Essence may be a lower price drugstore brand, but the quality of their eyeshadows is amazing. I bought two of the 3D`s shades in green and blue. The color payoff is just wonderful. I use these both wet and dry and with a good primer they last and last. These are a bit sparkly, but not in a metallic, over the top way. You can intensify the effect is you wet the applicator. When applied dry they are buttery and blend really easily.

It has the coolest 3D swirly “print” (similair to MAC’s Extra Dimension eyeshadows and Kiko’s Water Eyeshadow) that is separated into two colours – a true gold and a yellowy cream. Both are very shimmery, yet the texture is velvety smooth. The shimmer is very fine, so the glitter particles are not at all gritty. I find the lighter cream colour to be the smoothest, but I imagine the 3D look of the gold colour just makes it different to work with, while not actually being worse than the other one.
The pigmentation really surprised me. I think the eyeshadow looks rather cheap in it’s plastic packaging and Essence is a budget brand. But you should never judge a book by it’s cover I suppose, because this actually turned out to be very nice. Not only are they gorgeous eyeshadow colours – they can be used as highlighters as well (particularly the lighter colour).

I’ve got one in Irressistible Mermaid(?). Sky blue and deeper blue. When applied with brush it seems really sheer, but the color depth is easitly done with just sweeping some eyeshadows with your finger. Very shimmery eyeshadows.
