I got a half size sample of this from a target sample box, i think, but I left it alone for several years. I am a daily hair washer, and I have personal reason for that, and so i never had any reason to use dry shampoo. Plus, the one dry shampoo i bought due to massive online raves (the Psst), I find it really gunky, made my hair almost sticky, and just overall made my hair feel grosser instead of less oily/cleaner.
but then, life happened, water heater broke, and i’m stuck without ability to wash my hair. Aarrrrrrrrg!!!!!
So i pulled this baby out because i realized I don’t have a choice, and I was surprised at how well it worked. My one gripe is how strong it smelled. I don’t know if it’s a coconut scent, it smells pretty good but it’s just so overwhelmingly strong that I feel like i was wearing a kind of powdery smelling cloying perfume all day. Not a fan of that (if it’s a weaker scent i’d be fine, as it does smell good, but it’s just too overwhelming).
In term of performance though, it made my hair a bit stickier/more textured (as most dry shampoo will), but once i get it worked in and brushed out a bit, i was surprised to note that from the outside, my hair looked clean, shiny, as if i totally washed it the night before. I did feel like i have to use a lot of it, but it might just be because I can’t stand the feel of oily scalp at all, and so went kinda nuts at it. And i was also surprised to find that it really lasts the whole work day as well. I spray my scalp with in the morning, and my scalp doesn’t start to feel oily until maybe 7 or 8 hours later. I also noticed that the longer i go without washing, the longer this keeps my scalp not oily, but i think it’s a case of just the product building up on my scalp, blocking more oil production lol.
to be clear, this doesn’t replace washing. Normally I can run my hand through my hair with minimal snag (my hair is super fine/thin/slippery/straight), but with this product in, it ends up being…dryer feeling, and my brush/hand gets stuck and I’d have to pull a lot more. I feel like i’m loosing a lot of hair due to not washing, but eh, life is life, shit happens. It does add a lot more texture to my hair, and volume – i’m essentially adding powder to clump up my hair, so that it props eachother up. I like volume but i honestly dislike the idea of putting products in my hair to achieve that. Good news is, as long as I don’t think about it/touch my hair, it feels clean/normal enough. It’s only if i try to run my hand through my hair/bangs that i experience that “ugh why does it feel like i put hairspray” feeling.
This thing is also incredibly cheap as well. I saw there’s an unscented version, i’d be willing to buy/try it if it performs as well as the coconut scented one.
using this product made me realize that I MIGHT be able to maybe wash my hair every other day instead of every day but…we’ll see i guess lol

Dove is the best drugstore dry shampoo for truly oily hair. This one doesn’t have that sickening baby powder scent of the originals from Dove. This one leaves my hair with a bright, fresh scent. Good for when you’re worried that not washing your hair for a week at a time will make your head smell. It also doesn’t have that heavy white cast that the originals from Dove have as well. Can’t go wrong for $5.

Love. Love. Love. I can use this product without a surgical mask. I have respiratory issues so it’s nice to have a product that doesn’t take my breath away. I’ve used some dry shampoos where I’ve actually had to walk out of the bathroom once I’ve sprayed and step outside onto the balcony. Most dry shampoos smell awful and seem toxic. The new Dove “Go Fresh” products are very effective and don’t give me respiratory failure. Gives my fine but thick hair lots of volume and the scent is pretty nice. So much better than some of the others I’ve used and priced waaaay better too.
