This is a difficult review to write because although I liked the shades of my Clionadh singles there were definite issues with both my ordering experience and eyeshadow formula itself.
I’ll start with the negatives first. Shipping/processing time on these was unacceptable. I read the turn-around-time (TAT) was “up to 20 days” to ship and I was fine with waiting that long. I order indie a lot and they tend to have longer TATs. However, it went well past 20 days, and I did not have a large order, nor did I order during a big sale.
Most indie brands will temporarily stop taking new orders if they’re so dramatically backlogged, or at least change the TAT listed on the website. If they were unable to timely fulfill orders I think they should have stopped taking new orders.
If you are ordering these as a gift keep the delayed TAT in mind.
Now onto the formula. I really liked their shade variety and ordered mostly duochromes and shimmers. The formula is soft and gently pressed, so these are fragile shadows. I would not recommend them for travel.
I would also not recommend these for oily eyelids. The formula has a lot of slip to it and is very buttery. I tried wearing them on powdered and primed lids and over a cream shadow base and gel liner base, but I could not get them to stay. Wear time for me was two hours. They were very faded and what was left settled into my crease and transferred to my brow bone.
Now for the positives! While they exceeded their given TAT they did keep me updated on the delay and were very friendly in our email correspondences. They did take about a week to respond to emails, though.
I enjoy the colors I bought. Over a black base they really popped and the duochrome effect was lovely. There was no kickback in the pan and no fallout either.
I will not be ordering from Clionadh again. I am going to try and mix the shadows I have with some Inglot Duraline and see if I can at least use them as liners.
I’m disappointed that I could not get them to stay put on my lids, but the formula just did not work for me. If you have drier lids maybe it would be more successful, but for me there was just no staying power.

Wasn’t happy with my order. I ordered over $300 worth of items. That was my first mistake, but I did so because if I ordered less, I would not receive a discount on shipping. It was $20 to ship to my house with tracking and in Los Angeles, packages get lost all the time. I also ordered a lot because it seems like every indy beauty guru talks about how great this brand is. When my eyeshadows arrived, some of them didn’t look so great in quality. Some has black specs on them and I decided not to chance those. The others were cracked. Now, I know this company hand makes the eyeshadows…..and, .well, it sure looked like it. For the price you pay and the time you wait, it looked like it was made in an Easy Bake Oven. Did I mention it took 2 months to get here? Anyway, it was $300 down the drain.

I would not purchase from this brand again. I prefer other indy brands like Sydney Grace. I agree with the other reviewers that the orders take over a month just to receive a shipping notification. Yes, they do update on social media, but I personally have not logged into my facebook or Instagram in over 6 months, so I was left in the dark. I never received an email or anything. When the makeup finally arrived (I order the 66 degree north collection) the shadows seemed worse for wear and for the price you pay, the packaging is just meh. They’re packaged in plastic shells that don’t hold the shadows intact when shipped overseas. I had two broken shadows that I had to repress. As for the color payoff – it’s the same as other brands. Their pigmented and yes, they have clown colors, but I’ll stick to Colourpop for now. FYI – shipping to the US is $20. There is no choice on that. Way too much for products that weigh under a pound.

I’ve been purchasing from Clionadh Cosmetics for about a year and a half now. They’re one of the most reliable and consistent brands I purchase from. I own approximately 50 shadows from them now. Mattes are blendable, kind of creamy, with unique colors/tones. Duochromes is where they shine the most. Some of my absolute favorite shadows of all time. If you’re hesitant on the price, order a couple mattes and a couple duochromes in colors you use frequently. Personally, I got a couple green and purple Duochrome shadows in my first order. Eye of Newt, Geckos Tail, Calx, and Panacea; and a couple aftershock highlighters, Breaker and High Voltage. I’ve since ordered from their 66.5 degrees North collection, Stained Glass (multicrome) collection, and acquired the Archeo/Paleo palettes. Nothing has been a miss. Standout shades; Ice Algae: a cool-toned mint green with a slight blue microglitter (I use this as a matte. Calx: Lilac/Periwinkle duochrome. Sublimate: Pale chartreuse matte. Candela: Electric lime/chartreuse shimmer with an invisible base. Enamel: Purple base with with lavender/periwinkle mircoglitters.
I can see how someone could find these shadows expensive. You have to pay for shipping from Canada which is kind of expensive. Everything is also handmade, hand pressed, packaged, and shipped by the two girls who own the brand. I had to wait almost two months to receive my most recent order from their stained glass collection (they included a free shadow for the wait time). But they constantly updated everyone on social media about the delays and responded to emails as they could.
Overall, I am happy to pay the price for some shadows that are so unique. If you like basic-@$$ makeup it’s probably not the brand for you. If you are creative or want to wear eye shadow that is really unique and colors you can’t find at Sephora and Ulta, you might want to give them a try. As when trying anything new, don’t drop too much money in case you find that it’s not your cup of tea. I recommend this brand to everyone in my life. People always ask what eye shadows I wear and it’s almost always this brand.

This is a Canadian Indy brand that is highly touted on Youtube by the likes of angelica nyqvist, spooky lips and a bunch of others. So, I ordered two of the eyeshadow palettes and a bunch of their eyeshadow singles without reading the fine print.
1. It took over a month and a half to arrive in the mail.
2. 6 of the eyeshadow singles were broken and two of the eyeshadows in the palettes were also broken
3. I emailed the company and it took them a week to respond, after which, they said they would send out a replacement, which is also currently taking over a month to arrive.
4. As to the formula. Let me just sum it up by saying this – just buy from Colourpop or Morphe. I know Morphe is made in China, but the formula is similar and so color payoff and you can now buy both brands at Ulta.
5. Last but not least, the eyeshadows definitely looked like they were made in someone’s kitchen, or someones oven and I was not happy. I spent almost $400 on these eyeshadows and I feel like I was ripped off.
