Not cheap for a “drugstore” product but most of Pixi’s products are mid-range in price and perhaps a bit higher than someone might expect in drugstore . But this chubby shadow stick is a bargain in every other sense. First – hurrah – it’s twist up, so no need to faff around with a sharpener and waste product. Second – this applies smoothly and evenly and is a dream to blend or smudge but when it sets, it really stays put with no smearing or creasing. Third – this particular colour is gorgeous – a murky mix of bronze and pewter without noticeable red that some bronze shadows have. I took a gamble as there was no tester but I absolutely love this colour. I can use it as a “one and done” all over my lid and crease without it looking too dark, partly because of the shimmer in the finish and partly because it almost seems to blend itself. Another nice detail – the light green packaging makes this pencil so easy to find amidst a bunch of black and dark grey coloured liners and stick shadows in my eye pencil container. There are several other shades in this line but the Shoppers Drug Mart I was at only seemed to have 3, and this was the only one I was interested in, thanks to an article in last month’s Canadian Living magazine which featured a look using this shadow stick. I didn’t think it would be as wonderful as it look in the mag, given that it was done by a makeup artist with all the accouterments and the lighting and photographic techniques but, honestly, this pencil shadow is basically goof-proof.
