Not sure why this is even called Deep Forest. You’d think it might be a beautiful dark *green* BUT it’s really muted and muddy for a green. It’s matte and flat like clay with the addition of a fraction of a hair of a hint of … green?
I don’t use this as an eyeshadow. I use it on my brows. Seriously. If you happen to be a ‘cool’ or ‘ash’ blonde and struggle in finding a brow gel that isn’t too orange or warm, this might be your ticket. On me, I don’t see any green at all. It comes off as a cool/ashy grey taupe. As in hair colour, the green counteracts any warmth if used judiciously. I had been using the Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe, but when this one came out, I preferred it even more. (Tough as Taupe will work for many but in comparison, you can see it has purple in it? Or it looks purplish in comparison to Deep Forest). Brows are a pain, especially if you’re trying to find a shade that works with cool ash blonde (with some grey mixed in). My brows are almost invisible when they’re not filled in and this just seems to *work* really well with my colouring and looks natural…(at least I’ve yet to have someone comment that I have moss growing out of my forehead so I think this is a winner winner chicken dinner for me.) Not to mention the price. Wait for a sale. Just recently repurchased for $6.99Cdn. Now if only Maybelline would actually make a real “forest green” color tattoo with shimmer. Then I could actually use it on my lids…

Although I am a fan of Color Tattoo in general, this color falls flat. It shows much more green than it is upon application. Once its on, its a muddy, murky brownish color, like dirty swamp water with the barest bit of green.

This color was just what I was looking for. During the winter, I like to wear olivey, forest greens vs. teals in the summer. I have never really used Color Tattoos for eyeshadow but prefer to use them as bases to deepen the look of the colors of eyeshadow I’m wearing. This one goes on fine with your finger and it is buildable. I think some folks get tripped up when they try to use these with brushes. Some of the colors, mattes specifically, look much better when applied with your fingers because they respond better to the warmth of your body.

Does not go on evenly, and the color is meh.

I bought all of the Color Tattoo Leather collection, and I am pleased with them all. This is a lovely green color, and it works great alone as well as with another color layered over. The pot I got wasn’t dried out, so maybe thay explains why it blended easily for me and I didn’t fine it patchy at all. I have over 30 color tattoo’s and am glad to have more matte colors in my collection. I was hesitant about this color because of a negative review, but found a great sale and figured i could return this color if I didn’t like it. I’m happy I bought it and will be keeping it.

This is for the “leather” version of the eye tattoo cream eyeshadow pots. Gorgeous eyeshadow-the only caveat is that the name is a little misleading-this is not a “forest”; it’s definately an olive. Very matte, smoother than the MAC paint pots. This wears well with UDPP; it’s very blendable. Very subtle; a mid-range taupey olive.

I own a couple Color Tattoos and love them so was excited to see the introduction of the new Suede collection that is said to be all matte. I did read beforehand from quite a few bloggers that some of the shades in this collection (including Deep Forest) applied very patchy but the pretty green color in the pot overcame any hesitation I had. So I purchased at Bed Bath & Beyond.
The reviewers weren’t kidding! This stuff feels creamy like my other Color Tattoos but when applied to the lid, it goes on extremely patchy which seems difficult for a cream e/s. I tried applying with my finger, a brush, without a primer, with a primer, building up with multiply layers but nothing made it look as smooth as you would expect. I am amazed this product made it through the testing phase at all.
And the color when applied on the lid–YUCK! It is difficult to describe. In the pot it is a pretty khaki green but when put on the lid, it turns to a very sheer, muddy, and dull gray color with barely a hint of green. No matter how many layers I applied, the pigmentation, intensity, and color did not change.
It is said that this color will be part of the permanent collection but I predict that it will not take too long to be discontinued. Much to my disappointment, this shade is a complete dud. Thank goodness for the liberal return policy at BB&B.
