This palette is very “Ehh” to me. I don’t understand what the hype was all about. The color story doesn’t stand out to me, a bunch of very neutral, boring shades. A lot of the shades you really have to scrape to get good color payoff on the lids. A lot the looks I’ve done with this end up being very muddy and all blend together to one boring look on the lid. The shimmers need to be sprayed to get a good color payoff. The smell is very artificial and doesn’t smell like chocolate to me. I will say the tin packaging is very sturdy and has held up well. Overall, not something I absolutely love or would buy again.

I am reviewing the original Chocolate Bar palette, not the semi sweet one!
I personally love this palette, but I completely understand why not everybody does. That being said, I likely won’t repurchase it as it is expensive ($59 Canadian) and I feel like by the time I hit pan I’ll be tired of the palette.
Pros: I think it smells delightful and the scent of it cheers me up whenever I use it.
The packaging is sturdy, I’m not afraid of this palette popping open if I travel with it.
The mattes are soft and blendable as are most of the shimmery shadows.
Save for Candied Violet the metallics/shimmers/frosted shadows applied beautifully, even prettier if spritzed with water!
It is incredibly easy for me to create a quick neutral eye look using just this palette.
The shadows are all named, which I appreciate!
Cons: The mirror on this palette is laughable, in my opinion. I wish they would get rid of the text and make the mirror itself larger. As it stands I use a separate mirror to do my eye makeup.
I wish that the shadows White Chocolate and Champagne Truffle had the same pan size as the other shadows. That would free up space for another two shadows!
Cherry Cordial is a shadow I have mixed feelings about. The colour in pan is beautiful but I really wish it was either completely matte or a metallic finish. It’s an odd hybrid shade where it’s mostly matte but there are sparkles placed throughout it.
Candied Violet is a mess and needs to be reformulated or simply taken out.
Haute Chocolate and Hazelnut are a little too similar for my tastes, one is every so slightly warmer. In my opinion the palette didn’t need both shadows.
There is a *lot* of browns in this palette which makes sense given the name. If brown shadows aren’t your jam then I wouldn’t recommend the palette for you. If you want a palette for quick and easy neutral eye looks this one will certainly get the job done!

This is a great all you need type product; I would give it a 5 if I could replace a couple of the glittery shades with satin or matte neutrals.
I am usually a MAC girl for eye shadows and for quality and shade range I still think MAC is the best, but these are great too. The shadows last without creasing and have great color payoff. The dark shades are beautiful; there are only a couple of light and mid tones, and those are lovely.

This product is SO hyped up for nothing. Packaging is obviously cute and smells really nice but there are only like 5 shades that are ok, and by ok I mean a 6/10. The cherry colours come out as GREY on my skin tone (light medium) the matte browns are ok but if you layer them they can look very muddy AND also they come out neutral/cool toned when its supposed to be neutral/warm. also the two violety-ish tones are so dry and horrible to work with.
This is not even a palette for someone who has just started because it’s not even easy to achieve a nice look due to its lack of blendability and its dry texture.
The only good-ish shades are:
-Salted caramel (which lacks pigment but I can still make it work)
-White chocolate (Plain creme colour that you CANNOT get wrong)
-Marzipan
-Hazelnut (which looks warm in the pan but comes out neutral but I still like it)
-Champagne Truffle.
I obviously use it cause I don’t like throwing my money away like that but I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. It’s toooo expensive for what it is. Get a drugstore palette instead that will do the same thing or buy single shadows, I dont know. But I really do not recommend this for no one.
I honeslty don’t get how beauty gurus love this so much. I fucking hate them.

Smells gorgeous and I love the packaging! Really good quality and lots of colour variety. MOST, but not all shades are very smooth and creamy, in fact my ganache shade is really rough and hard to apply!!!

Absolutely beautiful pallete! Bought this for my mum as a gift, and she loved it. I did use it once or twice when we went on holiday together and the shadows are great! Good variety of mattes and shimmers. There’s a beautiful pearly kind of shimmer and a deep teal which I literally fell in love with! (amongst others) Packaging and the palette itself were also beautiful. Nice touch that the shadows smell like chocolate too

Great packaging, lovely chocolate smell, nice mix of matte and shimmery colors. I love it and can travel with this as my only eye shadow.

Gorgeous shades and they blend nicely. Has a little fallout thought, but nothing major. I love it.

This is one of the best eye palettes I’ve ever used. The staying power without even using primer is great, it’s lasted days for me before I finally removed it. It goes on very smoothly, and is well pigmented. There are a lot of brown, pink, and gold type colors, some shimmer. This is just a very universally flattering palette. It also smells great! <3

I was excited to get this iconic palette and lucky for me it was a gift from a friend. It was very underwhelming. Yes it smells great but that is a pointless fad and has no added value. The pigmentation was meh. The blendability meh, the size and shape of the palette meh. For the price I think that the only successful thing about this palette is the marketing.

I have nearly purchased this palette time and time again. With it being half off at Ulta recently I finally purchased it. And I will be returning it. My overall impression, snore fest with mediocre shadows.
The packaging is a magnetic tin. The magnet is pretty weak so it doesn’t feel very secure. And the mirror inside rattles. It’s a very cute design and uses space well. I like that the names are printed by the shadows.
The formula for most of the shadows is so dry and dusty. They apply pretty smoothly and blend well but getting color pay off on some is a beast. The mattes are ok, a little dry and stiff and very hard packed but ok. I love salted Carmel, triple fudge, and white chocolate. Semi sweet, milk chocolate, and cherry cordial were ok. Strawberry Bon Bon didn’t have much color pay off, I had to really pack it on. The true shimmers are pretty nice too. I love marzipan and champagne truffle. Creme Brule and haute chocolate work well. But the satiny shimmers are terrible. They are dusty and super densely packed. You have to use them wet to get any color pay off so you really can’t use them in the crease. Gilded ganache, candied violet, hazelnut were the worst. I got amaretto to be quite pretty when foiled. Black Forest truffle is bad too. Over all there were about 5 shades I loved, 4 I was ok with, and 7 I disliked.
As for the colors of these shades, snore fest. This is the most uninspirering palette I have ever worked with. And that’s probably because 7 of the shades wouldn’t show up on my lids. I’m theory guided ganache, cherry cordial, and candied violet could be fun. But they all either had poor pigmentation and poor color saturation. Cherry cordial performs ok but it ends up looking washed out brown on the lid, not burgundy. Strawberry Bon Bon doesn’t show up. I cannot get candied violet or gilded ganache to look like anything on the lid. It’s a patchy, faded, colorless mess. If I kept this palette I would use about 5 shades which are all easily duped in my collection and that it. Those five shades are quite good but I just don’t want this palette taking up space in my collection for that. I remember watching someone try to pan this palette on YouTube and I just remember how frustrated she was and how much she hated it. And I recently also watched a one month one palette with it and she got very bored of it. I can see why both of those ladies struggled. It’s going back as soon as I’m by an Ulta.

I bought this at Ulta during their 21 Days of Beauty sale. I’ve been quite impressed with the quality of the shadows, however, the colors show up very muddy and don’t blend well at all. I ended up giving this palette to my coworker since she loves Too Faced. Not to mention, I ended up having a bad reaction to the scent.

Smells delicious, colors look nice and are pretty long lasting. Pans are very shallow I went through my favorite color pink sugar in no time at all. Reason for poor rating is the darker colors don’t seem to blend well on the skin and end up looking dirty. Also there is a lot of fall-out and I mean a lot. Another thing is I think there’s something in the formula that irritates my eyes, maybe it’s the scent. Other than that the packaging and colors are great and I do like the idea of a scented product but maybe just not for the eye area.

At the end of the day, this is my go-to palette. You can create basic looks or something more dramatic. There are a lot of neutrals/browns so you have to like that sort of look to get your money’s worth. Some beautiful shimmery lid shades. I also love the pink and purple colours to mix things up when I’m in the mood. Has a nice mirror, good packaging, and smells like chocolate (which everyone knows). It just makes me happy looking at this palette! I will be going on vacation for 2 weeks and this will be the only palette I bring as its so versatile. Definitely recommend and would repurchase.

So there’s a few colors with great formulas that are unique and I love enough to keep the palette. That being said, there’s a lot of hype over this guy for it to have been such a let down as a whole. There’s several colors with patchy formulas and extremely lackluster pigment. The red and purple shades that originally drew me to this are the biggest let downs ever – extremely patchy and next to no color payoff. I would STRONGLY recommend swatching the colors you’re interested in at the store prior to purchase. There’s a few warm caramel colors (matte and shimmer) that I love and are super blendable which keep me from totally regretting this one but I would recommend one of the Tarte palettes over this one any day.

I am surprised that as popular as this palette is, there are not more reviews for it on makeupalley. Anyway, below is my review. I hope it is helpful to someone who is considering this palette.
This is a lovely looking palette and smells just like chocolate which I love! However, I am not over the moon about this palette as many people are, but it does have its pros and cons. I think if you do not have any other palettes and you want to start with some basic colors and some wonderful shimmery shades, this would be a good place to start. You get a lot of colors and if you were to pay for each of these shades individually, you quickly realize that this is a good value. It is important to look at each individual shade in the palette, and swatch it, and really ask yourself “am I going to use this or am I just a sucker for this really pretty palette?” The shades are warm and if you lean more towards cooler colors, you may be disappointed. I thought I would be happy with it since it did have some lovely purple toned colors, but alas those were too sparkley or lacked pigment and I could not justify keeping this. One of the sales girls at Ulta told me she exchanged this herself for the Semi Sweet palette which fit her coloring better (blue eyes, fair skin, dark hair.) I wanted to love this palette, but it just didn’t do it for me.
PROS:
Cute packaging!
Smells like chocolate
Some shades (not all) are creamy and blend beautifully
Champagne Truffle is a wonderful shimmery shade (but if you already have Sin by Urban Decay, you may find it pretty similar)
If you are going to use even half of the shades in the palette, it is still a good deal
CONs:
Some of the brown shades do not blend well and come off looking muddy
Some of the colors that first drew me to the palette had weak pigment or were too sparkly for my taste (candied violet, amaretto, black forest truffle)
In comparing how the colors swatch vs the Tartelette Palette, I realized that the quality of the Too Faced palette was just not there.

It contains 16-color shades for a wide variety of smoky looks. Very easy to blend and stay on eyes all day long. I like that it comes with a mirror for added convenience. All I need is my eyeliner and this in my bag to keep me ready all day. Compact size is easy to carry. Great price and I would definitely buy this again.

I got this back in the day when this was new and hyped and everyone kept talking about it. It was one of my very first eye pallettes ever so my expectations weren’t as high as they are now as I didn’t have much comparison. I kept using it, the packaging was cute and it smelled nice. But when buying the eye pallette you expect shadows to be good and there are pretty meh. To tell the truth I haven’t had much luck with Too Faced products overall, I think apart from the super lovely packaging they are pretty overpriced and overhyped for what they are. The shadows in the pallette don’t blend nicely and don’t have a staying power, also the pigmentaion is really not that good and there’s much fallout. I am not impressed with this one and I gave it away.

Colors are wearable, warm neutrals and for the price there is a decent amount of product and shade selection. Unfortunately *I* am allergic to this shadow. Understandably ymmv but I don’t know why fragrance (as in parfum/artificial) is added to an eye product when the eyes are so sensitive and eyelid skin is so thin and delicate. TF has revamped their line where basically ALL of their shadows are now artificially scented and now they’re basically dead to me as a brand bc of this. Even the 9 pans are revamped now w added fragrance. I feel like they isolated a huge market that wants their makeup to just be high performing makeup, not a kitschy looking collectors piece that smells like ice cream.

Forever my favorite eye shadow palette!! The formula is amazing and all of the shadows preform nicely. The colors are beautiful and practically glide onto the eyes and there are no blending issues whatsoever. All of the colors work well together and are very pigmented. This product retails for $49 but is worth the buy! I have green eyes and this palette really makes them pop. Hands down the best Too Faced product that you could purchase! Worth the hype!
