I bought the L.A. Girl LA HD Pro Primer Eyeshadow STICK, IN BLACK. I love the idea of an eyeshadow primer that comes in a stick form, but this is garbage.
It just slides right off. After giving it 30 seconds or so to set, I thought I would test its durability. I was able to remove it completely with a Q-tip. I then tested it on the back of my hand – again, it does not want to set and stay.
I love the price but even at only $5 it is not a “good value” if the product does not work at all.
I hope this review helps the next person save $5

Affordable, easy to use, blended well with no white cast with my complexion. My eyeshadow didn’t budge all day and I like the pen application making it easy to apply with no digging into a pot or container. I’d buy this one again.

I got this eyeshadow primer stick in the shade “Nude,” and though the color is a bit too peach/warm to match my NW15 skin exactly, when I blend it out it’s okay; it does a good job of evening out the skin on my lids, creating a nice blank “canvas.” The primer does feel a bit “tacky” for a few minutes after application, but it sets quickly, and though it feels more emollient than I typically prefer on my oily skin, it doesn’t feel greasy. I find the “stick” form very handy and application is a breeze.
Since I have *extremely* oily skin, I dust a layer of translucent blotting/fixing powder (like Essence “All About Matt”) over the primer before applying my shadows and liner.
When I follow these steps, my eye makeup looks good for five to six hours, as opposed to the one to two hours I’d have before everything collects in into narrow greasy lines in my creases if I used no primer. My shadows may have lost a little of their color intensity at this point, but since I always wear neutrals it’s difficult to tell.
By the very end of the day (seven to eight hours after application), my makeup does go into melt-down, but even so I can just smooth it with a finger and it looks all right.
Though my HG eye primer is still Shadow Insurance, this L.A. Girl stick is a very good, cruelty-free, inexpensive ( < $5.00 US) “everyday” primer. I’ll keep buying it, though I do wish they’d come out with a cooler neutral shade.

I’m quite pleased with this product. I didn’t know if I would be — it was dirt cheap on Amazon. I actually had some credit – so it was free. I was actually looking for NYX shadow stick in Milk, but couldn’t seem to find it. I stumbled upon this, and thought, how different can it be? I was pleasantly surprised. It pretty much does the same thing. Iv’e used it on two occasions and it held up for 12 hours and my eyes looked just like I did them that morning. It really intensifies your shadow, and makes it cling. I usually do put foundation on my eyes, to cancel out veins and such and then add a little concealer (just what is left from my under eyes), so I only prime the main part of the lid. The rest of my eye is pretty much set. I do put power on my eyes, but then layer this on the mobile lid, to intensify. It really made my shadow pop. All you have to do is apply it from the stick to your eye (it’s quite soft) and using your ring finger just blend it out a little to fit the complete shape of your lid. I was surprised, some shadow sticks can be rather rough- I have some from MAC that are and are much harder to blend — this little cheapie blended quite well. It allowed me to use less shadow to get the effect that I wanted. I’ve paid over $20.00 on Urban Decay’s Primer Potion, and different ones, – I won’t do it again. This little gem does the trick. I think NYX is $6.00 so I even saved money there. I truly believe this is just as good. We have to save money everywhere we can!!! Give it a try!!! I think it was $3.00? I think K-Mart carries L.A. Girl too. I would have never guessed!

Really suprised at the low ratings for this. It’s amazing. First, it cancels out lid color. It’s a little thick (which I like). It’s not slippery but very creamy. And, it grabs eyeshadow so nice. It’s doesn’t crease on me and I have hooded eyes. I can only imagine people not liking it if they don’t put a shadow on over it. It’s creamy, it doesn’t dry down. The price is right and it comes in three colors, black, white and cream. Already bought a backup!

Not a good product. This product has a silicone feel on the skin. My makeup did not say that after about 3 hours my foundation separated. I purchased this product because I heard that it could be similar to the Smashbox primer. In the past I purchase Smashbox primer and absolutely hated it but, since this was a cheaper alternative I was willing to give it a try. A total waste of money it did not control my oil on my face at all. I don’t recommend this product however, I am not the biggest fan of la girl products and you do get what you pay for.

This didn’t work for me as an eye shadow base, something in it bothered my eyes, but I use it as a concealer! It works great and blends with my skin tone. Very easy to apply.

I have this in Nude and to me this is a dupe for the Tarte Colored Clay CC Eye Primer Stick. I like this and the Tarte one. They both neutralize any discoloration on the eyelid, help intensify shadows and increase wear time.
