I was hoping to use this color to highlight the inner corner of my eye and the center of my eyelid, and to have it be an option w/o shimmer. Happy to say that I didn’t notice any shimmer like other reviewers noted. Completely matte. But also quite chalky and difficult to blend. I even used my fingers when my fancy brushes didn’t get the job done. Not a great loss as I only spent a few dollars for it. And I’m not mad at Maybelline. While I’ve not had much luck with the matte shades in this line, some of the shimmer ones are rather good. I won’t repurchase this particular color though.

Anyone who says you can’t find a decent matte eyeshadow at the drugstore needs a crash course in Maybelline 101, because this shade along with Earthly Taupe and Made for Mocha are every bit as smooth, creamy and pigmented as anything from my UD Naked palette.
This color is your very classic vanilla color that can be used as a wash all over the lid or a browbone highlight if you’re going for a subtle shimmer-free look. I don’t mind using the sponge applicator it comes with, or my finger to apply this because you will get a lot more pigment out of it this way versus using a brush.

I recently purchased my 2nd pan of this shadow. I love this shade as a natural-looking matte highlight on my brow bone. As they say, “like my skin, but better”.
-I used to use MAC’s “Vanilla” pressed shadow as my matte skin-tone highlight, but vs $15+ a pan, I’ve found Maybelline’s “Linen” to be a very affordable replacement.
I like to use this semi-opaque light vanilla/creamy-white matte shade not only as a brow highlight but also to help to blend out the edges of my eyeshadows, and it acts a little bit as an eraser around the edges, too.
While this is a matte formula it does have the barest hint of a satin-shimmer…but the shimmer is really not noticeable on the skin
I had depotted my first shadow in this shade and added it to a small palette specifically for my highlight shadows…but then I hit pan and started running pretty low. Definitely had to grab a back-up of this awesome shadow!
I will certainly continue to repurchase this fantastic product.

Was looking for a bone matte shade to cancel out the redness/pigmentation of my eyelid as a base color. This is not it. It’s (almost) white and very sheer, so there’s virually no coverage. It is also NOT matte. It looks matte in the package, but it has shimmer-not a lot, but noticeable.
I’ll find a use for it somewhere I’m sure of it, but if your looking for a neutral base color, don’t bother with this one. I give it 3 stars for being just ok.

I am a fair to medium toned person and this eyeshadow was too light for me. However it is aptly named as the color is a light linen or bone in color. I thought the color was going to be more of a neutral bisque color.
In terms of texture and blendability, the eyeshadow applied and blended just fine. I just wanted other to know that if they are looking for a neutral eyeshadow that this color probably isn’t it if you are a bit medium toned.

A nice, basic matte bone shadow for opening and brightening the eye area. I am in my 40s, with deep-set eyes that look even more so with dark eyeshadow. Linen is the only eyeshadow shade I use, all over the lid and browbone. It last reasonably well, about 8 hours, and is certainly easy to touch up during the day. (It definitely lasts longer and looks more noticeable when I prep my lids with concealer.)
The packaging is El Cheapo, but Bobbi Brown charges a ridiculous amount for her “Bone” shadow in its luxe little pot. I can handle cheap packaging if the shadow works well!

Great to have on hand to highlight brow bones, inner tear ducts, cupids bow, and cheekbones! Super cheap and easy to come by. I just use my fingers to apply.

I’ve used this off white matte shadow on my upper and lower lids, and then applied Maybelline Earthly Taupe on the areas I want to darken and recede (upper brow and corners of the eyes). The lightness of the shade opens up and brightens my eye area. I also use blue eye liner and blue mascara for further brightening.

I got a white and sliver, i like them a lot. the colors show up great for me. great price, great packaging. i love it. if only i could find a navy blue…
