tape to keep them protected) so it is not ideal. It is also not very travel friendly imho.
I am just wondering if these would fit into a MAC palette?
BTW – The palette contains also a smudge proof waterproof eyeliner which I need to mention here – I use an eyeliner (Laura Mercier, Mac or Bobbi Brown) to tight line my upper eyelid as a finishing touch of my eyemakeup before applying mascara. This one was a bit of a failure in my books – it smeared all over my contact lenses within minutes from application! I had to take them out twice to wipe them off (luckily it did not set!) to get rid of blurriness. What a nuisance!

I find that the Stila line is typically hit or miss, but the quality of their shadows are great. They are pigmented, soft, and work with any brush. I will repurchase.

My favorite eyeshadow. They make wonderful colors in a super-blendable formula. I think they make the perfect shimmers: not too glittery or sparkly, just luminescent. The colors look true to their pan form and don’t crease easily. The team that makes these has a unrivaled eye for wearable, beautiful colors. The classic Kitten is a favorite, and the discontinued Viola. The packaging has changed over the years, some have been better than others. It currently comes in a plastic clamshell, which is fine. Love to get these in the sets Stila comes out with. A great value.

This eye primer is fantastic. i have tried about every high and low end primer over the years because i have vary oily, hooded eyelids and shadows are gone in a few minutes without primer, especially shadows with high pigment content like MAC. The pigment crumbles into pigment on my cheeks in a few minutes.. Some of the high end primers, like Urban Decay work, but give me a rash on my eyelids. Until I started using the L.A Colors primer, I had favored mostly the Wet n Wild Fergie primer or the Hard Candy eye primer. i picked up the L. A. Colors one on a whim while looking for the L.A. Colors concealer. This product works fantastically well with the L. A. Colors shadows. It really keeps them in place, and increases the intensity, more than any other primer.
This primer comes in a white tube shaped like a mascara tube. The product is a a whitish nude color that has a thin consistency and goes on clear on my pale skin. This is different from the Fergie primer that is a little thick and i have to blend it until it dries, or it forms rivulets in the creases on my lids.
The L. A. Colors primer also allows shadow to stick to some small scars on my eyelids that i have from childhood mishaps. It is hard to get anything to stick to scar tissue. I’m really enjoying NOT seeing gaps in my shadow where the scars are and not seeing the creases in my lids.
This product costs very little. I didn’t even look at the price because every L.A. Colors product is very inexpensive. I thought I lost it yesterday and made a special trip to Family Dollar o get two more.
The packaging could perhaps be better if it came in a tube because a little blob from a tube is easier to apply to the eyelid, in my opinion. That is a minor com[plaint, though.

I use this almost every day!! I wish I could see how much of the tube is left remaining. I got mine at kmart, I got it a couple of months ago. It’s got a doe foot applicator similar to a lip gloss. It is thin in consistency so that’s why it’s important not to over apply it. It was about $3 & worth every bit, it really does help keep my e/s from migrating, it’s better than elf or NYX to me. I love this! It’s similar to my skin color (NC15), but maybe a tinge more pink since I am fairly yellowish. I love LA Colors, I use this a lot w the LA Colors Traditional or UD Nakeds3 palettes also my coastal scents & BH Cosmetics palettes. Keeps colors from creasing, fading, & keeps them long lasting & vibrant. It’s really amazing how they can make this so cheap but really good too. I wish they would come out w a white (NYX Milk dupe) or frosty shade like UDPP. I love cruising the cheap makeup at kmart. L.A. Colors Professional Series Eyeshadow Primer is available in most Dollar General and Family Dollar stores. Also some products are available at Dollar Tree & some Five Below stores. This I havent found in Dollar Tree. At my local Family Dollar, this will cost you $3 which is really cheap. Not as cheap as my trusted Elf Eyelid Primer but compared to many other eye primers, its super cheap! My only complaint is I wish LA Colors was more readily available in bigger stores like Walmart or Target but one day..

L.A. Colors Professional Series Eyeshadow Primer claims to “Before you create you out on your eyeshadow, a primer is a must! It’s smooth yet textured, glides over the eye lid without dragging. Performs like a magnet, preventing eyeshadow from migrating and creasing!” It only comes in one shade which is “NUDE BEP287” This shade is a light pink skin tone color similar to Elf Eyelid Primer which will blend away to a colorless tone. I personally really enjoy the formula on this compared to Elf Eyelid Primer. The formula is nice & creamy whipped like texture that dries to a powder like finish. It seems to me to be more moisturizing than Elf since I do find Elf sometimes leaves dry patches on areas (which is not all the time so it may be a moisturizer issue) but over top bare skin or a light layer of foundation, this blends seamlessly and with no effort. It can be applied straight to lids w/ applicator than I usually blend it out w/ my ring finger but any brush will work too. It find it helps even out over pigmentation & slightly blurs any veining or issues on my eyelids. Now I do have normal to dry lids so those w/ more oily lids will have different performance or wear. I find the claims to be true. It helps leave a smooth base for my shadows to stick to. Its not overly wet or tacky but shadows apply & blend very easily over top. It helps with pigmentation as well as longevity. With this primer (and Elf as well) I do find my shadows stay put like when I first applied them for 8+ hrs. But I do not have oily lids. I think this primer will make a great barrier to help keep oil production from breaking down or creasing of shadows. I do not see any creasing in my shadows like some primers I have used (L’Oreal Decrease actually creases my lids for some reason). It does have a nice smooth consistency that allows the primer to have an even coat or protection over lids. As with any eye primer, do not apply too much or it will crease & defeat its purpose. I love how it feels, it helps w/ pigmentation, colors show up more vibrant & true as well as keep my shadows put for as long as I need them to. I think this is def a great affordable primer. I have also tried Jesse’s Girl & compared to that, this is less watery or runny by far. I love Elf but have def been reaching for this one everyday since I purchased it & will def be buying backups.

LA Colors Eyeshadow Primer comes in a nice white hard plastic tube similar to Elf Eyelid Primer or NYC liquid liner. The packaging is a white hard plastic with black & blue labeling & logo. The lid twists on/off & will keep product secure & shut. There is a long stick with doe foot applicator. The doe foot applicator allows easy placement on the lid or if you don’t like that, you can place it on a plate or hand. The doe foot is nice & soft. The packaging is nice I think. I like the white color bc it helps me find it quickly. The only downside is you cannot see how much is inside. There is a plastic stopper that helps take off excess product. So if you are like me & like to get to all of the product, near the end, I will take out the stopper to get to all of it. Id prefer a squeeze like tube but this is what typical eyeshadow primers come in. There is 7 ml or .23 oz of product, compared to Elf Eyelid primer which you receive .11 oz or around 4 ml. So you do get alot more product. I think the packaging is simple, practical, travel friendly and works just fine. I will update on how long the tube lasts once I get through one.
Overall, if youa re looking for a great new eyeshadow primer and are a fan of affordable makeup, def try this one out! I love it & will most def recommend to everyone that needs a primer and doesn’t have a mini fortune to spend on one. If you do have super oily lids, its worth a shot. I LOVE LA COLORS! I have this in Guess Again. It’s not matte, it’s silky (hence the name silky). It goes on like butter. I have high end eye shadows but this one I really love and it was way less $$. It gives a neutral look. Easy to blend with other soft or darker colors. The color is very similar to Stormy Pink (mac paint pot). It feels very smooth to touch. I’m looking to buy the other shades.

Well, I’m reviewing this special velvet eyeshadow here because there was nowhere else I could review it. It’s one of BeneFit’s new spring colors that you can only find on the BeneFit website. The color is called Bo Peep and it’s an icy pink with purple undertones in it. When applied, it has a very icy look to it, shimmer but not over the top. It’s a very subtle and natural color that you can apply deeper colors in the crease if you’re going for a dramatic look. The shadow has the same consistency as the other BeneFit shadows, applies smoothly and has a silky finish. It looks almost lavender in some lighting but it is a pink nonetheless, but a less girly in your face Barbie type of pink. I’ve gotten many compliments when wearing this shadow and it hasn’t failed to please me on many occasions.
However, I tried another one of BeneFit’s new spring colors, Shamrocker and unfortunately it doesn’t live up to the hype. It’s very chalky and doesn’t glide onto the eyes like the other shadows do. It ends up looking uneven and much of it ends up on my eyelashes. That one was a major disappointment. The color barely even shows up. So yes, I’d buy Bo Peep again but I wouldn’t purchase Shamrocker again. It was a total disappointment in the end.

This was a nice color that I liked on my eyes (blushing bride); it didn’t feel gross going on, and it lasted a lot longer on my eyes than I expected. Might be from the concealer, or the other shadow I put on top to really get my eyes to pop. I generally can’t stand it when eyeshadow creases after a few hours, and this one didn’t do that, which was a big plus for me. I might try another color or the creaseless shadow.

I have this eye shadow in Getaway. At first, I thought it would be way too dark for my liking. It is much darker in person than on the Sephora website – more of a dark taupe/brown. After using it in the crease of my eye with a lighter color, I find that I really like it and will probably use it often. It doesn’t go on really dark, but can be layered and made darker. I tend to be drawn to the neutrals, and this works very well with a nice shimmery ivory color on the lid and highlighted brow. I have a fair skin-tone with brown eyes and light brown hair.

I’m reviewing BeneFit’s “Big Beautiful Eyes” eyeshadow kit in “bambi.” I like the packaging and appreciate the directions included in the kit for applying eyeshadow and concealer. It’s also cool that it came with brushes. The price wasn’t so bad considering what’s included. For a novice at make-up like myself, it was nice to have a guide. That said, this eyeshadow is really flaky and powdery and I find that much of it ends up on my cheekbones rather than my eyelids. (And I’m not *that* bad at applying this stuff. . . .) Also, you have to apply a lot of the eyeshadow for even a little color to show up. It was a good starter kit, but I will not be buying this again.

Really love Faces eye shadows! A lot cheaper than MAC and you’re able to purchase refills of the colour which is even cheaper. The colours are well pigmented and can easily be blended! Will definitely continue to purchase!!!

I love Faces cosmetics, because the quality is almost identical to M.A.C and a bit cheaper. I pass threw a Faces counter from time to time and I always have to grab something. I own three of their eyeshadow colours. I have a duo set that is a dusky, shimmery purple and black. Unfortunately, the purple got loose a while ago, so I have none left. And the black pan is falling out as well. The compact is also broken though that may be my own fault. I also one a single eyeshadow in a bright midnight blue. I haven’t had any problems with that one so far.
The eyeshadows themselves are of very good quality, but it’s kind of a hit or miss. I didnt’ find the black eyeshadow to be that pigmented, but the blue and purple go on very bright and beautiful.
I would buy again, as long as I can test them before hand.

I worked as an assistant manager at a Faces store for a year and a half about a year ago. I bought many eye shadows and got many for free because I worked there. I have many MAC eye shadows and obviously plenty of Faces ones too, and honestly, there isn’t much comparison. I am a huge MAC fan and am not really a big fan of Faces Cosmetics, but their eye shadows are phenomenal. I saw another reviewer mention metaliglow, it is an amazing product. It’s great for all over your body as well as a base for under eye shadows. I stood by these 2 Faces products as an employee and now as a customer. Great colours, just not a huge variety and they don’t often get new ones.

well, i love all their eyeshadows as well. they are cheap but they have beautiful pigment AND do not leave colour marks on my eyelids like the ones at Sephora. And i just got this new product from them called METALIGLOW.. omggg it’s the best. I know you can use it for under eyeshadow but the lady told me to use it bleneded with cream on my neck when i wear foundation b/c it’s not the same and the metaliglow tans my neck a bit. it’s amazing!

My mother got me an 8 eyeshadow tower. Unfortunately most of them are cooler colours, but they can still work on me. Especially the blue shimmer for last years halloween when I was a Barbie! The shadows are great, shimmery, look awesome, however, I’m not in love with the tower thing. if you lay it on its side if you’re travelling, you can bet there will be eyeshadow everywhere. I wish they thought of that a little better.. but I will buy again, if I ever actually run out…

I’m surprised by all of the negative reviews on here, this is my favorite brand for shimmery/glittery shadows. I’m not sure if this makes a difference but I always use primer and then apply eyeshadow with my fingertips. I get compliments on my eye makeup all the time.

These are ok – I have about 3 compacts total (2 quads, 6pc palette). I just don’t find them to be smooth and pigmented like a lot of the eyeshadows I already own ranging from WnW, L’oreal Infallible to UD, Lorac, etc
The 6 pc eye palette is the one I use most often of the 3 but it’s not great. I have it in “perfectly neutral 10” and comes in with a cream, reddish brown and other shimmery brown, nude and taupe shades. I usually need to apply primer then at least layer the shade twice (sometimes more!) to see anything. They fade terribly fast too, even with primer I notice they are almost gone in about 4-5 hours. Some colours just show up as shimmer and not much pigment at all. They are also quite dry, and therefore difficult to blend when I’m trying different looks. I just use them now when I’m in a rush to just sweep a single colour over the lid and not blend with anything else. others have mentioned this in the reviews as well – that when used as a single eyelid colour it is ok but for blending – forget it.
Overall – I’m disappointed with all the SK eyeshadows because of the poor pigmentation, dry dusty quality and short wear time. They are workable but I would not repurchase. If you are on a budget, the WnW are really good, soft and blendable – much better than these!

If you’ve seen these eyeshadow palettes in Target and found time to wonder about them…by all means, take them out for a spin, but mind a few pros and cons. Pro: they’re sheer, wearable, blend beautifully, and the colours are on-trend without being loud and confrontational. Con: the texture is EXTREMELY dry and powdery, so expect a lot of fallout–you’ll want to prep the lids with a moist foundation or primer to help it adhere, and keep a packet of makeup wipes on hand to clean up under the eyes. I have the Shimmering Sands quad and the Diamond Life duo, both of which are in heavy rotation when I’m doing either nuts-and-bolts minimalism or a strong lip.

Great Eye Shadows! I have several of Sonia Kashuk’s single colors & group palettes. I like her eye shadows as well as Macs or Ulta’s. A little bit more color choices then other department store brands but not anything like Mac. But what is available are of nice quality & the mattes are very finely made. They blend well & hold all day.
The Sweet Nothings have a base with it which would work probably for normal to dry gals but I am a bit oily and Too Face shadow Insurance works better for me.
The Glitter Collection I bought last year has a nice matte plumb that is super nice color for in my shadow crease area when I use a light shade on my lid like Starlight (matte). I just wish it was available in the single palette. The other plumbs are too dark or too purple. I need to take it to the Mac counter (before I use it all up) & see if I can match it. I didn’t have any luck with matching it with Ulta. I think it may be a limited collection too.
I like the glitter collections but I usually do not use heavy glitter eye shadows. They just are too glam for work but I have used them as an accent – high light for evening wear. I am older (50) so a little is better for me and I do not like a dark or heavy look. Less is more – but of coarse none is so Bla!!!!
Better then most of department brands out there. I am not knocking department store brands as I do use some, just not the eye shadows. I have not found many that I like as well as Mac. So I do recommend Sonia Kashuk as a nice quality brand to use for eye shadows.
Too Face – Shadow Insurance, eyelid primer. It comes in a handy tube. It’s a little expensive but you get what you pay for. I never ever have eye creases and my eye make up will stay on perfectly till I take it off even 24 hrs later. I have combo skin in the winter (2 months!) but mostly oily skin here in drippy hot Florida! I’ve tried so many but this one is the best. It is the only one that I don’t ever have a crease no matter what I did even after a good work out at the gym.

I love her shadows! I have tried the sparkly ones which are to die for and the matt ones. I highly recomed the quad with the sparkly and matt shadows you will love it, It goes on super easy and gives your eves a wet shimmery look. I will buy again and stock up , I like these better than Bobbi Brown sparkle eyeshadows.

I like Smashbox’s primers & lipsticks, so I thought I’d give their eyeshadows a whirl. I bought Blackout and Hang.
I used Blackout as eyeliner first, and then tried it again to smoke out my lashline. It applied very dark and rich, however it had absolutely no staying power. Even with my fav eye primer this shadow faded, and disappeared entirely. I looked in the mirror a couple of hours later and had to laugh. It looked like I walked out of the house without any eyeliner. Gasp!
Hang was a grey toned taupe, and I tried it on my crease as a transition color and then as a contour. I liked this one a little better, but it was very lightly pigmented. I definitely had to build it up. The staying power was better than Blackout, but still not great. I personally didn’t like it as a contour color either, as it was too light
For the price, I wouldn’t recommend these. Urban Decay, Sugarpill, Lorac, and Bareminerals all have better staying power. The only positives I can say are that they had little fallout, and then Blackout saved me time on makeup removal by doing its own disappearing act lol

I have a smashbox eyeshdow palette and they are pretty good. They blend out well and the pigment is not bad. They color range was nice and plenty of matte shades to use for transitions colors. They also work well for an everyday look, but can be smoked out for a glam look for an evening out.

This review is for the eyeshadow collection that comes with the Smashbox Limitless Collection. This collection, overall, was a bit disappointing based on what I received for the cost, however I do like the eyeshadow quint. There is a mix of shimmery and matte colors in the shadow quint which makes it one that I grab often. There is a pretty matte vanilla-creme color that I often use on my browbone or as an inner eye accent. The next color in the pallette is a gold shimmery shade that is very versatile. It looks okay on the lid but must be blended well or it looks way too 70s. Today I used it lightly on my whole upper lid. The next color is a shimmery plum–it’s very pretty on my lids and brings out the blue in my eyes. It could also be used in the crease. Then there is a light taupe with a slight shimmer which is nicely worn on the lid or used as an accent shade. The last color in the quint is a matte dark brown that looks beautiful in the crease or “V.” It also looks nice on my rather large lids–the darker, matte color diminishes them a little and gives a nice, clean look. This color is also nicely used with a liner brush to line my lashes. Any of the darker shades in this pallette could be used wet as liners/shadows, too. Overall this is a nice product but I have found Smashbox products to be way overpriced and overrated when compared to the gems you can find at discount or drugstores. The Limitless liner is easlier duped with Milani Liquif’eye or I prefer E.L. Double Wear E.L. The lipgloss is gluey and smells synthetic–it’s very sticky on but I guess that’s what makes it last longer. The blush is okay but not spectacular. I do like the brushes that came with this set. The primer is way overpriced for the same quality I can get from mark or even Monistat for that matter, however I don’t use primer very often. The eyeshadow in the Limitless collection is the best part of this collection IMHO.

I am sad to give this review because the products are semi-affordable and come out with amazing all inclusive kits. The shadow is the only thing I dislike. It is really powdery and goes everywhere but my lid. I can see going all over the place like babypowder. The colors seem so pretty in the pan, but they are so light that it takes a ton of it to show any color on my lids. It is so powdery that as the day goes on I end up getting dry, irritated eyes. I wish I loved this shadow! I will stick with the eyeliners though.

These eyeshadows are a bit of a disappointment to me. Not as pigmented as I would like, everytime I would try to build up the colour, the shimmer would build up even more. good thing is, it’s not crumbly, therefore not much fall out.

These aren’t horrible, but for the price they need to be GREAT, which they are not. These are very dusty, and don’t have much staying power. Also, if you drop the pot just once, it’s going to break. It seems the formula is a very cheap one, although you’re paying top bucks for it. I’m sticking with my mac and makeupforever shadows. Sorry smashbox, these are a miss for me!

I bought Antique Rose and Almond, and I wear one of them every day. They go on and blend SO smoothly, and stay on. I couldn’t believe how smooth and buttery they were! They are quite sheer, but can be built up easily for more colour. The packaging is very very nice (easy to open and use, and looks wonderful), and you get a lot of eye shadow in one package so it will last a long time.
HOWEVER, they are EXPENSIVE! I would have bought many more colours, but the price tag made me limit myself to just two. I will definitely buy more in the future, but I just wish it were a little bit cheaper. But these are definitely my favourite eye shadows and I wouldn’t go anywhere without them.

I have Midnight Brown and Rosewood, and I think they are the best eyeshadows I’ve ever owned. I can already see that I’m going to end up ordering a few more shades because these are just too good.
Midnight Brown is a very flattering soft brown with a hint of taupe and just the slightest glow (I wouldn’t go so far as to call it shimmer), I can imagine it working on just about anyone. Rosewood is a matte, neutral, dusty rose that makes the perfect every day single eyeshadow, and also pairs perfectly with Midnight Brown.
Yes, the packaging is very chic, but the real reason these puppies are worth splurging on is their performance. They are buildable, so you can easily go from very subtle to very dramatic by adding layers. They blend perfectly,melt into the skin, and last all day without creasing. They don’t leave a powdery, flaky mess under my eyes when I’m applying, and the shades (both the ones I have and the ones I saw at the counter) are beautiful and timeless.
That said, this is absolutely a luxury item and no woman NEEDS to shell out $29 for an eyeshadow—I’m sure one could easily find a drugstore dupe and if I come across it I will update here for sure! 😉

Finally! Burberry cosmetics are available in NYC at Saks Fifth Ave… I had seen the swatches online last year, and was waiting and waiting to be able to see everything in person before purchasing.
I must say that I was not disappointed. I limited myself to 3 eyeshadows: Porcelain, Almond, and Midnight Brown. Porcelain is sort of a pinkish-champagne skintone shade that has a bit of delicate sheen to it. Almond is a mid-tone brown that reminds me a bit of one of the Edward Bess shadows that I own, but a tad warmer. It looks really pretty on the lid and along the bottom lashline. Midnight Brown is, I think, a new color that was released for the Fall 2011 collection (at least it was put in the display), and is a darker brown-taupe with shimmer and some warmth.
As others have mentioned, these shadows retail for $29/each, but the pan size are larger than the Chanel singles, which makes it sort of a better deal. (Not that I have ever hit pan, but I have to justify it somehow!) They come in a dark silver metal square compact with the traditional Burberry plaid embossment pattern, and they snap shut magnetically, which is nice. They also have a little velvet pouch with the plaid pattern as well, which is an elegant touch.
Anyway, the Burberry eyeshadows, though named “sheer,” are in no way sheer (unlike, say, the Bobbi Brown shimmer wash line). They are actually quite pigmented, but the color range is mostly neutral (although, I did spot a few purples and blues), and the effect on the eyelid is phenomenal. The shadows are soft and buttery without having fallout, and the texture just sort of blends into your skin rather than sit on top of it. It gives a really beautiful and polished effect – perfect for the workplace, or for that, “Hi, I’m just naturally pretty” effect.
I’m not sure why the rating of these shadows is high, whilst the “would purchase again” percentage is low, but I would certainly purchase again if I ran out, and would certainly try new colors! I’m very happy with the ones that I bought, and have to say that I actually like them better than my Edward Bess shadows, which were my previous eyeshadow HG.

I got one shadow from senna and its a trio called happy 4th of july. It has a large white portion and a smaller red and blue strip. Kinda like the Pop eye cake shadows. I was scared about the bright red at first but mixed with the bright blue it was more purple so it wasnt scary. The white is a shimmery white. The shadow lasted all day and didnt crease but i did wear it with mac eye paint as a base. Alone it lasted quite a while too. Very pigmented shades. I would try more senna if i had any around.
*update* recently got my hands on another shadow. Masquerade is a beautiful shimmery rich purple. Not a red based purple but a blue based violet one. Very pretty. Nicely pigmented, glides on smoothly, lasts all day with a good base. The pan is the same size as a MAC pro pan but the actual senna container is a larger gold and white flip top compact. Retails for $16.

I have 2 Senna eyeshadows: Pink Slip and Amethyst. i got them in the Glamour Kit (awesome kit!). The pink slip is a light baby pink with a bunch of subtle glitter. looks very pretty on as an all over wash. The Amethyst is a pretty shimmery dark puple, amethyst shade that looks pretty in the crease with the Pink slip as the all over wash. very blendable and blends well. just wish the packaging was better. cute but so many other brands have better packaging. the same size as mac eyeshadows

I’m very impressed with the silky texture and blendability of this eye shadow (would rate it way better than MAC for these qualities). This brand is available at only one local department store near me, and for months I could never find most of the eye shadow colors in stock (I just found out recently that this was because the company was in the middle of revamping their current shades). I finally tried the Pretty in Pink Face Folio, since I was so tired of waiting for individual e/s shades to come in. The Folio contained (along with 3 powder blushes) 4 eye shadow shades: Marabou (a somewhat frosty mauve), Forbidden (semi-matte dark purple), Amethyst (satin) and Tiara (matte petal pink). They are all so smooth to apply, and last beautifully all day without creasing (price-wise, though, the Folios are extremely high [$75], considering how much more you can get, for far less, in collections from Philosophy and other brands). I also purchased the individual new spring shade, Black Plum. This color is absolutely gorgeous, and wears perfectly as a liner. I would love to buy more Senna e/s, based on the quality alone, but doubt that I will anytime soon, since most of the new shades are of the glitter variety.

I have a eyeshadow duo and they’re both gorgeous colours but I wish I could say the same about the pigmentation. It’s not great colour pay off, you have to use alot to get the right pay off on your lid. The eyeshadow is buildable so you can have a softer colour look instead of intense colour. These eyeshadows are perfect for everyday wear and something I would actually expect from the drugstore.
I gave these eyeshadows a 3 because I really love the packaging of my shadows. It has a mirror and it’s very sheek. Perfect for grabbing when in a rush. Also I love the colours. Perfect for everyone. And lastly I personally like how they’re buildable. As a high school student at an anti-make up school, I can build how intense I want my crease colour to be. More noticeable, subtle, intense (but I’d have to use alot).. it’s great. I took off two because it’s hard to build up to a more intense colour and it blends a little too easily at times.

I’ve been using this eye shadow — in a coffee brown — for a couple of years now. It’s velvety and smooth, and I like that it doesn’t have glittery bits like many eyeshadows seem to have these days. I also like that I don’t have to buy a “set” of several colours to get the one I want. It doesn’t flake and it stays on all day, despite my oily skin. The only thing I don’t like is the applicator, but I use a small brush, so that’s okay. This is my favourite eyeshadow!

I like the EA eyeshadows. I only have a few though. The one I love the most is Mingle, a light fawn/taupe colour that looks like nothing special in the pan but looks great on the lid with blue or green eyes. Good pigmentation and lasting power.

I have just got into Stila eyeshadows, & am blown away with the quality,colors, and finish of these shadows.
These apply like butter! they have dreamy velvet texture. They are never uneven in application like getting patchy spots on some areas/ skin showing through).
Excellent pigmentation one swipe & I get sufficient color (not like I keep rubbing my fingers over & over again to get any glimpse of color).
Limited colors vs Mac but alot of them are worth picking up. Gorgeous single eyeshadows, the trio’s are a little expensive but they are beautiful!, Jewel eyeshadow: Explode with shimmer like a billion stars! I just tried black diamond next I will try some others shades
(I did not see any chunks of glitter though).
Some favorites: Kitten, Golightly(like this alot), Diamond lil (excellent by itself or for smokey eyes my favorite), Cloud (great! shimmering silver/taupe/grey) Grace (shimmering nude), Starlight (shimmering champagne), Sun (gold/peach), Wheat (beige light brown),Sparkle (golden bronze), La douce (metallice olive green)..

Stila eyeshadow (specifically the espresso shade) is my new favourite! I got it from ebeauty.ca for around $25, which is a fair amount more than my usual brand but I love the colour and it had lasted quite awhile. A little bit really does go a long way, and it blends really easily. The espresso shade is perfect for a neutral look that’s just a tad dramatic. Love!

I have one of the older shadows from when you had to buy the little pot separately to put it in and that packaging is absolutely horrible for travelling because they always open and I end up with divits in my shadow and shadow smeared across all of my other make up. That being said, even when they don’t open in your makeup bag, there are still piles and piles of fallout which is really annoying but the colors are gorgeous and a little product goes a long way so I’ll deal with a little fallout in exchange for great shadows. I don’t know how well the new packaging stays closed but I will say that from what I have seen just from checking them out online and in stores (I don’t really need any new shadows at the moment) the packaging is rather plane and somewhat ugly in my opinion so that is something to consider.

I’ve been looking for a color like this – matte medium brown with the perfect hint of plum. It’s actually pretty sheer but it’s nice for a day time look. I wear this with MAC’s e/s in Vex to highlight my browbone. Absolutely gorgeous.

I have one of these in “Dear John,” a very pale pink. I think it used to be called “Blushing Bride.” At least that’s what the salesgirl told me when I asked for Blushing Bride.
I dislike Benefit’s eyeshadows. They are far too dry and powdery. When applied very thinly, they aren’t too bad, but if you apply them thinly they don’t even show up, so what’s the point?!
This stuff looked like slightly-pink CHALK on my eyes, and I didn’t even apply that much. It’s a shame, since it’s such a nice color. If it had been made right, I might have liked it a lot more.
I’m sticking with Mac shadows. They’re powder, but they are not powdery, nor are they too moist. They’re perfect. And cheaper. 😛

Reviewing eyeshadow in “don’t quit your day job”. cute name, cute packaging. It is a dark blue color. It goes on more like a greyish blue. I like the color though I don’t find it “extra special”. the powder consistency is ok. not as fine as I expected. But go to use it when want to do a smokey eye effect.

Faces is Mac for the price conscious…
The range of colours is unbelievable, the fact that you can custom make lots is very practical, and they often have specials on those custom lots – ie: $12/eyeshadow, or $65 for a palette of 8 eyeshadows and a blush in a large mirrored case.
At this point i have about 30 of their eyeshadows, and although i hate about 10% of them (they’re the ones that are more neutral, not so highly pigmented), the other 90% are amazing. If i want neutral colours, i go to clinique or l’oreal or lancome, but if i was a shock of colour without the MAC prices and the MAC hype, i go straight to faces. Also, they wear very well, staying on the lid for quite a while.
Tip: enhance the staying power of your eyeshadow by either applying faces metaliglow face shimmer #2 (can also go into foundation – excellent highlighter) under your eyeshadow, or putting a little concealer on your eyelids prior to putting on eyeshadow.
Ps. the golds/bronzes/coppers are to DIE FOR. Gorgeous.

I am sooo disapointed with the quality of their eye shadows. I have oily skin and the powder eyeshadow does not stay on my lids for long at all! When I apply it to my lids it’s so light that it flies everywhere on my face and then after like fifteen minutes it’s non existent. Terrible quality. I definitely would not buy their powder eyeshadow again. MAC’s powder eyshadow is sooo much better quality. I decided to try faces because it was cheaper but I guess you really do get what you pay for.

At first I didn’t like this eyeshadow because it hardly showed up. But then I tried it over the Metaliglow and it was amazing. It doesn’t crease and it stays vibrant all day.
