I have suffered from itchy scalp and eczema for most of my life, I have tried everything and this is the only shampoo that actually got rid of it on my scalp after using it for only a few weeks. I tried the T-gel coal tar shampoo and it did little for me except smell bad. This smells clean and a little medicinal but nothing over powering, in fact I would say it’s very gentle on the scalp. They tout the ph5.5 as being the key to healthy skin and I think there is something to it, I’ll be buying this for life.

Use with caution. I had no problems with any shampoos, hair products or dyes/bleach in the past. Immediately on skin contact i felt a burning sensation. I continued to shampoo my whole scalp not realising the damage it would cause. Once the burning became unbearable i rewashed using my normal shampoo but unfortunately the damage was done. That was six months ago and since then i have had chronic scalp pain and unable to use any sort of shampoo, and combing my hair now is extremely painful. Would not recommend this product

I’ve always had sensitive scalp that would get very itchy at times, the first week after using this shampoo it went away. I like that it’s SLS and dye free, the fragrance is very light and difficult to describe, almost clinical in a good way. I’ve also noticed that my hair is less dry than before and has more volume, I will definitely continue to keep using this shampoo.

Oh my, I gave it a good try but it’s just really bad for my hair. Stripped all the moisture and left the itchy scalp behind. As for the itchy scalp it’s kind of normal situation, my skin is quite sensitive but I never ever used shampoo which dried my hair while washing, no kidding. It would get in the tangles already in the bath & I normally don’t need a comb even.

First shampoo that has never caused me any issues. I have used free and clear, DHS and various natural brands that have all caused itching and flaking. I have used all the ones in the drugstore at one time or another with same reactions, plus these are usually way too scented to me. This is a clear gel, does have a very slight floral fragrance, I think sunflower fragrance. It is pretty expensive for the size, but I find it’s concentrated, lathers just fine,rinses well.

I recently broke out with eczema all over my face, ears, neck, chest…you name it. I’m not sure if the cause was chlorine from the pool or bad detergent…anyway I used prescription creams and antibiotics, which I found didn’t really work well. 10 days into treatment, though, I saw a big display of Sebamed at Costco. (I had tried their moisturizer when it was BOGOF at CVS). The vendor at Costco gave me a good deal and I walked out with (4) 1-Liter bottles of Sebamed products for $100. The face and body wash, shampoo, and body lotion have all REALLY helped relieve my eczema. I like the multi-use of the products, the lack of fragrance (though the face and body wash does have a bit too much of medicinal smell compared to other Sebamed products), and how clean and comfortable I feel afterwards. The body lotion is creamy enough for the the whole body, but I use it on my face too. While it may be a bit greasy, it settles into the skin pretty quickly. My new favorite product, though, is the shampoo! I get a thorough rinse that seems to last a lot longer than other hair products I’ve used. I also appreciate finding something that doesn’t smell like everything else, you know, the flowers and peaches 🙂 I am now a devoted Sebamed user and will shell out a few hundred dollars a year because the products work!

I’ve only used it twice – today and yesterday morning. So far, my itching has stopped. When I use my nail to ‘scrape’ the scalp lightly, no white residue appear on my nails which is good news.
It was a tad dry for my hair though but I only use this on the scalp and when I rinse it, I let the remaining shampoo pass through the lengths of my hair.
Will update once I’ve finished up the 200ml bottle.
Note: I have oily but sensitive scalp.

After using this product for 6 months, I lost an enormous amount of hair, long strands of hair from both sides of my head, the back, the hairline receded, and I have a baldspot larger than a half dollar on the top right side of my head. I had my hairdresser look at it and take pictures and she said it is the hair products. She said the clients that used “Wen” products had the same problem after 6 months of usage. I had enough hair every day to fill a sandwich bag. After I lost so much hair after a week, I stopped using the product and now, 2 weeks later, using a different shampoo and conditioner, and taking Natures Bounty Hair, Skin, and Nails, the hair loss is down to hardly anything and I am starting to get some peach fuzz back on my head. This shampoo is not all natural, it has formaldehyde in it and since it has no sulfides, it doesn’t not clean your hair well. It clogs the pores and the hair falls out. I contacted the company, that have not returned my email. I reported them to the fda and ftc.

I love the smell! It reminds me of green tea. This is NOT a moisturizing shampoo, it’s more of a gentle cleanser, so keep that in mind if you have a dry scalp. I usually will follow it up with a deep conditioner. My hair always feels so clean, and good!

aite, when i was younger i used to have HORRIBLE dandruff. then i used the regular dove repair one that you can find at costco, and BAM! my hair was awesome and my scalp wasnt too dry. no more dandruff. im at whole foods and see this and i thought it would be great. NO. this shampoo dried out my hair so bad even with the conditioner, and actually made my dandruff come back! im so pissed! and it wasnt cheap! i really wanted to like it, and i did like the smell, but it was just so horrible for my hair. i guess if you dont have a dry scalp or dandruff, it would be ok, but if you do have that stuff, dont try this! im gonna stick to my dove from now on.

This is really such a mediocre shampoo. I guess if you wash your hair everyday you want a very gentle shampoo, but I had to wash my hair twice every time to get my hair clean with this. It may also be slightly drying.

I’ve been using this shampoo for a couple of years now, and love it. MY HAIR’s SITUATION: It’s thick (the strands), straight and black, and on the oily side. I don’t do anything to my hair except wash/shampoo & air-dry; that means no conditioner, no hair spray, no nothing. Also, I swim in a chlorinated pool several times a week, though soaking my hair through with regular tap water first seems to help keep the chlorine from penetrating. My skin is very prone to allergies and hives, and breaks out easily, and I’ve never found a hair conditioner or a hair styling product that doesn’t make me break out, even when I try my best to avoid any of it touching my face, hence the super-simple hair care routine.
WHEW! All that said, my hair and scalp seem to be in a really good balance since I started using this 2-3 years ago. I’m often complimented on the health and luster of my hair, and I no longer have the occasional dandruff or itchiness that I used to think was just part of my hair’s “cycle.” My routine is to rinse my hair thoroughly every day, BUT only use shampoo every other. And when I shampoo, I do it twice: once to clean, and once to concentrate on massaging and scrubbing my scalp. As others have noted, this is NOT technically a moisturizing shampoo; it really cleans your hair. It’s possible that if I used this every day, I’d find it drying. However in my routine, I find that my hair right afterwards feels really soft and clean, yet somehow moisturised.
The scent is light, *kind of* melon-y.

The first time i used this shampoo was to wash 2nd day hair. My hair dried but had a slighly greasy feeling. I decided to wash my hair again the nxt day to properly clean it. However,even with using a shampoo brush,my hair was not clean and did not dry properly after my shower. I now alternate this with sulfate-free shampoos and also wash twice while using this shampoo. My hair does not feel overly dry even while rinsing twice. The shampoo has a nice floral scent that i like. I prefer packaging with pumps so that i do not need guesswork to decide how much shampoo i need.

I bought this shampoo and the conditioner in desperation one day to ease my inflamed-feeling and itchy/painful scalp one day. I’ve never in my life had scalp issues (dandruff, eczema, senstivity more than the average person) but after an accident last year where I hit my head and cut/bruised an area, I’ve had strange sensitivity with itchiness and eczema-type symptoms all around where the wound had bee….
So, while trying to find a non-irritating shampoo/conditioner that would improve the condition of my scalp but ALSO CLEAN my hair and keep it nice (I have long fine, thin, fly-away hair but LOTS of it fyi), I settled on this one. This stuff (used together ‘poo/cond.) has REALLY helped my scalp – the results were almost immediate and have only improved with usage over time.
My routine:
I.) I used Sebamed strictly as my sole poo/cond for about 2-3 weeks. I noticed an improvement right away.
II.) Then I alternated it every other time with my other moisturizing ‘poo as it does tend to be slightly drying after multiple uses and the conditioner is quite lightweight.
II.) Now I use it just once a week or less as a sort of “maintenance” regimen. Or I’ll use it if my scalp starts getting tender/itchy again and if I want to re-balance out the pH again.
Thank god for this shampoo (and conditioner)!

More expensive than regular drugstore products, but well worth it, IMHO.
I do wish the bottles came in larger sizes, since it doesn’t last very long with the current size.

I have to knock off one lippie for drying out my hair a little too much, which isn’t such a mass issue if I take the time to re-hydrate it, but it’s still annoying. I still recommend this for scalp and buildup issues, though.

I can’t wear drugstore and salon shampoos – something I’d discovered for the past two years. My scalp gets irritated. I don’t think it’s the usual dandruff, probably eczema/dermatitis. I’ve been using an organic shampoo until it ran out, unfortunately sold out at the pharmacy, too. The pharmacist handed me this Sebamed shampoo as an alternative and asked me to try it out.
I wanted to love it, but since I started using the shampoo, my scalp is scaly again. I get dandruff and an irritated scalp. Smells nice, gives volume. But sadly, still not good enough for the scalp.
