Espresso is a beautiful deep, rich neutral brown-black powder shadow, perfect for a defined eyeline that’s softer and more wearable than a gel or liquid liner.
Bobbi Brown powder shadows are the absolute best for eyeliner; they are deeply pigmented and almost creamy, so you can create a soft or a dramatic look without powder flecks falling on your cheekbones. They might seem expensive but you get a lot of concentrated product for your money and they really do last for years.
I have Espresso in my Nude on Nude palette and it works really well as an eyeliner with the mid-toned warm and cool shadows in that kit, or on its own.
Bobbi Brown shadows are great for filling in brows too, and that’s the reason I wouldn’t buy Espresso again. I have black hair and brows and use black brow dye but even so, Espresso is too dark as a brow filler. I’ve just repurchased Bobbi’s Mahogany which I’ve been using for many years because it works both as an eyeliner (a little lighter than Espresso) and is the perfect shade for my brows. I just find my everyday makeup routine is so much easier using the same product for both.

Amazing colour! Easy to apply and stays on all day

This has been my hg for many years. I use it over liquid liners (physician’s formula eye booster, wet and wild h20, mac liquidlast) to give them a softer look & improve lasting power. I apply with Posh brand angled brow brush & use the shadow either wet or dry. Very pigmented & color is almost black without the harshness & blue undertones I find with black shadows/liners.

This is my HG eyeliner. I alternate between this and Rich Navy, but I reach for Espresso more often. I like it as an eyeshadow as well, but mostly use it for lining. I usually use this dry, but occasionally I’ll apply it wet for a bolder look. Combined with Ivory as the highlight and either Cement or Heather on the lid, it’s perfect. Lasts all day with little to no fading. One caveat, however, is that it does have fall-out, so the brush needs to be tapped prior to application.

The Espresso eyeshadow was my first ever Bobbi Brown purchase back in my student days when £12.50 seemed to be a fortune to be spending on one eyeshadow. But it started a brand loyalty that’s still going strong a decade later.
I had no idea what a finely-milled eyeshadow meant back then, but noticed that it applied very easily into an even coverage over my eyelid and didn’t crease, even without using a primer. That set a high benchmark for all my eye shadow purchases since. I used to wear it on its own, but moved on to using it as a base colour before applying darker shades nearer the lash line over time.
The colour is true to its name: it’s a dark brown (which suits my tanned medium, yellow-based skin tone) with a black undertone, and lends itself especially well to the classic smokey eye. I would love to pair it against my new shade of Balsam from the Metallic Eye Shadow range. I can’t remember how many pans of Espresso I went through before this shade was discontinued. I think there may be a Matte Eye Shadow in Bobbi Brown’s current range with the same name, but the colour is lighter and more grey than the original.
Am keeping my fingers crossed that this will make a reappearance at some point so that I can stock up.

This is the best dark, matte brown eyeshadow I ever tried! Which it should be otherwise it wouldn’t be worth the money. My mum went through a huge Bobbi Brown madness a while back and then “forced” me to try out this eyeshadow. I can promise you that I was very willing.
The price of this will stop me from repurchasing it.
The packaging is typical for the brand.
And I definetly like it!

Espresso is one of the best dark brown eye shadows ever. It works well as an eyebrow color as well as for eye lining. Staying power is decent and color is nice and dark but not harsh like black is. The pan will last for ages. Only thing I am not too crazy about is the price.

I got this eyeshadow as a gift with purchase but i wouldnt repurchase. I actually use Espresso more for the tail of my eyebrows. I have dark brown almost black hair but my hair has a bit of warmth in the sun. I dont know if i love this as an eyeshadow because it is a drier type of formula. Its not the easiest to blend but for the brows its better. Espresso is pigmented but hard to work with. It is still good, just not a must have since i rarely use this as an eyeshadow. I rather use Embark for a smokey eye or to darken the outter v. I am C1 Nc20. Anything too cool will make me look ashy and dirty. This is just “okay” in my book but for brows its great. This is not terrible but its not great. Its a so so eyeshadow.

Excellent as a brow filler- I’ve used this for years. Darker but still brown colour. Blends really well. Versatile shadow.

So I have a medium/tan complexion and my hair is a medium reddish brown. I personally don’t like the ‘fleek’ or harsh look on my own face as I have a baby face and this on my brows is PERFECT!!! I first came across this when I had ran out of what I was using on my brows when I was 15 (I can’t remember what it was a generic dark brown in a random eyeshadow palette) so I was desperate and the lady at the MAC counter recommended this. When I got home I tried it and honestly its great, lasts all day I’ve had it for over two years and barely made a dent in it! Would 100% repurchase (if I ever need to!)

I bought this hoping I could use it as both a brow filler and crease color. It was a bit too warm for my very cool brows. It’s a nice, staple color to use in the crease, but I had difficulty blending it. I returned this and got Concrete for my brows (similar in depth, but cooler) and Cork as a medium golden brown crease color (it’s a bit lighter and more golden brown than Espresso, so you can have more control over building it). I can see why Espresso would be a work horse as a liner, crease color, outer V color, and brow filler.

I use this to deepen my makeup look. It’s gorgeous with amazing pay off. I don’t use it everyday, I normally just use my MAC Swiss Chocolate eyeshadow in the crease, but some days when I want a darker look I’ll apply this to the outer corners. It’s not so dramatic but you can build it up in a really intense smokey eye. Completely matte. I would really recommend using this for everyday if you like a smokey eye. Totally worth it! I have this in a palette with brûlée, soft brown and Swiss chocolate and it’s my go-to palette. Try it!

This is my go to eyebrow product if I’m not using Makeup Academy eye shadow in Chestnut. MAC describes this as a ‘Golden Brown’ I’d say ditto. The pigmentation isn’t bad, but since I use it for my eyebrows, the intensity isn’t really a key factor for this eyeshadow.

I bought this along with Cranberry as my first Mac shadows. Its a medium basic matte brown that has great pigmentation and staying power.
I really loveee using this for defining my crease. Its also very flattering on me all over the lid.
Also, it matches my eyebrows perfectly. I’m not much of a brow person, but its the only thing I use now for when I do my brows.
Great multitasking product.

One of my HG gel liners. Anything by Bobbi is usually really good, but this is great! I love the consistency and the fluidness of the product. It last a good 8 hours with a primer and it looks great. Def buy again.

I use this color every day as my liner. Its amazing and last forever. I love Bobbi eyeshadows. Great quality & consistency.

Espresso is in my Modern Classic Lip & Eye Palette from BB. Very versatile. BB does neutrals so well. Her matte shadows are top notch. I don’t wear this one too often b/c I’ve been reaching for NavyCharcoal as a liner regularly. But it’s a staple to add to your BB collection for sure.

I use this for my eyebrow and it does a decent job. Its one of the few matte eyeshadows works for me.

Basic matte dark brown. I use this all the time in my crease and outer corner. It’s really pigmented and blendable. Just a staple product to have

This is a great color for a natural smokey eye (at least it is for my hazel eyes). I like using this instead of eyeliner, it gives me a natural soft look…
