Okay so the real reason that I bought this palette was the packaging. There is a photo of my city on it and i was excited about that and felt like I really need it. if it wasn’t for that, I don’t think i would be interested in the arrays of colors in the collection. I mean the colors are beautiful but after constant use of eye shadows/ palettes i have come to realised that i am more of a matte shadow and neutral color kind of person, plus i don’t think that this palette has a balance of matte and shimmery colors. Looking at the palette, it took me some time to figure out which color should i start off with. I feel like a ‘born to run’ palette should be something that you could quickly decide on creating a look.
Anyway, i do love the packaging, quite sturdy and the big mirror. Performance wise, the mattes are pretty okay but some of the shimmery ones tends to fall out and fades away really fast on me. Even after using an eye shadow base.

I am not a huge eyeshadow junkie. However, this is one that caught my eye since its first launch. Since I know a lot of products get overhyped, I decided not to purchase until I was able to grab it on a sale and did research seeing that a lot of people on YouTube STILL continued to recommend this product as a favorite even once the hype period ended.
First off, this really does have an awesome array of colors. I have a few drugstore palettes I would use when I would go all out on my eyeshadow, and the colors in the “Born to Run” replace 3 individual palettes I already owned. The quality is also better than my other ones.
Since this product did gain a lot of traction, I also LOVE how easy it is for me to google it and find so many different looks to “copy” rather than me struggling to figure out what will look good together. That was a huge selling point since I struggle with that.
Personally, I love this palette and think it would be an especially good purchase to a person who doesn’t have a huge eyeshadow collection and wants a versatile palette. It seems there are some negative reviews on this (and maybe if I had tons of different palettes and formulas and colors I would agree?), but for what I need – it is perfection.

Let’s start with the basics: price and packaging: Where I live it sells for 51 euro, which means a single shadow from this palette costs about 2.5 euro, which is about the drugstore price for a cheaper single, so that price is already awesome. I bought the palette with a discount which reduced the price per shadow to under 2 euro, which is awesome for an UD palette. The price is certainly fair, their naked palettes retail for more while they only have about half the shades.
The packaging design isn’t my favorite, I dislike the dark packaging while the colors are so bright, It would’ve been nice if it was just 1-2 colors with a small cute logo and the name of the palette. But the packaging itself is sturdy, the clasp magnetic and easy to open without opening involuntarily, and it’s sturdy and heavy, without being overly heavy. The eyeshadows are square, which is much more convenient in use then the small rectangles UD usually uses.
The colours: You won’t need another palette to put an eyeshadow look together, I’ve made more than 20 unique eyelooks with just this palette. However, the palette does support the other UD palettes. You can make a nice blue eyelook if you combine the blue shades from the Born To Run palette with last years Beached palette. And you can create a more pink-cherry themed look if you use the two cherry shades combined with the Naked Cherry, same goes with the Naked Heat palette and the warm shades from the Born To Run palette, however, you don’t need those palettes to make a complete eye look with similar shades.
Pigmentation:Usually, my Urban Decay palettes don’t have much kickback, these do have a fair amount, about similar to the ABH ones, and the darker ones certainly have some fallout. All palettes, even the most expensive ones, suffer from the same ailment: not all shades are equally good. The purple and cherry one: Wildheart and Guilt Trip, the ones I most desired to be good, are just shimmers unless you make them wet. And if you blend them while they’re still wet, they almost disappear. If you make an eye look, these need to be your final colour. UD palettes are usually fine if you dip a wet brush in a pan, but if you do that with the Born To Run, the shade starts underperforming and you need to scrape the top layer away. Bit of a shame, but understandable, shades aren’t meant to be made wet, if they’re fine with water that’s usually more due to luck than because it’s fine to make them wet.
All the other shades are lovely and perfect and beautiful and I couldn’t be happier.
I’ve tried all shades and since I have brown eyes and a neutral complexion, they all fit me. The longevity is quite nice as well. Even without primer and fixing spray they stay on for 7-8h. With a spray and a primer they’re fine for over 10-12h. So you can definitely “run away” with them.
I’ve waited a year to buy this palette to see if the reviews would still be good without the hype, and to see if people still used it after a year, once the newness had worn of, and they do. In December/January they were still in the “best palettes of 2018” and they’re still in a lot of “my favorite palettes in 2019” collections.
Worth the money!

Well, add me to the disappointed masses. I totally passed on this when it first came out. I thought it was just kind of “eh”. But fast forward quite a bit and it goes on sale for $30 and I “thought” I just read a review about how great of a palette it really is. So when it came on sale, I ordered one immediately. After playing with it, I have come to a few conclusions.
1. This one is totally my fault. These are not my colors. The first row is nice and neutral and I can work with it easily. Smog is always a classic shade (second row) and the dark black and brown are always good to have. But the entire bottom left 6 shades (3 from top and 3 from bottom) are just awful on me and the two colors I have the hardest time with (full on orange and that magenta color). The funkier blue/green/purple shades are interesting but don’t do much for my nw20, deep winter with weird golden undertone skin and brown/hazel eyes. I can appreciate the options at least though with those botton right 6 shades (3 top, 3 bottom).
2. I am having the same problem with my last few Urban Decay palettes. All the colors muddy together to create a mess. They don’t seem as pigmented. They don’t seem to blend as well and catch a lot (yes even with primer). Maybe the ABH Soft Glam palette just spoiled me. But I also love MAC and have tons of those that perform better. I think I just need to give up on UD eyeshadow palettes. Let’s just hope I learn my lesson.
So if you want an eclectic mix of colors and you were a fan of Naked Cherry or ABH MR, then you might like this palette. But I am not into this at all. I had issues with both of those and the new Naked Reloaded. I can pull off Heat, but it gets monotaneous. Soft Glam from ABH has been a fave of mine along with my extensive MAC eyeshadow collection.

I actually would repurchase but I have only had it for about 2-3 months so I wouldn’t be in a huge rush because I’m still getting to know it.
I like the selection of colours more than I have liked others on the market, and I do think the packaging is cute.
I don’t own a lot of palettes at all because I hate the feeling of not using all the colors, this gives me a chance to use some colours I don’t use often as well as some day-to-day shades.
Hope to get more use out of it

i don’t get the bad critics i read here for this palette…
this is THA BEST palette i ever had, and i have a lot, most of them high end, the second best, beeing sultry by ABH.
SUPERB color selection, UNBELIEVABLE pigmentation, perfect blending (i applied with my fingers when i unboxed it, and it was great!). it really has all the colors you dream of heaving, running away…
i ll take it with me when i will…
great big mirror. i miss a good two ended brush so as to be perfect. i am a little worried because it has a light magnetic closing. i dont know whether it could open in a bag. for the time being, i keep it in the box.

I bought this palette very soon after it’s release and it’s been with me now for about 6 months. I have probably used it three times in that time. I wonder now why I don’t reach for it. I do have a lot of palettes, so that may be one reason of course, but the fact I’ve used it so rarely is because it’s just not that great. I remember it appealed to me because of the vast colour ranges and them not appearing to bright or bold. It looked wearable on line. In reality, the way they are set out in the palette is quite ‘jumbled’ to me. I end up taking shades from all over the place. Some look very different on the eye, than they do in the pan. Some are quite muddy. I have had to remove a look before and start again with this, which doesn’t often happen. The shimmers are a bit ‘meh’, they disappear quickly with no punch. I think urban Decay need to improve the formula of their shadows as they are in danger of falling behind the now vast competition. They were at the forefront a few years ago, but now they need to up their game.

Not very well pigmented for an Urban Decay palette.

I found this really mediocre honestly. The formula was great, as per urban decay, for most shades. The palette is damn huge though, which makes it awful for travel, storing and general use. You can get these shades elsewhere, and you defiantly have them if you bought a palette in the past two years. You don’t need it!!!!!

Really like this palette. Nice selection of good quality colours. Packaging is quite nice as it doesn’t feel overly bulky or super light and cheap. Some of the shades are quite powdery when you dip your brush in which doesn’t bother me personally but might some people.
