Purchased Moonlight Shimmer which appears as a very light taupey brown with champagne gold flecks on my NC15 skin. This looked like the least intense in opacity and glitteriness compared to the others. I like quite a minimal look and I like to use this on it’s own or applied over the top as a gloss. I prefer this much more than the Stila liquid eyes as they are too much for me (I’m in my 40’s and wear makeup primarily for daywear so I like to keep it more natural).

Unlike the previous reviewer, I actually had a very nice experience with these new Chrome Liquid Eye Shadows.
The key is to understand that this is not Stila type of a liquid eye shadow product (one where you get a lot of glitter on top of a colour base). These Laura Mercier shadows run sheer and have more of a sophisticated, minimalistic vibe to them. They work best on top of the brand’s very own Caviar Eye Colour Sticks – especially lighter, more shimmery shades shine bright when mixed with a darker creamy base. I often use these on top of any powder eye shadow and this way they act as nice toppers rather than anything else. They dry relatively fast and do not budge.
I share unedited swatches in a separate review here, for those of you interested (. Hope it helps!

I love liquid shadows, so naturally when I saw Laura Mercier had ventured into them, I jumped. Big mistake. I purchased this in Moonlight Shimmer, which is described as “shimmering taupe.” It is not. It’s very similar to GA’s Eye Tint in Gold Ashes, but a bit deeper and very slightly more brown. I swatched the two side-by-side on my arm and was surprised by how similar the shades are. It comes in a lipgloss-style tube with a doefoot applicator. The texture is not bad–not too thin, not too thick. So I dabbed a bit on my lid over UDPP and started to blend (with a finger–my usual tool for this purpose). Disaster. The shadow slid everywhere (I’m pretty good at applying liquid shadow–it’s what I use most–but this ended up under my eye and outside those imaginary lines we all have for shadow application). It was not only grossly patchy, but it also has pretty large shimmer particles that really stand out–before they end up all over your face. (These were not visible when I swatched it on my arm, even in direct sun.) And there is very little play time–it dried quickly, so trying to fix the patchiness was impossible with additional spot application, all-over application, a damp finger, or any brush I used. I was heading out, so I put on liner and my most lengthening mascara to hide the mess before cleaning up the worst of the outside-the-lines shadow. The camouflage worked pretty well, but before I left the house (maybe 20 minutes), the larger flakes of shimmer were beginning to fall. Several hours later, they were pretty much all over my face. I hadn’t touched my eyes, so I’m not sure how that feat was accomplished. (On my forehead?) The staying power was good, although I was fervently wishing it wouldn’t be, and it came off easily with Neutrogena’s bi-phase eye makeup remover. I’ve since tried it over other primers (Lune & Aster, MAC Paint Pots, BE’s 5-in-1), but the result was the same. Awful.
Really, Laura? Why soil the Caviar collection name with this awful product? And at $29 for 6 ml of mediocre color? I will be returning this and, needless to say, would not repurchase.
