I have Espresso in the Eyes are the Window-Spirit palette. It’s a perfect matte brown shadow that doesn’t run warm and is one of those great multi-use shadows. I love this paired with Wheat and Golightly from the same palette – Wheat on the inner third, Golightly on the outer two thirds and Espresso in the outer V. It makes a perfect easy but defined eye in very little time. As others have noted, you can use this to line (wet or dry), for brows and I’ve also used it to hide bits of grey regrowth at my hairline! My only quibble with the packaging, which looks lovely, is that these shadows seem very prone to crumbling which could be the formula, the package or both but it makes me very reluctant to travel with these or to take them anywhere at all.

This blends out so smoothly. That does mean it’s lighter allotted than in the pan: a plus for me (Soft Summer), but maybe a negative for others.
It looks natural as an eyebrow filler, although MAC omega matches my hair better. It also looks natural as an eyeliner, since it blends out smoothly.
Incidentally, this plus Mac Quarry and Stila Chinois makes a gorgeous smoky eye.

Not a fan of Stila eye shadows but this one I LOVE along with GRACE (not worn together obviously). It’s a super pigmented darkish brown with a slight gray to it, on my skin at least. It wears well and I consider is a neutral so I can either wear a warm or cool lip colour with it. Love it!

The color in the pan is a beautiful very dark brown, with subtle shimmer. The shimmer doesn’t show on the eye when applied, (which was good, as I was looking for something quite matte) unfortunately the shadow didn’t show up as dark as I would’ve liked. Stila shadows are very soft, which you can get away with in lighter colors, but in the case of the darker shades I ended up with a ton of dark fallout. It recently shattered and I’m not even going to try to re-press it.. Sorry Stila, straight into the trash with this one!

Not my go to brown at all. It barely shows up on my NW45 skin at all. I try pairing it with bouquet and it barely shows up. I need something darker and smokier. Eh…

Great alternative to black for lining or smokey eye. It’s a cool dark brown with slight plummy undertones on me. It is ALMOST matte, there is a very subtle shimmer. I find it very easy to work with, you can wear it sheer for daytime or build it up at night for a sexy smokey eye.

Lovely dark brown, it doesn’t turn orangey on me. Instead it seems to have purple(?!?!?!) undertones, I suppose it must be the grey. It’s a very lovely colour though, like almost everyone else I like pairing it with wheat. I find this too dark to use on my lids, so it’s a crease/liner colour for me. Its a good staple to own, though, and I’d rebuy if it ever runs out [doubt it given the size of the pan].

I really don’t have anything to add to the previous reviews; everyone has already sung the praises of this color so well! It’s great as a liner…it’s great lightly applied on the lid for a subtle brown/gray wash with some shimmer….it’s perfect for a smoky eye. Looks awesome with Wheat!

This is my favourite eye shadow in my collection. Number one, it’s Stila and I do think they make the best eye shadows out there (so silky and smooth). Number two, it’s a perfect color for my brown eyes. it’s very tricky to find a perfect brown eye shadow (I can’t have any red undertones in it – it makes me look tired and as if I just cried), but this one is just right. It’s deep brown with gray tones to it. You can use a fluffy brush to apply it sheerly like a taupe wash of color, or you can use a dense brush to layer it on for a smoky look. Beautiful!

Espresso is one of my ‘desert island’ eye shadows. Has such great pigmentation that when used wet as an eyeliner it looks like I have used a gel liner. There’s only a smidge of shimmer in this, which is enough to give it a little more depth, but still makes it very versatile.
