Effectively removes eye makeup without tugging. But highly scented and irritates my sensitive eyes. Not soothing at all! I like the scent so much I wish I could buy body care products with this scent. It smells like meadow flowers, like bluebells and cornflowers I used to grow. Just not good on the sensitive eye area.

I was forced to give up my beloved Shu Uemura cleansing oil as an eye makeup remover years ago, as my eye doctor said it was contributing to the redness and irritation I was experiencing and advised using oil-free removers only. I switched to Philosophy’s Just Release Me and was quite happy with it…then it got discontinued. On a whim I decided to try this one from Klorane. It’s not oil-free but it doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes at all, doesn’t feel greasy/oily and takes everything off with nearly zero scrubbing or tugging (and I wear some pretty heavy-duty eye makeup!) Price-wise, at $16 for 3.38 oz, it’s comparable to Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple remover, which is what I’m assuming their replacement is for Just Release Me and retails at $15 for 3.4oz so I think the Klorane is a good value. I just wish it came in a larger size. To my knowledge the 3.38 oz size is the only one available in the waterproof formula.

Oh, so easy on the eyes! And how wonderful to finally find an eye makeup remover that actually is easy on the eyes without any rubbing, pulling, tugging or damage to lashes. In the throes of winter many of us are turning to an added emphasis on the eyes (count me among those). Plus, so often I leave early in the a.m. for appointments or the office without a chance to return home in preparation for dinner or a full evening. Of course, the answer for me was to use waterproof makeup that saw me through the day and into evening hours.
Good decision? It was until it came time to remove the eye makeup that stayed with me for the past 12 hours. My previous remover although gently applied needed rubbing of the eye area with a cotton pad to begin to remove the makeup. This was often followed by step 2 – the removal of the black steaks caused by removing the eye make up. It was a serious 2 or 3 cotton pad job. To say nothing of the effect on delicate skin and eye lashes.
Once again KLORANE came to my rescue. This remover with cornflower is a bit of a miracle – I simply shake the remover, apply it to a cotton pad and press the pad onto the eye area. After just a few moments the makeup is all but gone – notice no rubbing whatsoever. After doing both eyes I like to finish with another cotton pad to remove any possible residue. So delightful to use as it leaves no oily residue but simply thoroughly cleanses.
Three cheers for Klorane’s organic cornflower water! Reasonably priced and wonderfully effective.

This review is of the white lotion formulated for waterproof makeup. This product claims to be both gentle and to remove waterproof makeup, neither of which has been my experience.
I have EXTREMELY sensitive eyes, and most eye makeup removers that claim to be gentle or allergy tested sting my eyes, and so I continually look for my HG. I have tried the Klorane waterproof remover a few times now in an attempt to remove non-waterproof mascara and waterproof eyeliner, and the result has been the same each time. I’m not sure if the irritation comes from rubbing because the makeup doesn’t come off or if it’s just the formulation. In either case, not only will I not buy it again, I’m tossing it.
Back to Shu oil until I can find something better.
