I love this palette. The shadows are buttery and have great colour payoff, and the pans are a decent size for getting a brush or finger in them. These work well for me with and without a shadow primer, with primer they’re a bit more intense. The metallic bronze-peach shade is so beautiful that I press a pop of this on my lid (with my finger usually) on pretty much every warm look I do. The yellow in the bottom corner is my favourite under brow highlight colour too.
I have a few other Nyx palettes and they’re a bit hit and miss, but I’ve already ordered another one of these. I’m told the Avant Pop palettes are all great and the Go To palettes have the same buttery formula. I hope they make more like these!

These are the most pigmented and smooth shadows I have tried at the drugstore. They blend easily too. For example, the matte yellow-beige shadow is pigmented enough that I can highlight the inner corner of my eyes (I fall around NC 43 in MAC) with no base and only one pass and still get a very noticeable highlight.
The reason I will not repurchase this palette or any of the Avant Pop ones is mainly because they contain Ethylhexyl Palmitate. It’s a very comedogenic ingredient and without fail any product with it breaks me out. These shadows are no exception, and at the moment I have pimples on my frigging lash-line, lid, and browbone from it. If I use the light shimmery eyeshadows as a face highlighter I get breakouts where I highlight with them. It’s a shame because they make beautiful highlight shades.
Another CON is that the gorgeous deep olive shade has a lot of fallout, both while applying AND throughout the day which is mortifying because the shade is SO pigmented. When I used it with my standard lid primers (Maybelline Color Tatoo or Milani one) it didn’t prevent the fallout. I could only wear this shade applied on top of a still wet application of the Nyx Proof it waterproof eye primer, so that the shadow would get embedded in the primer and thus not move.
Shade wise, all the colors show up on my NC 43 skin-tone (olive-beige undertone) without using an opaque light base. The shades that best looked on my skin-tone were the deep warm brown, the deep warm olive, and the deep purple looked good as a soft/smoky outer V shade. The rest of the colors worked but didn’t look as nice as those three. The worst shades for me were the light pink and light/medium peach shimmer shades (though the colors worked as cheek highlighters).
I would ONLY recommend this palette to people with skin not prone to breakouts and that have (or are willing to get) a good eyeshadow primer. Concealer doesn’t cut it.

I’m always on the look out for new eye-shadow palettes. I saw this one for 16 bucks in Target and picked it up. I really like all of the great colors especially the moss green, plummy color and silver eye-shadows. Of course it also comes with a few highlighter colors. Although most of the shadows are highly pigmented, I found the plummy color to be lacking the pigment to promote a really strong eye. I had to go over my eyes at least 3 times to get the color to pop. The one thing that I really did not like about this pallet is the amount of fallout is way to much. Even tapping your brushes before applying, I still had to clean up all of the fall out mess on my face. Other than that, this is a very economical palette to play with and it lasted throughout the day without having to apply a primer.

These shadows are awesome! They are just as pigmented and buttery soft as a high end palette. I have several dud NYX palettes that I purchased in the past so I was hesitant to buy this one. When I saw it at Ulta it was the only one left which I thought must be a good sign. I began to swatch the display palette and was so surprised that let out an audible “Oh my gosh!” These shadows go on velvety smooth and last all day with a primer. I have been using it non-stop. There are mattes and shimmers and both have very little fall out. I would recommend this palette to everyone! Good job on this one NYX! Love love it!!

I saw this palette on NYX’s website and I immediately thought the colors were pretty, but with my past experience with NYX palettes (I’m looking at you, dreamcatcher palette), I didn’t want to spend a whole $17 for it, especially since no one had yet reviewed it on MakeupAlley. Ulta was having a 40% off sale and when I stopped by the store, I asked the SA if they had the palettes, and they were hidden on an end cap. I figured since the discount was good, I would try it out. I settled on the Nouveau Chic because I really don’t wear many brightly-colored, matte shadows like the other-colored palettes had.
First let me say the colors are lovely and reminded me of a much more expensive “bridal” palette that I was wanting so I really liked the colors. It has a clear plastic cover over the pans, which is nice to see which palette you have in your hand when you’re getting ready. I purchased it and didn’t do anything with it for about a week because I was afraid the shadows would be lacking pigment. I finally tried it out and I am totally impressed. The colors are soft and pigmented, with a little bit of fallout in the pan on the shimmery shades but none once I applied it. The individual pans are also much larger than I expected when I saw it online. It has a good range of light, mid-, and dark tones to create a whole, cohesive look.
I started with the midtone shimmery champagne color all over the lid. It applied like a dream with one swipe (over my color tattoo base coat) and was shimmery, multi-dimensional, and opaque. I then moved to the matte chocolate brown shade. Being used to other NYX palettes, I patted my c-brush in the pan thinking it would be difficult to pick up any color. Well, that was a terrible idea because the brown was super pigmented and went on very true to color and I had to blend like crazy to get it back to being a subtle crease color. The matte white/cream shade was also very pigmented and was a great browbone shade once it was blended. I used the first light lilac/pinkish shade for an inner corner highlight and it looked gorgeous as well. I couldn’t believe how nice this palette was coming from NYX (whom I love but have not had the best luck with their palettes).
I really think they have stepped up their game in the eyeshadow department, first with the prismatic shadows, now with their palettes. I hope to purchase the other versions of this palette and see if they are equally as awesome. I am very happy with this purchase and am very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the palette.
