I’ve had highend and lower end eye primers and this can compare to its more expensive competitors for sure. I have oily skin which also results in oily eyelids and this really helps the colors to not crack and rub off throughout my day. The size that you get is also generous and always lasts me a good while. This product is a steal for sure!

I bought this on a whim…It’s a fairly good eye primer…
When I first started using eye primers, my first one was the L’Oreal Decrease and then after researching many reviews, I tried Tarte’s Clean 360 Creaseless Eye Primer. That was my holy grail. When I went to repurchase it, I found out that it had been discontinued. Grrrrr
So my attentions turned to the NYX Proof It Eyeshadow Primer. I absolutely LOVE this eye primer! The formula is superior and the doe foot applicator is great! I live in a small town so I had to order this online. Well, it accidentally fell out of my upper cabinet and the wand broke away from the tube container…I can still take it out and scrape it off of the wand, but it’s a pain. It closes shut like there is no crack so it’s fine that way. You would never know it’s broken. I hate not using things up so I am determined to finish the product as best as I can…
So I was in a store out of town about two weeks ago and saw the Hard Candy Eyes The Limit Eye Primer and it was only $5.98 so on a whim, I bought it…
It’s pretty darn good, still not quite as good as the NYX though. But having said that, I like the tube it comes in, nothing to break there…ahem…the product is not white or clear, but rather a pale beige…the pale colour has no affect on your lids if you use shadow so don’t panic that it will interfere with colour…I put a very small dab onto my index finger and do a quick tap with another finger to spread the product onto both fingers evenly and then I tap each eye lid at the same time…it helps keep the creases out for at least 8 -10 hours…it has a slight oily feel to it but it dries very fast…all in all it’s a very good primer…I need to use something so I would rather use this than nothing…if it had to pick between the NYX and the Hard Candy though, the NYX would win every time….

Had to delete my great review of this after retrying the WnW primer. This one doesn’t seem to handle dark shadows very well. I used this with a subtle smokey eye and while at work in the bathroom, I caught a glimpse of my lids and noticed dark lines gathering above my eyes where all my shadow clumped. Ugh.
I think this is great for lighter shadow colors, so I use it for lighter eye looks, but once I use this up, I won’t repurchase. WnW does a great job.

Pretty good product. You need to shake a bit before using due to separation. Goes on a bit oily but isn’t really as tacky as I would like it to be. Definitely extends the life of my eye makeup to about 8 or 9 hours. After that, eyeliner will fade and/or migrate and shadow begins to fade or crease.
Price is low but I’ve only managed to find it at Walmart. I like the tube packaging very much. May sample other primers still but this is not bad.

HC is a cruelty-free and accessible brand, so I thought I’d give it a try after hearing so many good things. This product works amazing for the price! I would say it works just as well as UD eye primer potion at a fraction of the cost. I was freaked out about the warm mid-tone pigment of the product since I have very fair skin, but rest assured it blends into your skin and you can’t see the pigment at all once it’s on.
Pros
Goes on clear despite it’s pigment, smooth, makes my shadow last throughout the whole day, smells pretty good, generous tube
Cons
Feels quite wet and greasy going on, although it dries completely in about 30 seconds, some separation so make sure you shake it good

This primer does the trick. Nothing glamorous about it. I apply with my ring finger in a patting swiping motion. This does tend to stay a little tacky on me so I set with RCMA no color then move on to my transition Shade. The stickiness is great for packing as it really grabs that shadow. Comes in a little squeeze tube so you can get just the right amount. There can be some separating so if you just bought it or it has sat for a few days then I open the cap and squeeze a little air out, replace cap then palpitate tube to mix.

I bought this product after reading all of the great reviews on this site and unfortunately I can’t agree. For my oily eyelids, this primer did nothing to control the oiliness or extend the lasting power of my eye makeup, especially my cream eyeliner. Within 4 hours, my eyeliner had faded and migrated because of the oils on my lids. Love the price (less than $5 Cdn at WalMart) and packaging but an inefficient product for me. Would not repurchase.

Awesome!! My HG is the NYX Proof it primer. I have extremely oily lids and nothing used to last on them until I found the NYX. Even UD creased on me. I still love the NYX the best but it does run out quickly – so the Hard Candy is a great alternative for days where I’m just running around and don’t need anything too hard core. It works great! Super cheap too and a huge tube. One slight con – even shaking vigorously, I still get a bit of oil coming out. But it doesn’t affect the performance. Two thumbs up!

dang! like one of the previous reviewers remarked, Hard Candy definitely hit it out of the park with this one! i have the most finicky eyes ever! (i don’t know, maybe it’s an East Asian thing, even if i don’t have monolids) i have tried practically every eyeshadow primer there is, high end and drugstore, including NARS (which actually did nothing for me, despite all the rave reviews for it), Urban Decay (my HG), Too Faced (also an HG, as i found it exactly the same as UD), tarte (a surprising favourite for lighter, more natural looks, but doesn’t seem to agree with my ColourPop eyeshadows, and also no longer readily available in Canada), Smashbox (did nothing for me), as well as NYX (did nothing for me), Milani (meh), and Etude House (my fave inexpensive eyeshadow primer, but not always readily available in Canada). the only things i haven’t tried, but have heard good things about, are Wet n Wild and e.l.f., but i can never find them, so whatever. the point is, no matter what i use, my eyeliner still smudges at some point and i get raccoon eyes.
that was, until i discovered this. this primer is amazing! while Urban Decay, Too Faced, and Etude House are fantastic eyeshadow primers for me (they work the best out of everything else i have mentioned before), towards the end of the day, my eyeliner still gets really gross at my outer corners, and my wings crumble, smudge and fade (note: i only use liquid liners because everything else, even gel liners, smudge and smear too quickly on me). with the Hard Candy Eyes the Limit primer though, none of this happens. my liner looks as crisp and clean as i first applied it. sure, some of the shimmer from my eyeshadows may transfer a little onto my eyeliner after a good 8 hours, but that doesn’t bug me as much as crumbled wings and raccoon eyes. nothing a little touch-up won’t fix; better than having to redo my whole eye.
the primer itself is nice and creamy, but you definitely have to shake it up before use. also, the colour is a little bit intimidating at first because it looks so dark and orange, and i am fairly fair, but it blends into nothing on the eyelids. the wear on this, as i have said before, is amazing. my eyeliners can last a good 15 hours on me with this, no problem (anything more than 12 is already amazing). and the price: only $5.98 CAD. that’s even cheaper than Etude House. i think i have found my new HG/ride or die eyeshadow primer. thank you, Hard Candy <3

I love the way this goes on. Silky smooth and not cakey. The price is amazing. I use Bareminerals and this primer is just as good as theirs if not better. You get more for the price. And how many of you remember….many years ago Hard Candy used to be sold in the finer dept. stores. It has kept its quality, just changed it’s packaging.
